In July of 2020 I would buy myself a 1952 Series MM, with the 918cc Sidevalve engine. The car is currently in bits, being totally redone. Hope to have her back to full running order soon. Great to see someone else working on a Morris during Covid. Keep up the good work.
I think as a BRITISH MOTOR CORPORATION (BMC) car, the original engine would be painted green. The previous owner wanted to paint the top of the engine like that. What he or she didn't realise was that an OFFICIALLY reconditioned engine was pained GOLD, and was called a GOLDSEAL engine. So the good news, is that his motor has been reconditioned! Leave it GOLD, because that's the official colour! Fascinating "tour" of your fascinating car!
Gold rocker cover (if original) means the engine is a "gold seal" engine. Basically Morris refurbed some engines and sold them on and thats what this is. I have just bought myself a 1951 Splitscreen. It has the more powerful 1098cc engine (which is an easier engine to get parts for ect, so I am glad its got that instead of the side valve engine).
If you want to fit a modern radio without destroying it, you'll need to convert the car to negative earth. All you need to do is swap the battery terminals around, and neutralise the charge in the dynamo coils so that it charges "the other way". If you convert to an alternator you can skip that step though.

The engine is supposed to be the blue/grey colour not gold. The gold paint probably means it has had a gold seal engine at some stage.
My dad had a 52 series. I first car i drove inTrivandrum. Love so much. Hope some body help me to get one❤
The 54 came with the 803CC OHV A series engine. The side valve engine was last used in 1952.
