@@PenaltyBoxWoodshop only because you need to keep the piece pushed up square against the fence/bearing. You didn't demonstrate squaring the fence and miter gauge to the miter slot.
I’m sorry but you’re wrong. With a router table you do not have To square the fence to anything. The router bit is round and squareness will not affect the cut.
This is a valuable addition to my woodwork collection th-cam.com/users/postUgkxkNYRBJuiJ6EwD-tQSAlxg0eFKsnR2cgz I still will rate this woodwork plan as the best in my reference library. It always seem to stand out from the rest whenever you go through the library. This is a masterpiece.
Hands down the easiest and best cabinet door guide I've watched! I love that you show every step and not just handwave something, since not everyone knows all the terms/techniques.
This video answered all of my cabinet door construction questions. I am very appreciative that you included a section on router bit set-up. This is one of the very best instructional videos I have seen. Congratulations and many, many thanks!
This was a great video, no irritating repetition , clear and to the point. I haven't been looking forward to making the doors for the cabinets I put up ( I've never made 'em before). But this video gave me the confidence to go for it, thanks.
Dude if I had a dollar for every time I’ve come back to review this video. Better yet if I gave you a dollar for every time it be a nice gift for how much this video has helped me.
Housewife tip: When we had our custom cabinets built I requested that the carpenter set all the panels in as he did the glass. They're held in place with the plastic twists in the back. This enables me to get a wild hair up my butt, pop out the panels, and paint them with chalkboard paint. Or decoupage. Or switch the panels out for glass. Or anything I want, really. This is the only way I could imagine having the same kitchen for 30 years without getting bored. And it really works. The white cabinets don't bother me over time and I get to switch things up without doing any real damage or pulling out the paint sprayer and plastic. If a panel ever gets 'crafted' beyond repair, I can just cut out another 1/4 inch panel and pop it in. I have the information for the original white paint and can even turn it all back into a nice, clean, white kitchen if the mood moves me.
You make it so simple with your clear and precise instructions. I have seen a lot of video on this subject. Yours are the best I have seen. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and expertise with me.
Thank you for the video! I've been asked to make a new door for a neighbor and your video was just the ticket for this project. Thanks so much for sharing!
Good tutorial.Just one point you did not mention - especially for new woodworkers - to allow for the extra wood needed on the rails when they fit into the stiles.I my first doors and the finished product was not wide enough LOL
Found your TH-cam and Instagram feed by listening to you on Green Woodworkers Podcast. I really like what you had to say especially the part about passing on the knowledge of woodworking. I am a new wood worker only 2 years I am going to retire in 2020 I plan on woodworking to be my hobby in retirement. My daughter had a baby boy in November I am so excited about passing woodworking knowledge on to him. I know it will be a few years but this gives me time to improve my skills.. Keep up the great videos I will be one of your fans.
Thank you so much, sir! I hope you find woodworking to be as relaxing and fulfilling as I do! Congrats on the new granddaughter! Thank you for your support and please let me know if there is ever anything that I can do to help you along the way!
I never read a most accurate description of buiding process and your video is perfect: many many compliments!! I'm joined you immediatly. Pierluigi Beltrame, Italy
Thank you. Watched to figure out how to use a router table; because I want to make new kitchen cabinet doors. The router instructions were great, and that was the best cabinet door video I have seen; and I have seen a few.
Yes, thanks for the simplistic approach and easy to follow demonstration. Great picture, music wasn't loud and overbearing, and most of all no long drawn-out stories about how and why you started woodworking beforehand...lol. I'll definitely be referring to this video next time I make doors. *one thing though, I don't think you covered the width of the door and compensating for the tongue lengths.
I have referred back to your video so many times as I am building my first doors. I actually made the mistake of routing out of order and had some tear out. That was a test runs so no biggie, but point is , your video is spot on. Thanks my friend.
I like your video a lot and your approach to teaching building doors, the setup was invaluable information and I was not trying to be critical. I hope you have more videos in the future!
Just found you and truly enjoyed the video. I am just getting into wood working and want to make my own kitchen cabinet doors, this will definitely help. Thank you !
For those who have never use cope and stick bits, it would be informative to let the user know that they need to add an extra 3/4 of an inch or 24 centimeters to the rail length or the door will be short in width. The rail inserts a little over 3/8's of inch into the stile, thus 3/4 of an inch a door. I learned this lesson the hard way building double doors and them being an inch and a half short in width. After all of the milling and sizing of wood, this type of rookie building mistake hits hard on both your time and wallet.
@@PenaltyBoxWoodshop I went back and watched the video twice and I did not see any mention about 3/8 tongue on each end. In other words if you want your rails to be 10 inches long start with them 10.75 inches 3/8 on each end will be the tongue.😀🛫

Not quite. The fence isn't square to the miter gauge. Wrong method.
Seems to have worked out pretty perfectly. And does every time for me. Why is it the wrong method?

Yea, absolutely and I mentioned quickly that you need to account for that but I didn’t go in-depth. Thank you
I was about to ask about that as it's important to allow the extra length. Thanks for clarifying. Btw, 3/4 inch is 19mm, not 24cm!
