      Yep, he's a great drummer. He use to be the drummer for a band called spocks beard and I saw him in 2003 when he played for fates warning while they were touring with dream theater. He also was touring with tears for fears as their drummer.

    I recently got this kit and it's absolutely phenomenal in all aspects. I was initially going to get a Performance kit from DW but due to some budget problems I wasn't able to. Of course, I was a bit disappointed, initially, BUT now that I have this kit set up (even with the stock heads) it is undeniably killer. And it's so killer that I don't even feel bad having to "settle" for a Design series over a Performance series kit. If you have an opportunity to get this kit or any of the Design series kits I definitely do recommend you get one

  • @U2WB

    Not just the way they look - the drums sound FANTASTIC.

    If Acrylic is good enough for Bonham then it's good enough for everyone and their grandmother. I have always loved the sound of acrylic kits. Defined and warmth with much less overtone. The problem with wood in drum shells is the rebound or echo in the shells which the acrylic absorbs...

    • @GioGioPietromica425
      @GioGioPietromica425 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nah man not deep enough. 22×20 is the absolute perfect depth,
      You get a good amount of muffling, (especially with an aquarian classic reso and a aquarian supper kick 2 batter and a pillow resting up against the batter)

    They look & sound great as do all DW sets...My drummer has a set of DW's from the 80's that are freaking immense!! The clear acrylic is nice but remind me of the Jason Bonham set that DW made for the Led Zep reunion tour that was to imitate the Ludwig Vista Lights that John Bonham used...They were yellow,which i actually prefer over the clear so will other colors be an option in the future?? Jason Bonham has said that his set was a 1 off but that was several years ago..

    Constructive comment here: I'd find it more helpful to hear at least a minute of a simple 4/4 rock beat and straight 8th note fills at relatively slow tempo. If you'd allow for more space in between the notes, I'd be more confident that I was getting a good sample of how the drums sound. It's tough enough to know how these things sound, given the room, tuning, mixing etc, so anything will help. Thanks

    Is this the only configuration and drum sizes available? Would prefer a 1 up 2 down configuration

    • @swashington942
      @swashington942 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are other retailers that offer diff configurations on acrylics but i'm not sure about DW.

      +Robert Cole Yea this is a nice set for sure. For now i'll settle for my Pearl Forums (cheap i know). I've got more money tied up in 2 cymbals than the drums cost.

      +Robert Cole A music store in my area has a Pearl Crystal Beat set for sale i might look into later if they still have them. The guy told me they've had em for years. Guess there's not too much interest in acrylic but i've always wanted a set. I'll let em set for a little while longer and then make an offer and they'll probably let me take em just to get em out of their way.

      +Robert Cole I noticed an acrylic floor tom (fairly new looking) on ebay that had cracks around the leg mounts. I wonder if that's a common problem with acrylics. Something to think about. The could've tightened the mount too tight and caused it.

    Apart from price, Pearl Crystal Beat vs this ? i'm torn between the two, the kick seems to sound a bit better on this one. Anybody played both ? +SweetwaterSound thanks !

    • @swashington942
      @swashington942 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Keep in mind that the Pearl set doesnt come with the matching snare. After u add a snare you are almost even with the "better" DW set. Plus you gotta get tom stands regardless of which ever set u get. after you add all of that, youre looking at around $2,000 not counting symbals. Figure $450 for the Zildjian "S" box combo pack wich in my opion is a very good value, then you've spent $2,500. Now that u realize a $1,000 set will actually cost 2-1/2 times that it's rather depressing.

    • @swashington942
      @swashington942 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Blaze Infernus If the Tama set you played sounds better than the other set, isn't it most likely due to the heads being diff or tuned diff? How can one acrylic shell sound better than another? They're both acrylic. Please clarify.

    I hope other companies take notice... It´s CRUCIAL that the testing is done by pro hands, like Nick´s... I´ve seen 5k kits played by amateur hands and guess what? They sound meh... Congrats, Sweetwater. Hint to Gretsch: change the "teacher" that showcase your drums in this channel...
