- I often get inquiries like this:
"Since I have been living in Japan for 5 years, I want to apply for Naturalization."
In this case, you need to check the contents of your status of 5 years.
This is not as simple as living in Japan for more than 5 years.
Among these 5 years, in order to qualify, you need to have been working in Japan for at least 3 years on working visa.
One of the requirements for naturalization is the livelihood requirement, and this is because, they think, to build a stable foundation of life, it takes about 3 years of work.

Can I apply if I have got phone black list in past 😢
If you have a criminal record as “sagi” 4 yrs ago ...Can a permanent visa apply for a Japanese Naturalization?
Unfortunately, no.
sensie is ssw1 can apply for naturalization?
Hi i just want to ask, im born in japan but raised in philippines do i still have a chance to be japanese citizen?
How old are you?
It depends on many factors. Japan adopts Jus Sanguinis, so if you have a parent with Japanese citizenship, you were eligible for Japanese citizenship at birth. If both of your parents are foreign-nationals, being born in Japan does not make you eligible for Japanese citizenship.
That said, children of foreign-nationals raised and educated in Japan are given special consideration in Permanent Visa or Naturalization because they have the necessary fluency in language and culture to survive in Japan. Naturally, all of the legal procedures, documents and interviews will be in Japanese.
Hello sir .
What happens if applicant doesnot want japnease citizen any more ? Is it possible to get back to own native citizenship ?
You need to apply for your chosen citizenship.

Of course it's easier in terms of requirements.
I think the video's title and content are two different topics.
Is it easier to get Naturalization than Permanent Residence? The answer is both "Yes" and "No", but for me, it is a "Yes". As I have already applied and received my Japanese Citizenship, I will say that it is easier IF you have a strong Japanese Language skill (the stronger, the better) and a good record of tax payment.
In the video, however, you talk about taking Naturalization as an alternative to Permanent Residence. For this one, I have to agree. Naturalization is not an alternative option to Permanent Residency Visa. The commitment is very different and the requirement is also very different. However, they both share the same goal and that is you can live in Japan for a long period of time. I took Naturalization over Permanent Residence Visa because I wanted to get rid of my old citizenship. My previous country's system is already dead and rotten by the corrupted communist Military dictatorship. People that want to sink with that ship can go ahead and do it. As for me, I abandoned that ship and watched it sank. Looking back today, I can happily say that it was the best decision ever.
Hello there I have the same situation with you. I want to change my nationality so badly. Could you give me some advise and may,I know what kind of visa and length do you have when u applied for naturalization.
Very well explained!
