I believe Meltzer rated 7 of the matches on this ppv at least 4 stars including this match. Dave has completely just lost his mind and how anyone can take his opinion seriously is beyond me.
It’s funny because if WWE, TNA, or WCW put on a match like that he would’ve panned it so hard. But because his friends are in it, all of a sudden it’s a good match.

I commented on the Observer review that doing this type of match first hurts future matches in a storyline. Someone replied "they could just try to top it." HOW? Someone was lit on fire and no-sold it later to get the pinfall. I'm fine with the Elite winning but nothing is believable after a match like this.

Swerve, the champion, the main man, is not the main event. Even Tony's favourite world champion, Mox, was not the main event.
This crap was. When the fans are chanting for a song, as good as it is, you must know nothing you do will get anyone to care about your match.

TK is having "banger" matches with zero to no buildup and if it did it was 2 weeks of nicely produced video package or interview with Rene moxley goode.

Not true. The TNT NBA crew was gifted AEW heavyweight championship belts, but nobody gave them to them. There was no sighting of the young bucks or Tony or anybody. It was during the post game of the Timberwolves Mavericks. As everybody was sitting around all four of them got championship belts, and that was the end of it. Just basic promotion

Martha Hart is the one who allowed it, she’s still so angry with the WWE she lets AEW do whatever they want as it pertains to Owen Hart and anything associated with him, hanging Darby from the rafters is a bad idea sure but it’s not on Tony this time, Martha could’ve easily said no but didn’t because she likes the checks that Tony gives her.

Okada hadn’t given new viewers a reason to be a fan. His reprogram was against the obese jobber Eddie Kingston, he doesn’t speak, can’t promo, he doesn’t _do movez,_ we never saw a highlight reel of him kicking ass in Japan.
There is no reason to cheer this man.

Darby Allin returned from breaking his foot and getting hit by a bus only to be hit by another bus and hung by his feet in the ring. Ironic.
One of my favorite Ebert and Roeper moments comes when they're reviewing Herbie: Fully Loaded. Ebert's doing his best to find anything interesting, even speculating about the sex life of cars, and Roeper is calmly taking this all in. Roeper then agrees with some of Ebert's points then says, "You forgot one thing, this movie just sucks," and starts yelling.
This AITA was my Roeper moment.
In the wake of this, Moxley is surely feeling less embarrassed about the Rice Krispies barbed wire pyro or that television-on-the-fritz spot.

I got into it with someone on a fb wrestling group about that dumbass fire spot. They claimed that the fire spot was fine because "Kane got set on fire in inferno match and no one complained!" They compared Kane, a 7ft 300 pound guy with a monster gimmick having his arm set on fire while wearing a full bodysuit and losing the match to a 5'5 150 pound guy having his entire body set on fire with a fucking flamethrower who came back out 10 minutes later to WIN THE MATCH FOR HIS TEAM. Seriously, what the fuck. Unnecessary, needlessly dangerous, narratively pointless beyond saying "you know what would look cool".

Okada was good years ago, but Gedo and NJPW knew how to present him and his body also wasn't banged up.
He's completely uninteresting. I had a passing awareness of Okada having those matches with Omega, and AEW's done nothing to feature him as a stand out star or character.
This was the end of me watching AEW. I'll never support this company again. I'll come here to smoke as Jim rips it apart
