Yes Felip said in one of interview that one of his western influences are Kendrick Lamar , Post Malone , Jayden Smith among others. And if may suggest please do an rv to his latest PPOPCON 2023 where he sang 3 of his songs ROCKSTA, STRAYDOGS AND MIC TEST you will surely enjoy and appreciate his stage presence and swag is unreal to say the least .He was on 🔥👌 while performing !
That PPOP con perf was the most all out so far that he has done. I think he still has a bit of inhibition that prevents him to really give it his all when performing by his lonesome onstage.

He wrote most of the songs in his EP Complex after their Pagsibol US concert, some even aboard the plane en route back to the Philippines. He said he knew not many people would like his kind of music but it is what he digs, and that’s why he goes solo to be who he really is musically. He said that the EP is called Complex because it delineates the complexities we all have as individuals and just like most people, he also has a dark side, but that some of the songs included in it are not based on his own personal experiences but derived from others, like Drinksmoke, because he does not actually drink and smoke (he does not party).
Thank you for sharing! We can definitely see how his style of music may not appeal to the Filipino audience but a lot of people in the US (and I’m sure other areas) really like this this style/sound. It’s great that he is staying true to himself. 😌
@@thelapids Not a few reactors said that of him. GidKidDad intimated they talked with Ken at the Dallas con and somehow hinted they have something in the works for him, they being producers and all. As a matter of fact, Ken’s voice was why they got hooked into SB19 and eventually to other PPOP groups, even to the point of coming to the Philippines to watch a PPOP con that did not push through while they were here but that did not dampen their spirit coz they now actually moved to the Philippines with their families (at least Josh did with wife and kid, I dunno if Lucas and Brad brought theirs). Ken is a people-magnet, without him even trying. For me, much more than his unique deep voice and the swag he exudes especially when dancing, it his his personality that’s his ace - very unassuming coming from a far-flung province with nary two pennies to rub together, shy but too honest and straightforward for his own good at times, silent because he was not so fluent in Tagalog, and all such other insecurities. But to most everyone’s surprise, in no time he emerged as The Fashion Influencer of the Year (3 times in a row to date, his passion for fashion prompting him to put up his own clothing line, Superiorson) came up with an RnB single (Palayo, the first ever solo act by an SB19 member), a hiphop-type single (Bulan which, despite the controversy, earned him an invite to perform in the Grammy Global Spin, the first and only pure-blooded Filipino to have such a feat) and an EP (Complex), all written and produced by him with help from friends. Inside all that swag accomplishments, though, is the Ken who is such a baby in so many ways you just wanna cuddle him (much like your Josh, I think, coz he seems shy and sweet too but likes rock and stuff😊). They have vlogs (Showbreak) and snippets from fancams showing his actuations. You m wanna watch them too when you have time.

Actually, the Kick Off PAGTATAG CONCERT in the Philippines had a live band, but they can’t bring them in their tour.
The band here in the superior sessions is the live band they had with them in the Pagtatag Manila Concert , so talented peeps, hope you can check his superior sessions Palayo and Bulan and the rest of the Complex EP :) so proud of our chicKen, proud Bisaya sisiw here! :)

Just FYI, Felip doesn't drink, he's allergic to alcohol. He actually said it in one of his interviews.
Their solo concert setlist I feel like is not fixed and they change them whenever they feel like it except for Stell's and Justin's.
Pablo changed his from La Luna to Kumunoy at some venues. Josh only sang Get Right and Wild Tonight at the Manila Kickoff Con and local venues while he also sang Sofa (Remix) at their international shows. Ken just performed Palayo at Toronto with Criminal so they do change them from time to time. Waiting to see if he performs Superiority, MicTest and Bulan too for the rest of their Canada Tour 😊
My favorite Ken solos are Palayo, Criminal, and Mictest.

Question...is being accepted in the West the meter of true success? Because we're trying to get Filipino music into the world. So if we start sounding like Western artists, isn't that counterproductive for our goal? Just curious...In my personal opinion, I think "West doesn't mean the best". Just saying. I'm glad Gento is the song that opened their artistry to the world, not just in the US. I'm Fil-Am but my Playlist doesn't even have the newer Western artists in it. 😅
We’re not saying that being successful in the west is the best. They are already so successful as it is, but when it comes to the music industry being successful in the US definitely helps boost awareness and reach not just in the west but globally. If that wasn’t the case artists from other countries wouldn’t be trying to gain exposure there.
This doesn’t mean that they have to change their style or sound, we specifically said that we think HIS style would appeal to people in the US, just like how there are many latin artists that are huge in the west as well while still making music in their native tongue.
Part of the reason we do these reactions is because we’d love to help spread the awareness of Ppop and the artists for people outside of the Philippines as well. 🫶🏻😌

@@tashacarmelo2607 also being from the United States, we primarily feel comfortable expressing what we think would be popular here. It's hard to make any assumptions on what would be popular in any other parts of the world since we've spent most of our lives out here. Almost all pop music is global these days and inspiration is borrowed from across the world. Appreciate the pride you have in spreading Filipino music! 🙂🇵🇭

The red mic he's using was a fan project, a gift for his birthday last January. It has its own case with his name and he always uses that when he performs as Felip. 🥹 He wasn't able to bring it for the tour though I think because frequency in the US and Canada is different.
