HEY EVERYONE!! Before you comment, please read below. I wasn’t joking when I say I am brand new to BTS! So, PLEASE allow me some grace in my mistakes. If I assume something that may be incorrect, i only assume it because it has been a common practice in relative genres of music. If I’m reviewing a song, it’s because I know it has a fantastic reputation of being amazing. I will not review anything to be negative. So please, understand that if anything came off as derogatory, it’s simply a misunderstanding or mishap in translation. I LOVE learning new things when viewing new music, that’s exactly why I’m viewing blind. Please, feel free to correct something if it’s inaccurate. HOWEVER.. ..I only ask you do so kindly. Anything less than respectful will be deleted and blocked. Thanks so much for watching and for helping me learn about this excellent group!
Didn't see any mean or aggressive comments here, but you sure are defensive towards simple comments that provided extra info. Relax and learn how to accept when others correct you 😊
I had to laugh a bit at 3:50 because they do write most of their music themselves, especially the three rappers RM, SUGA and J-Hope RM has over 200 songwriting credits, SUGA around 160 (he also produces a lot for himself, BTS and other artists) and J-Hope around 130 They really are amazing and I am so happy you started with live performances, because they are so amazing live!
Well thanks for laughing at it instead of being angry about it. I wasn’t joking when I said I was going in blind, the assumption was based on common practices in relative industries and wasn’t meant to down play their talent. Thank you for kindly informing me of the facts, I was already impressed and now knowing they have autonomy over their work, I’m even more impressed. Thanks again!!!
@@DavidBraileyLive Yes I could tell you were still being respectful, otherwise I just wouldn't bother leaving a comment at all I think it's normal to have preconceived notions before getting to know something. I was the same 😅 And I know it is sometimes hard for reactors because some ARMYs can be really protective of BTS and are so used to them being belittled, that those ARMYs react angrily
Fun fact, this is what the writing credits for Love Is Not Over look like: Produced by Jungkook, Slow Rabbit Written by Jungkook, Slow Rabbit, Pdogg, Jin, RM, SUGA, j-hope Slow rabbit and pdogg are two long-time in-house producers, all other names listed (Jungkook, Jin, RM, j-hope, SUGA) are BTS members. So you’re absolutely right in that they know what they are saying, one of the main appeals of BTS is their message and lyrics in their music. Hope you listen to more :) (Also, the reason they are all so sweaty here is cause they were dancing - a lot of their songs have pretty intense and intricate choreo.)
You should dig more into the group. They write and produce almost all of their songs. The lyrics of their songs are some of the most beautiful I've ever encountered. All seven members have credits on their albums. They are so extremely talented.
hi! and thanks for your reaction. I must admit that despite many years as ARMY, it still surprises me how BTS is judged as a standard boyband (they only sing POP, others write their songs, they have to look nice, etc.). I thought this was changing, that with the passage of time (11 years since their debut) and the increase in their popularity around the world, and above all thanks to ARMY's work in raising awareness and constantly explaining how BTS differs from Western boy bands, what K-POP is and how BTS as a whole does not can be put into the framework of K-POP, it still surprises me how misunderstood they are. I sincerely hope that you will be willing to dig deeper and find out more. I highly recommend you watch the Guide to members of BTS from Taylor (before or after getting to know their music). Seriously - it will help you to know their path, get to know what is behind their music and allow you to enjoy it more. A Guide to BTS Members: The Bangtan 7 th-cam.com/video/huV_yIdxZPY/w-d-xo.html
New reactors always seem to make the mistake of knowing just a little bit about Kpop and making all kinds of assumptions based on their limited knowledge. Painfully, it reminds me of having a dinner guest who looks at your decor and then tries to explain your life to you. (Sorry, a weird analogy, but this recently happened to me.) frankly, I don't understand the need to compare everything they hear to American music. Yes, it's what they know. I get it. But imagine someone traveling to China (or France or Korea or Russia) and comparing the language they hear to English.
bts are not the typical kpop group or boyband :) They started out as a hip-hop group and their label was not a kpop label, the two first members were underground rappers. BTS debuted in 2013, they produce and write all of their own music (with a few exceptions, like their 3 english songs where only RM had credits on one song), and not only do all of the members produce/write for themselves and bts, but some of them also produce and write for other artists! The "switch" from genres happened when the vocalists joined the group, it turned from a hip-hop group into a pop/mixed genre (or kpop) group (kinda, they still very much do make hip-hop songs and the rappers have their own albums). The label scrambled to put together what resembled a trainee system (which you mentioned in the last video, they did in fact not train since they were young for this) and debuted bts. Their training was also very different from usual kpop groups, like for one, the label never forced a mandatory amount of practice time on them, the bts members practiced as much as they wanted (which turned out to be a lot, they are VERY hard workers), this is because the label was not a kpop label, but a normal indie music label. BTS' come up story is really incredible, their label was broke and on the verge of bankruptcy, the members all slept in one shared room and used to only have a less than 5$ budget for food every day. They were mistreated and blocked by the industry (Korean society is very hierarchical, hence people from "poor backgrounds" get mistreated often, especially in the kpop industry), they used to get bullied and abused by show hosts and other kpop idols, which is why they turned to TH-cam and social media to build theirown path to success in a time when everything was done through broadcasting stations and radio. This is also why the Korean industry hates them, bts proved that they aren't needed.
These guys definitely write and produce there own songs couldn't be prouder of them. They have over 400+ songs and hope you'll check more of there music. Also there are 3 rappers and 4 vocalists.
This song is seven years old, but so good. You’d be surprised how diverse their music is. They write/compose and produce their stuff. They have a variety of music fans, from hip-hop fans to metal heads. From kids to 80-year-old fans. It’s pretty even across-the-board, but I think the edge up are fans are probably in their 20s-40s. There are a lot of reasons, but what they write about is a big deal to army.
I love this song, it was first a shorter Outro for one of their albums and the Full Version came out with a "summary" album which compiled songs from the two previous albums. The producers were Jungkook (the younger member of the band) and Slow Rabbit (a producer in their company). Other songwriters for this song, both in music and lyrics were the three rappers on the band (RM, Suga and j-hope), the eldest member Jin and Pdogg, who is in their in-house team the main producer and kind of a mentor for everyone else
ARMY is a tough crowd when it comes to reaction videos but don't let it stop your journey. I for one really like that you're picking songs that most reaction channels wouldn't bother with. It's refreshing. And they have soooo many underrated b-side tracks that show of their versatility. I also like that you're doing live performances because they absolutely excel at those. I'm hoping you'll pick something more upbeat for next video, Dope + Baepsae + Fire + Idol medley goes crazy and you'll get a taste of several songs.
That’s not what my video is doing, and I’m sorry if you thought I was being in any way derogatory towards them. I may not “Know” BTS, but I do know what it takes to create amazing performances. It’s actually my job. So with my insight, I break down the performance and tell you what goes in to everything you see on stage. In order for me to do that accurately I use examples from relative groups and styles to explain my point to the best of my ability.
It's a surprising reaction (it's not a very well know live performance). Thanks for reacting to it and to BTS ! You should keep on reacting to them live as it really showcases the emotion and their vocals even better than in the studio versions. Here's some suggestions for you to react to (these are the exact names of the videos on TH-cam) : - BTS (방탄소년단) 'Film out' @ MUSIC BLOOD - [Eng HD] 200727 BTS Your Eyes Tell Live Fuji TV [Live] - BTS (방탄소년단) 'Blue & Grey' @ MTV Unplugged - BTS (방탄소년단) 'Take Two' Live Clip #2023BTSFESTA - BTS (방탄소년단) - The Truth Untold [Live Stage Mix w/ Lyrics] All of these are amazing VOCAL performances (you haven't seen them dance yet, it's just as good as their singing but let's keep that for another time) can't wait to see more !
BTS are 7 individual, talent, different type of artists. They have 300+ (400?) songs includes solos, different units, mixtapes, singles, soloalbums, collabs, japanese/english songs... BTS has been involved they music since begining which was/still is quite rare in k-pop. There are allso lots of behind shooting videos (where they talks their work or collab produsers/singer tells what is work with them). If you want to know them better you can react Taylor guide to BTS members, little long but we watch it with you😅. Greetings from the edge of Europe
Thanks for the reaction to one of their lesser-known songs. I think it’s worth saying that the sooner you stop trying to pigeonhole them as a western-style boyband, the sooner you’ll begin to understand them as artists. BTS is not what you’re assuming. I grew up with The Beatles, Stones, Doors, Led Zep, Genesis, Pink Floyd and the like. Later I was into Talking Heads, REM, Muse and Linkin Park. Robert Plant was the last gig I attended before Covid. BTS absolutely belong in the conversation… the one about the most important and long-lasting musical artists of our time. Yes, they are K-pop… in many ways they are influencing the development of that industry… but at the same time they stand apart from it. Their music is them, their story, their thoughts, their pain, their joy and their passions. Keep exploring, and keep an open mind.
Oh I don’t mean to compare the two styles, and apologize if that’s what it seemed. It’s t he closest thing I know that is relative to these groups, that’s not to mean they’re exactly the same or BTS isn’t its own group with qualities that are vastly different. I use boy bands as an example of familiarity and a tool to explain my point to the best of my ability. Again, I 100% understand they are different in so many ways. For most music, every genre owes its creation to a genre or sub genre before them, it’s the same with bands, pop recording artists, etc. that’s not to take away the unique qualities that make something different, it’s simply how the evolution works. One could argue (I’m not, because I don’t like arguing, but one could) that without the monkeys, there would be no NKOTB, without NKOTB there would never have been N’Sync, etc. Again, I’m literally only trying to point out and give insight in to why these amazing groups are amazing, I have no intention of being derogatory to the group or their fan base. It’s simply a new perspective on their already known awesomeness from someone who has training and professional insight on the process that creates these amazing performances.
Did not expect this to be your second BTS reaction! A rather unusual choice but fun :D To echo others: yes, they write their songs. They are involved in every part of their music, be it production or just the concepts behind their albums. Some might have already suggested it, but if you have the time, I'd really recommend "The Bangtan 7" by Taylor Mari. It's a great guide to help you understand them as a group a little better.
You are on the money to notice their arrangements and lyrics. They have an excellent team backing them (as you can imagine) who tries really hard to showcase each member in every song. That is a hard thing to do with seven! Much of the writing of lyrics is done by their leader, RM (Namjoon), and Suga. They all participate from time to time. Several of them also produce some tracks. They are not a typical boy band. Their talents individually range far and wide. Three rappers and four singers who can all dance, sing, and rap. You are also correct that they do talk shows, commercials, brand reps (for Cartier, Prada, Dior, Calvin Klein, Hyundai, Samsung), travel vlogs, variety shows (they have done a weekly on called RunBTS for years with 150 episodes) and documentaries. There are more than 300 songs in their catalog, so you have some catching up to do! I would listen to "Yet To Come", "Blood Sweat & Tears", "I Need You" & "Pied Piper". Also check out their Tiny Desk video. They sing 3 songs. It's very entertaining. But their random live streams just chatting about nothing garners up to 6-7 million views at times - they are the definition of entertaining!
I became addicted to BTS when I discovered the many genre their work encompassed. Each brilliant in its own right. It was impossible to become bored. EDM, Hip Hop, Latin Pop, Ballad, Rap Cross over, endlessly creative production, drawing on the past but never imprisoned by it. . I think you should watch a performance of Black Swan the MV then a live performance. They sing live too. Each members music, tone and musical taste is diverse. You never really know what you will get. Each brilliant. The lyrics often are so multilayered you need an explaination video as in Korean one modifier will make a sentence have multiple meanings and each meaning will work. The quality of RMs poetical lyricism or Sugas hard hitting searing honesty is overwhelming. They will often hide deep social commentary in a catchy tune and cinematic movie videos. You should watch more to understand the diversity of this group. Their group and their solo work. They all compose write produce, often collaboratively with each other, in house producers, or even other artists. Each has record breaking music as soloists but nothing can beat a BTS concert. Even on award shows BTS come fully loaded. Always listen with headphones.
Yes BTS is just so versatile and true to themselves, they feel and care for what they are singing . That's what happens when singers and rappers really have artistic freedom and passion.
@@pennyyoung3997 (?) I literally said that they are like that when they perform because of that reason, because they are really involved in the process of making their music and take artistic decisions. 😂 I've been an army for almost 8 years so I know what I'm talking about lol
At 3:41 you say "...their songwriters know how to write songs that show off their strengths which is hard to do when you have somebody else writing your songs..." . You just assume BTS don't write their own music. As others have said in the comments BTS write their own lyrics and produce their own songs. Suga has even won awards as a producer for other artists. BTS are not your "typical boyband". If you dig deeper into their music as suggested by others you will learn that their lyrics are very meaningful - not just stereotypical love songs. Their words have helped many fans overcome problems and difficulties. I'm 70 years old and have been ARMY since 2017. BTS helped me with their words and music and lives to get through the pandemic especially because I couldn't see my family and felt very alone. I couldn't have coped without them. Please do a bit of research before you judge them 💜💜💜💜
I don't think rappers ever rap anything they didn't write for themselves. They all frequently write the lyrics and melodies, but others on staff do that sometimes, too.
Great job!! Thanks for your input. I appreciate that you show lots of love, regarding their abilities, effort, talents. BTS has so much to offer you will not know all their likes, dislikes and their level of talent. Looking forward to more and watching you learn, because if you are impressed now just wait. It all gets better and significantly. Blessings 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
you should watch or read an interview of bts explaining their writing process, specifically their rap line , or even more specifically Namjoon (RM) since he is the main songwriter of their discography lol
6:36 fun fact: (and I'm sorry, because this might sound bragging) but they're not doing arena tours anymore. they're doing stadiums. arenas are like where they practice their concerts, just like jhope.. sometimes they book 1 arena for other fans who aren't able to get tickets for the stadium, just like they did in Las Vegas (I think it was in Vegas if I remember it correctly, cause that's where the grammy was held few days before their concert) however, that doesn't mean they didn't experienced arena tours.. heck, they even experienced performing in front of 200 people or in a bar for free when they were just starting... one member tho, SUGA, had arena tour this year. although their staff and ARMY suggested stadium. and another member, RM, also chose to perform in front of 200 ARMYs for free because it's more intimate than arenas and stadiums and it's also his dream before. they also had a free concert in a stadium last year. so yeah. BTS is BIG
They of course speak Korean but are also fluent in Japanese. Rm speaks fluent English ( he learned watching friends) the other guys are getting better with their English.
Thanks for the reaction :) I think it's important to know about bts and their members before you react to more of their music, so I really recommend and hope you react to "A Guide to BTS Members, The Bangtan 7" by Taylor Mari
I think this could help you indeed. You will really understand how they make their music and what made them this popular. It will be a longer video, but trust us, it's worth it and it's not boring at all, it is not made for fans (we know everything), it's made for people who want to understand what BTS is.
Thank you for your reactions... Please react to tiny desk concert and the BTS Room live... This will give u a little taste of their songs... Kisses from Brazil..💜
This is BTS no one writing their music I think it’s too early to tell you how awesome they are but they are not a typical K-pop band They are closer to a rock band than a pop band, every and each one of them is a phenomenal performer. I think you should react to the rise of bts to know who they are, and if you really want to listen to them, you could react to the medley for their 2021 festa bts room live
The Rise of Bangtan is a fan-made documentary series- I assume that is what you were thinking about... and honestly I think he is mainly interested in their singing, at least for now. Not everyone goes to the next level, to want to understand how they got to be the phenomenon they are. He first needs to really admire them and to become curious, I hope he'll get there but it's not the moment yet for Rise of Bangtan.
thankyou before for reactiing to BTS but you should watch this live to really understand that BTS is not just typical boyband :) BTS DOPE X BAEPSAE X FIRE X RUN LIVE | BTS
I love that you started with the less known songs. There is a video with a lot of snipets of there bsides calles Bts room live 2021. It shows bts diversity the best. There is a tiny desk performance from npr in 2020 as well, if you'd like to check it out.
Hi! To really see Bts in action, I would recommend you to see their Mic drop/Run Bts performance from their Busan concert. That can be found in their Bangtantv channel 💜 Bts is made of 7 individual artists who all also have a successful solo albums, but still want to also keep on doing group stuff. They all write their own music and its all different in styles, one is more rock, one more jazzy/blues, one more pop etc etc. This group cant be pidgeonholed into the narrow boyband category that people allways first seem to try put them. One member Suga just did a whole world tour in rap/rock style and J Hope headlined solo in Lollapalooza.
Try listening to Truth Untold next. It's a ballad, and i think it's something you might enjoy. Most men get into the rap side of things first... This is nice. Bts has anything you could ask for musically. It's the way they are not exclusive, but are very open to all kinds of music to tell the story they're telling... also they write their own music - beats, lyrics, everything. Truth untold is something you'll really enjoy, i think.
I'm not assuming, i say very clearly that I don't know, and I'm learning how much these members contribute to the creative process as I go, and I love it. If I came off passive about the assumption, its simply because western pop singers aren't known for writing their own music and i was going off of what has historically been the norm. Taylor Swift is a Billionaire singer/entertainer and is responsible for maybe a quarter of her music credits... so its quite literally not the norm. I love it when "norms" or broken, and I cant wait to see more :-)
@@DavidBraileyLive what you said was and I quote "When you have somebody else write your songs" you also connected that to 'their song writer............etc etc ' sorry but you make and incorrect and ill informed Statement.
@@DavidBraileyLive DavidBraileyLive, " I'm not assuming ... its simply because western pop singers aren't known for writing their own music and i was going off of what has historically been the norm."
If you noticed, you'll see that all of them have wet hair. That's because they had been dancing their asses off prior to this song. This group dances harder and better than any "boy group" ever did past or present. Just so you know they write a large majority of their own music and also have a hand in the production too. They did not start in the usual way that most idols start. They didn't join a label as a youngster and train for many years. They did audition and were picked by Bang Si-Hyuk , the CEO and main producer of Big Hit Entertainment company. Most of the guys only trained for about 2 years and one of them, Jimin, trained less than a year before their debut. Their songs mean something to them because they helped create the song. Their 3 all English songs that came out during the pandemic were not written by them but were written by America song writers. Subsequently, they have the more poppy sound that you think of from boy bands. They were just to cheer up people during those hard times. You should listen to Black Swan where they write and sing about the fear of losing their passion for making music, where music no longer speaks to them, no longer causing their hearts to race. It has to do with a quote from a famous dancer in the ballet world Martha Graham, who stated , "A dancer dies twice - once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful.". BTS is a very deep group with many different styles of music. Please keep looking. I truly think you will be surprised. Thank you for your reactions so far.
Only 2 were by American's with one RM wrote the Rap for the other own was gifted to them by Ed Sherran the British Singer/Song Writer and composer, not American.
Please don’t assume BTS doesn’t write their own songs. It seems like you’re coming in with preconceived notions about BTS bc some classify them as a boy band. If you listen to them without any preconceived notions/assumptions, you’ll discover BTS can’t be boxed into what people think is Kpop, and that they are incredibly talented, and they write and produce their own songs. They are their own genre. Their songs are their own voices and thoughts. Their few English songs were written by others, but their Korean songs were created by them.
Once again, these are all blind reactions, I have not been exposed to this music before. After 20 years in the industry as a performer and my NYC training by industry leaders, I can assure you that when I assume something, I’m doing so with a very educated understanding of this topic. From the stage to the rehearsal studio, to the recording studios, to signing the contract, I know exactly what I’m talking about and why I’m assuming something. If you read further, you’ll notice many folks kindly informing me of my mistakes, and I love that. I’m here to give a new perspective to my viewers as well as expose myself to more new music and learn as I go. I love that they write their own music, and I’m looking forward to sitting down and diving in to more of their discography as well as a bit more in to the culture of Korean pop music.
@@DavidBraileyLive I’m not doubting your expertise in the areas you’ve worked in: rehearsal, performance, contracts, etc. I’m sure you have a lot of insights from the many years in the field. I was talking about your assumption that BTS doesn’t write their own music. Whether an artist writes their own song or not isn’t something where assumptions should be applied. It’s varies artist to artist, in all genres. It’s great that you’re getting more info from other ARMYs. BTS’s discography is huge with so many different styles and genres and I hope you enjoy discovering their music.
Many have mentioned watching The Bangtan 7 which gives a nice bio on each of the members. Another good one that will give you a sense of how deep their discography goes and more of their evolution musically is Rice Squad's, "The Most Beautiful Life Goes On: A Story of BTS (2023 Update!)". It gives a brief history of how BTS came to be and uses the chrono of their album releases to take you from their beginnings pre debut to around August 2022 it touches on how they and their sound have evolved over the years up to that point in time. It's a great foundation if you decide to go further with reacting to BTS. Enjoy.
Thank you so much for the recommendation! My next recording session is the 13th and I will certainly have more BTS as well as take a look at the documentaries. Thanks again and thanks for watching :-)
Hello! You've watched a couple of ballady songs, which they're really good at, but I hope you'll check out some of their other non-ballady things just to see their range. They're really know how to perform, partly because they started off in tiny clubs and any random place that would pay, like association dinners, fashion shows, etc. Which gave them the opportunity to hone their craft. And also because they actually write and produce their music (with lots of support from their fantastic team). They all have their strengths, but I think RM's latest solo effort, Indigo, shows great musical sophistication and eclectism. He doesn't really produce the tracks much himself, but behind the scenes, he's lauded by those who've worked with him as a great executive producer and brilliant poet/lyricist. His solo NPR tiny desk concert is a (rather hipster) treat. Everyone explores in their own ways, but I hope you won't pigeonhole them as simply a 'boyband' in the traditional sense of the word. I love the 90s us and UK boybands, and bts can do that extremely well, but they're also a lot of other things as well.
Please watch live performance medley of Dope, Baepsae, Fire, Run with English subs. Gives a view into the diversity of their music, stage presence, dance choreography etc. Watch House of Cards from the same performance as this love I'd not over. It is a vocal line song and is stunning.
I’m merely using boy bands as a reference to explain a dynamic or technique. Asking a boy band of then to do what any current group does now is like asking the Beatles to cover NKOTB… while it would be hilarious to watch them try, it doesn’t erase the fact that without originals the current wouldn’t exist.
Thank you for your reaction. I just have two comments: 1) Kpop is not a genre... it's a segment of the music industry, and 2) You'll discover, if you keep digging, BTS is not "typical" in any way, shape, or form! They are much more than a "boy band." If you dig deep enough, you'll discover the Bangtan Universe (BU), a fictional storyline that flows through about 30 of their MVs, as well as in other resources. Keep on digging! 😊💜
one of the members Jungkook produced this song, and members Jungkook, Jin, RM, SUGA and jhope together wrote this song. Especially the rappers, would never rap an verse they didn't write themselves. They ofcourse do work with in-house producers and writers, and sometimes (like a handful of songs) they've received songs from outside producers. But in their 300 song discography, that's nothing.
They sell out the biggest stadiums in the world sweetie not small Arena's in under an hour of tickets going on sale. They are only 1 of 12 acts to ever sell out Wembley Stadium and only 1 of 7 to manage that feat more than once. They have 5 Grammy nominations, 8 Billboard number 1 with all of them debuting at Number 1. They are they only artist to smash the Beatle's Record of having 3 number 1 Physical Albums in less than a year and they did it quicker that the Beatle's managed it as well. They have over 800 awards, 28 Guiness world Records the list just goes on and on. They are the only group who are able to compete with Solo Artists and are in the top 10 of the world the other's are all solo artists the closed another group have got is in the top 30. They are a group of 7 individual solo artist who are all Song Writers, Composer and Producers each to a greater or lesser extend. The 3 Rappers are the Main 3 Song Writers, Composers and Producers and the 4 vocalists also Write, Compose and Produce. The members all play at least one instrument. The Rapper's are full members of the South Korean copyright association which is very hard to become a full member of. RM has the most Song writing credits with the South Korean Copyright Association Suga (aka) is the second most accredited with the Association he's also an awarding wining Producer for another artist at another record label. The 4 vocalist are all Associate Member's of the South Korean Copyright Association. These men don't play around they are involved in every aspect of their craft including writing story boards for MV's and Jungkook the youngest member directing one of their MV's. Four of them have Masters Degree's related to the Music Industry. The other 3 are younger members are working on their Masters. They area far more than a 'Boy Band'.
Be careful about using terms like typical because this isn't typical of BTS or even kpop given that kpop isn't actually its own genre. Kpop is simply a term meaning Korean popular music that includes many genres and BTS does many of them. Arenas? They sell out stadiums in minutes for multiple days
Yep…let’s not forget that the SOLD OUT arenas were holding the OVERFLOW of people who couldn’t get a seat in the SOLD OUT stadium, and oh…don’t forget the almost one million people watching the PAID livestream of said stadium concert. Arenas? HA!
My apologies if anything I said sounded derogatory… my entire video is meant to simply explain what goes in to an amazing performance. If I’m reviewing it, I only know that it’s amazing by reputation and I want watch it and break down exactly what makes it amazing from a perspective of a performer who can watch it with a different set of eyes than a fan. If a term like “typical” came out, it only meant to point out something specific like the placement of a key change or a staging technique that is common for live performances. Any reference to lesser groups was only to better explain my point, not to take away from BTS
Thank you! Love is not over: *Produced* by *Jungkook* , Slow Rabbit *Written* by *Jungkook* , Slow Rabbit, Pdogg, *Jin* , *RM* , *SUGA* , *j-hope* *Jungkook* is the main singer and the youngest - born in 1997 - third from the left. *Jin* is the oldest and a Altotenor vocalist (second from the right). *RM* (in the middle) , *SUGA* (on the right) & *J-Hope* (first from the left) are BTS rapline. From left to right: J-Hope (rapper and main dancer) - Jimin (vocalist and main dancer) - Jungkook (main vocalist and dancer) - RM (main rapper) - V (vocalist and dancer) - Jin (vocalist) - Suga (rapper) They see themselves as partners of the label and are treated that way as they are not only performers but also songwriters and producers. Try "bby gang mag": - BTS vs. K-pop (for the section of what K-pop even is at least) - you are wrong about K- pop (and the following - it may help) - BTS: More than K-pop (the difference) If you have really time "The Rise of Bangtan"-series has a LOT of context and is thematic - it is a real documentary (the Bonus is funny and the deleted scenes may explain some stuff better). And yes: Lyrics matter a great deal to BTS - translations are not always ideal but i don't know how good these are. Nuances make a difference. (doolsetbangtan) Maybe try "On" or "Black Swan" or "Outro: Tear" (no MV) or Agust D "Haegeum" (and look up the credits for the song) They sell out stadiums (in the US) is pre-sales for multiple sales: They were global recording artist of the year 2020, 2021 and second on 2022 (anthology abum) according to the IFPI. You have no idea how big they are. Taylor Mari: Bangtan 7 (for some context) (They also turned Las Vegas into Borahegas) You nice! Keep going! 💜
They are all multi-talented but were conformed in the boy band genre' until they had to break for the army. Now they have a chance to excel on their own. So happy for them! Will they get back together? Time will tell.
I don't think I've seen very many reactions to this song, but it is a pretty one. its cool that you're starting off with live performances and such. I think you'd probably quite like their BTS Room Live performance, which is a ~10-ish minute medley of b-side tracks, one from each album. It really shows off their diversity in genre and style across their career so far. The video is on their Bangtan TV channel and it is captioned with English lyrics: th-cam.com/video/RRhjdYsNwAk/w-d-xo.html The Tiny Desk concert is also good - three full songs including one of their masterpieces, "Spring Day". Also has English lyrics on NPR's channel. I know some ARMYs are giving you a hard time about some of your assumptions, but prior to diving into BTS in late 2020, I had similar assumptions. Those assumptions weren't a turnoff for me (as they don't seem to be for you, either) because I grew up listening to boybands of the 80s and 90s and I still quite enjoy them. BTS does indeed have some very Western boyband-y pop music here and there, but it is a very small corner of their huge discography. Now that they've done solo stuff, the diversity in styles has only grown. They really don't have a "typical BTS sound" except that their sound is ever-evolving and you don't really know what they're going to do next. Kpop is very like that as an industry, as well - and it is an industry, not a genre. I think ARMY can be very defensive when reactors compare BTS to Western boybands because while those boybands are super successful in some cases, tons of people don't consider them to be "artists" in the same way they consider bands like The Beatles or The Rolling Stones or Rush, etc to be "artists". Lots of people say boyband in a dismissive way. I think that's BS, cause it takes a lot of work and talent to be in NSYNC or BSB or NKOTB, but there's still a kind of stigma, and beyond that, BTS has less in common with those groups than you might think. They definitely are not locked to one genre, and many of their live shows are more akin to performance art or even something like a musical or old variety stage shows than a pop concert. In Korea, there is a similar assumption that "idol" groups - like BTS, Stray Kidz, Blackpink, EXO - are not "artists," either, but a different kind of entertainer that doesn't deserve the same level of respect. BTS has written quite a bit about this struggle to be recognized for their artistry, especially early in their career, and there are still those who are dismissive even though they're... well, BTS. So ARMY can be a bit protective. I do hope they stay respectful though and remember that we were all new at some point. While some of the members' solo music is written by hired songwriters (mostly the English pop stuff, since only RM is fluent - JK's recent album Golden is a prime example) and they do work with an in-house team, they have always been heavily involved in their music, performances, and other content. They write and produce songs, come up with concepts for videos and stories and other content, JK has directed a music video - they have a lot of input and control over what they release. The rap line especially - RM, SUGA, and J-Hope - are very involved with group music and have a ton of solo work which they largely write and produce themselves. They are incredible writers and musicians. I can't wait to see what you react to next. 💜
To be honest, BTS are very different from your typical Korean boy band. A lot of fans take offence when things like that are said because it's just not true and quite stereotypical which BTS fight to get away from. From your reaction it seems you think of BTS as quite a basic group but they are far from it. You've reacted to a cover and an intro song, barely shows off any of their music and lyrics.
Relax and learn how to accept when others correct you 😊
I had to laugh a bit at 3:50 because they do write most of their music themselves, especially the three rappers RM, SUGA and J-Hope
RM has over 200 songwriting credits, SUGA around 160 (he also produces a lot for himself, BTS and other artists) and J-Hope around 130
They really are amazing and I am so happy you started with live performances, because they are so amazing live!
@@DavidBraileyLive Yes I could tell you were still being respectful, otherwise I just wouldn't bother leaving a comment at all
I think it's normal to have preconceived notions before getting to know something. I was the same 😅
And I know it is sometimes hard for reactors because some ARMYs can be really protective of BTS and are so used to them being belittled, that those ARMYs react angrily
Fun fact, this is what the writing credits for Love Is Not Over look like:
Produced by Jungkook, Slow Rabbit
Written by Jungkook, Slow Rabbit, Pdogg, Jin, RM, SUGA, j-hope
Slow rabbit and pdogg are two long-time in-house producers, all other names listed (Jungkook, Jin, RM, j-hope, SUGA) are BTS members.
Seriously - it will help you to know their path, get to know what is behind their music and allow you to enjoy it more.

this should go up
New reactors always seem to make the mistake of knowing just a little bit about Kpop and making all kinds of assumptions based on their limited knowledge. Painfully, it reminds me of having a dinner guest who looks at your decor and then tries to explain your life to you. (Sorry, a weird analogy, but this recently happened to me.)
frankly, I don't understand the need to compare everything they hear to American music. Yes, it's what they know. I get it. But imagine someone traveling to China (or France or Korea or Russia) and comparing the language they hear to English.
bts are not the typical kpop group or boyband :)
They started out as a hip-hop group and their label was not a kpop label, the two first members were underground rappers.
Gracias un placer de vocales 💜💜💜💜💜🇦🇷 Argentina
You don't know BTS from 2 songs one being a cover
They are so much more than you assume
But thanks for the reaction and appreciation

That’s not what my video is doing, and I’m sorry if you thought I was being in any way derogatory towards them. I may not “Know” BTS, but I do know what it takes to create amazing performances. It’s actually my job. So with my insight, I break down the performance and tell you what goes in to everything you see on stage. In order for me to do that accurately I use examples from relative groups and styles to explain my point to the best of my ability.
@@DavidBraileyLive I didn't mean it as a complaint 💜
Great reaction! I can tell it's authentic. Thank you for the honest opinion.
It's a surprising reaction (it's not a very well know live performance). Thanks for reacting to it and to BTS ! You should keep on reacting to them live as it really showcases the emotion and their vocals even better than in the studio versions.
Here's some suggestions for you to react to (these are the exact names of the videos on TH-cam) :
- BTS (방탄소년단) 'Film out' @ MUSIC BLOOD
- [Eng HD] 200727 BTS Your Eyes Tell Live Fuji TV [Live]
- BTS (방탄소년단) 'Blue & Grey' @ MTV Unplugged
- BTS (방탄소년단) 'Take Two' Live Clip #2023BTSFESTA
- BTS (방탄소년단) - The Truth Untold [Live Stage Mix w/ Lyrics]
All of these are amazing VOCAL performances (you haven't seen them dance yet, it's just as good as their singing but let's keep that for another time) can't wait to see more !
You gotta react to Magic Shop their live performance it's absolutely insane not to mention you can hear the fans sing with them
BTS are 7 individual, talent, different type of artists.
I highly recommend watching Introduction to BTS by Taylor Mari
Did not expect this to be your second BTS reaction! A rather unusual choice but fun :D
To echo others: yes, they write their songs.
Would love for you to check out their cover of Coldplay's Fix You.
Yes BTS is just so versatile and true to themselves, they feel and care for what they are singing . That's what happens when singers and rappers really have artistic freedom and passion.
BTW, BTS wrote most of their music. Look into BTS before you speak.
@@pennyyoung3997 (?) I literally said that they are like that when they perform because of that reason, because they are really involved in the process of making their music and take artistic decisions. 😂

Please do a bit of research before you judge them 💜💜💜💜
Thank you I just wrote the same comment before seeing your's.
I don't think rappers ever rap anything they didn't write for themselves. They all frequently write the lyrics and melodies, but others on staff do that sometimes, too.
I would definitely delve into more original songs- fake love, black swan etc etc.
They write most of their own songs AND produce most of it too!
I had not heard this song. It's really good!

It all gets better and significantly. Blessings 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
you should watch or read
an interview of bts explaining their writing process, specifically their rap line , or even more specifically Namjoon (RM) since he is the main songwriter of their discography lol
6:36 fun fact: (and I'm sorry, because this might sound bragging) but they're not doing arena tours anymore. they're doing stadiums. arenas are like where they practice their concerts, just like jhope.. sometimes they book 1 arena for other fans who aren't able to get tickets for the stadium, just like they did in Las Vegas (I think it was in Vegas if I remember it correctly, cause that's where the grammy was held few days before their concert)
however, that doesn't mean they didn't experienced arena tours.. heck, they even experienced performing in front of 200 people or in a bar for free when they were just starting...
one member tho, SUGA, had arena tour this year. although their staff and ARMY suggested stadium.
and another member, RM, also chose to perform in front of 200 ARMYs for free because it's more intimate than arenas and stadiums and it's also his dream before.
they also had a free concert in a stadium last year. so yeah. BTS is BIG
They of course speak Korean but are also fluent in Japanese. Rm speaks fluent English ( he learned watching friends) the other guys are getting better with their English.
Thanks for the reaction :)
I think it's important to know about bts and their members before you react to more of their music, so I really recommend and hope you react to "A Guide to BTS Members, The Bangtan 7" by Taylor Mari
I think this could help you indeed. You will really understand how they make their music and what made them this popular.
BTS does not sing others songs, as a rule. They write their own as well as produce it. I do enjoy your reactions.

Don't assume they get the music written for them...they are very involved in writing and producing their own music.. especially lyrics

He's also listened as the Sound Engineer on very song on Indigo as well as Producer and lyricst.
Please watch live performance medley of Dope, Baepsae, Fire, Run with English subs. Gives a view into the diversity of their music, stage presence, dance choreography etc. Watch House of Cards from the same performance as this love I'd not over. It is a vocal line song and is stunning.
BTS write their songs 😅
Actually Jungkook produced this one as well
"... typical boy band..."
oh, yeah no.
Try Ugh, Run BTS, Black Swan, House of Card all in one go. And try find me a similar boyband that can do that.
Thank you!
Love is not over:
*Produced* by *Jungkook* , Slow Rabbit
*Written* by *Jungkook* , Slow Rabbit, Pdogg, *Jin* , *RM* , *SUGA* , *j-hope*
*Jungkook* is the main singer and the youngest - born in 1997 - third from the left.
*Jin* is the oldest and a Altotenor vocalist (second from the right).
*RM* (in the middle) , *SUGA* (on the right) & *J-Hope* (first from the left) are BTS rapline.
From left to right:
J-Hope (rapper and main dancer) - Jimin (vocalist and main dancer) - Jungkook (main vocalist and dancer) - RM (main rapper) - V (vocalist and dancer) - Jin (vocalist) - Suga (rapper)
They see themselves as partners of the label and are treated that way as they are not only performers but also songwriters and producers.
Try "bby gang mag":
- BTS vs. K-pop (for the section of what K-pop even is at least)
- you are wrong about K- pop (and the following - it may help)
- BTS: More than K-pop (the difference)
If you have really time "The Rise of Bangtan"-series has a LOT of context and is thematic - it is a real documentary (the Bonus is funny and the deleted scenes may explain some stuff better).
And yes:
Lyrics matter a great deal to BTS - translations are not always ideal but i don't know how good these are. Nuances make a difference. (doolsetbangtan)
Maybe try "On" or "Black Swan" or "Outro: Tear" (no MV) or Agust D "Haegeum" (and look up the credits for the song)
They sell out stadiums (in the US) is pre-sales for multiple sales:
They were global recording artist of the year 2020, 2021 and second on 2022 (anthology abum) according to the IFPI. You have no idea how big they are.
Taylor Mari: Bangtan 7 (for some context)
(They also turned Las Vegas into Borahegas)
You nice! Keep going! 💜
👀
Hi again 👍🏻💜💜🇲🇽🇲🇽💜💜
Good morning!
Only one comment…Stadiums not arenas… Suga just sold out a whole arena tour by himself… Could have sold out stadiums.
