    I NEVER liked Cats. I was in a VERY BAD place mentally in life and came home from the gym to find a Furry Little Person @ my door and some DEAD stuff!! Naturally, I "shooed" Her off. The VERY next morning I got back to find Her @ my door with MORE dead stuff. Being IGNORANT I ran Her off again. When I got home on the THIRD day to find this tiny GODDESS 🐈💕🐾 AGAIN waiting for me with GIFTS, I Googled it and was UTTERLY FLOORED with emotions, Honor and Gratitude... She sought ME out!! She PICKED ME!? I let Her in and She's NEVER left. She's 5 & We've been together for 4 years. She saved my life that day & became my SOUL PURPOSE in life... In my DARKEST HOUR, I reached for a hand and found a 🐾 PAW 🐈.

    I have a cat with pica. No matter what I do to occupy him, if there’s loose plastic lying around, he chews on it. He’s probably the smartest cat I’ve ever known. He figures things out quickly and therefore, gets in more trouble than his brothers and sisters.

    Reminder to other cat owners that if your cat is acting like their back/tail is itching that it can also be a sign of blockage of the anal sacs. My cat had this issue for about 18 months and was treated by a clearly clueless vet for an unspecified skin condition. Then I changed vet and they immediately diagnosed it as partially blocked anal sacs. I felt just awful 🥺that he had had this for so long without relief.

    • @cynthiabakke825

    I have a Persian who reads me really really well. I am her third home but she has been a pet all her life. I also have a Ragdoll who was a breeding queen the first five years of her life, so this is the first time she has been a beloved pet. She doesn’t read me anywhere near as well. I find it interesting. I am fortunate that they will both use a Jumbo Litter Box (scooped daily). We use fragrance free clumping litter.

    I have one cat that is indoor/outdoor and another that has retired from outdoor life. The one that still goes outside can eat more without gaining weight. But the other is so hooked to indoor life that he is less active, but wants to eat more, and he can get a little fat if you let him. It’s hard to feed them different portions, because they know the difference. *scary* When I reduce the food for one, he just wolfs his food down and then bogarts his way into his brother’s bowl (I don’t know why he as the older one just gives up his bowl like that…still studying). It is a lot of trial and error. They both seem happier with raw foods…eggs…but it is hard when you are busy….it’s good to get some info when you are not sure sometimes.

    My Siamese mix is a talker and my Tuxedo rarely does. Each cat is an animal with its own unique character. I have seen comments of owners that constantly compare one cat to another. Again, each cat has their own personality. So don’t compare just enjoy their individuality

    I am not a trained Vet but I disagree about the litter box thing. My brother's wife was terrible to my cat; She even kicked my cat. My cat HATED that woman, she would hiss and scratch if that woman came near her and my cat is not typically aggressive with people. My cat has never had bathroom issues, always uses the litter box, teaching her as a kitten was not an issue but she would always pee on my brother's wife's shirts if they were placed down somewhere in the house. That woman is thankfully no longer in our lives and my cat does not do that anymore.
    That being said, maybe you could explain why she has an obsession with drinking from the bathroom water faucets? I could place a bowl of fresh water on her feet on a silver platter like the good human servant she had trained me to be but if I am so much as facing the general direction of the bathroom she tried to herd me over there and screams to have the sink turned on for her. Please tell me the meaning of this?! What is my tiny panther trying to say?!

    • @caveman3021
      @caveman3021 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm by no means an expert, but perhaps they perceive the trickling tap to be fresher than the bowl you just changed for them? Again.. I'm merely guessing ..

    My cat loves only one kind of litter. Clay, cheap, unscented. Period. I was trying to transition her to a pine litter that’s not as dusty. She did it for awhile then suddenly it was a hard NO and she stopped using her box for over 24 hrs. I was panicking cuz I had a cat die suddenly of kidney disease. So I went down and got her clay litter snd put it over the current litter. Then she was fine. Problem solved. I built my hallway for my cat, I put in shallow shelves along the entire hallway snd even took an older mattress and covered it and made it into a climbing/ napping wall for her. She loves the hallway. I call it her gymnasium. She loves to walk/jump over the varying heights of objects as I walk through the hall. The shelves store her stuff snd some if mine. The floor is where she loves the to run and chase her balls. When she cries, I know it means she needs to play with me so I try to do that with her throughout the day. She only gets fed twice a day and then a small snack at bedtime. No free feeding and for the most part give her her fav dry food as a treat. It’s the only time of the day she gets dry food. Thanks for all the good tips to watch out for. My cat is a great communicator but it’s def her cat language. Not human language. So I’m learning her language. Always appreciate the tips to improve in it

    Great video! Another reason for painful paws could be declawing. This can cause pain when walking, and especially when trying to dig through cat litter. Using the litter box will be painful, and the cat will learn to avoid litter boxes.

    • @religiohominilupus5259
      @religiohominilupus5259 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The term "declawing" is misleading as it's actually amputation.
      I'll never choose a vet office for my cat that still practices this barbaric procedure. I think it's an abomination that vets in the US are still allowed to declaw in most states.

    • @enigma26a

    My cat stopped eating the dry food then every so often he would use his left dew claw to clean his teeth. The horrible discovery was a tumor had grown into his left jaw joint and he was trying to open his jaw so he could eat normally. The visits to the vets did not detect a tumor but they guessed that he needed a tooth extraction so when he was anesthetized they could not open his jaw because of the tumor. There is more to the story but not now.

    Thank you for number 5, Dr. Wooten! When I first got my cat, she had a tendency to bite down and pull out my fuzzy blanket. She end up eating a few threads before I’d catch and stop her. I asked around online and took an educated guess that it was pica related. I resorted to playing with her more to tire her out as well as covering up my blanket with a non fuzzy blanket. She ended up not doing it anymore but I’ll be sure to ask the vet to run the tests you mentioned just to be safe :)

    Thank you!💗 been concern about my baby boys well-being, such as his teeth n overall longevity to say the least. I got him toothbrush and a paste kit last year, so a couple toothbrushes n paste for him, but have guiltily not brushed his teeth like I was suggested by a vet that I truly trusted and wish to see again for my lil man. He was so good to him, I do check on his teeth. Making sure he’s stimulated enough inside is super key and my focus as well as where I moved took away some of the best cats he points and window views he once loved and had, so outside lately he’s been more so about due to also stress from a stray male cat that from time to time lingers and sprays against the fence and had so far twice been caught above the fence n once inside so, luckily we have a doggy to deter that cat away but it is stressful because he has him showing signs of distress where he’ll want to rush and cry to go out and overly sniff and claim his territory by using the bathroom more outside :(:( that cat would go around and spray our door area, ugh it’s been stressful! My boy is my world! We love flow and harmony and peace and just being and he deserves all the love and attention. With having moved where I have, he is even more isolated so that has also been another issue which is what I’ve been working hard at trying to heal and change.
    Much love n respect to you and all cat/familiar lovers! :)💙🐈‍⬛🦋🐾🎍💙
    Oh: my question was any suggestion in how to properly maybe slowly brush their teeth? Isaac gets squirmish of course and doesn’t tolerate me getting in his precious little mouth, so if I’m alone I try to certainly take a moment and inspect for anything and make sure his teeth/mount area is cleaned up after his meals. I of course include him & help wipe his mouth with tissue :), and I always make sure my hands are clean, but not sure how to really get in there, just gonna have to work at getting him used to it and find a soft spot to relax him when so. And I guess just trying to brush even if it isn’t much will simply help slowly break apart any plaque build up…. Which again I have tried but not practiced and am guilty at this. Thank you for your time.*

      @@zombieninja559 it is painful when the infection is active, Tommy’s paws are sore and he won’t even scratch anything to sharpen his nails because it hurts him. We took in a feral cat that recently birthed a batch of kittens but they didn't survive the -35F winter cold. Since then she walks about the house howling and carrying balled up socks, assuming she's mourning or searching for her kittens. It's been over a year now. Do you think it might be helpful if she (we) were to foster some abandoned newborns? Our house is already full of cats ;^).

    So Dr. Wooten, how do you fix these stress/anxiety issues? In Nov. she had a UTI but that was cured but the peeing outside of the box continued. She will poo in the box and I've gotten it where she pees in a makeshift box behind where I sit here at the computer which is lined with wee wee pads and a towel. She holds her pee and poo. I am lucky if I get one a day of either. It's sad because she has become very insecure and anxious. My vet thinks it has something to do with the yappy new puppy next door that the neighbor lets run all over the hallways (I live in an apartment building). Other than that I can't think of what it could be. I've spent close to $4000 on tests and behaviorists to no avail. She eats and drinks water. I am giving her a low dose of gabapentin now with the hope that it will make her happier. The other thing I have used is Zylkene. Frankly i don't see a difference in her behavior between either of the two although both seem to have a little calming effect. I have Feliway going 24/7 but that's nothing new as she's always been a bit anxious. She gets plenty of playtime, she's an only cat, she's 13 and apparently in the best condition a cat of her age could be in according to her blood work, xray and ultrasound. I notice she's not kneading as much as she used to and, other than sleeping, it seems hard for her to sit still some times. I pet/rub her a lot as she seems to want and need it. Any ideas would be welcome.

      I know you asked about this earlier. It's really hard to say why your cat makes this decision. You may be able to discourage her from lying there by providing perches, beds, etc. for her to use elsewhere. You may also be able to use your voice to get her to move when you're approaching, either moving forward or backing into her.

      And now, she won't lay on my lap anymore.When she was a kitten I named her Kitty Cuddles.But now she is kitty hide from me.That is except when she wants to annoy me.She will get up on the couch, jump over my lap instead of coming to me.Unless of course I have tuna fish then she will come near to me and let me feed her.The mistake I made was I got mad and yelled at her.She literally tore the metal shelves off my closet wall I had to call maintenance to fix it.My neighbor gave me a beautiful heavy lamp to sit on my dining room table.But the cat decided to run and attack the shade and knock the lamp over on the floor.So I can't use my beautiful lamp anymore, I have to keep it locked inside a closet else if I put it back on the table she will knock it off again then I will put it back up and she will do it again.It is impossible to train her to stop this behavior.I bought a plastic cup with a lid and a plastic straw for drinks but man if I leave it out she runs and attacks my cup pushes it over makes the lid come off and the drink spill out then its time to chew the plastic straw.Is she crazy or something?

      Does she [my cat] know I don't Ike her? I tell you yes I do love her even though she annoys the heck out of me.I told my sister that and she said yes but she is part of the family.I have a heart ❤ for homeless people and kitty was found homeless by the woman who gave me to her.So the proof I love her is she still lives with me.Im sorry kitty I know it's boring living with an old man who is losing his ability to walk.But you do have a one bedroom apt all to yourself you don't have to share your litterbox with other animals.All your favorite meow mix you can eat and tuna fish for a snack but you don't want daddy kisses anymore.Still I would never abandon you because I know what happens to animals that end up at a shelter.I used to work for a city and they needed workers to pick up dead animals off the streets to keep the city clean.And we had to go behind the SPCA and that's when I saw the part they don't show to the public OMG I can't talk about what I saw but the city works with them to keep the city clean I'll never do that job again.My sister says someday kitty will grow out of all this crazy behavior I didn't think kitty had the strength to rip metal shelves off my closet wall and push heavy lamps off the table but after all she is a real animal.
