Siiiiick, I really dig the final result! It's a really cohesive and beautifully packaged break down of the album and the methods behind it. I had never thought of the simple/complex contrast that they use in this one. Thank you for trusting me with this one Lucas, it means a lot!
I absolutely love that I found your channel. I feel like you are creating great content much needed in the indie producer niche. So happy for you and what you are up to!
nice video , funny you were 5 when this came out I was like 17 18 and played it constantly! I feel like your my Radiohead little brother ha great taste bro
Please don't apologize for the music theory. Sophisticated music like Radiohead doesn't just happen. They know what they are doing, and we need to know also. Knowledge is a good thing. The more the better.
Very much agreed! There's a weird trend though in the modern music world of people rejecting theory which is why I approach it cautiously. Imo there certainly is a time and a place to turn off the analytical part of your brain and let the music carry you (kind of what theory haters advocate for), but I think being able to look back and analyze/understand what you did in that flow state is super important too!
that's a hell of a great video man. keep up the good work, very few channels on youtube are on this level of quality and showing step by step every little thing you did, and in a such fluid way. in rainbows is also my favourite of them, so keep up with the taste too! hahah. got me subbed.
this video was amazing! just what i was looking for, i was very impressed throughout the entire video, especially when you started singing, you got some amazing vocals! thank you very much for this video, i would love to see more videos on how to sound like radiohead but inspired on their other albums, that would be sick!
This turned out fantastic. Too many of these type videos get so bogged down in the hyper-specifics of compression, reverb, etc. and lose structure, melody, and arrangement as a result, which this didn't.
dude this is great! just starting to produce my own stuff for fun and you made learning much more intriguing than traditional tutorials. not to mention the quality video recording. sick video👍🏾
I don’t think the end result really sounds like Radiohead. What makes them a great band is that every song is a well-honed idea, agonised over months and years until it is crystallised and perfect. The idea of this song is that it’s an at attempt to copy their ‘sound’ but it has, as far as I can tell, no emotional depth and does not communicate anything at all. That’s why we like Radiohead, because their songs are speaking to us. Do you know what I mean?
@@kurtcleary6794 I make these videos for artists who have something to communicate, as you say, but are struggling to express it. My goal is to analyze the music theory and production behind the artists I recreate to make their “sound” more accessible. That way, people who are like Radiohead and have something to communicate are better equipped to do so. And it’s true that, on their own, sound/production style/theory are superficial. I make my own song in these videos to have a little bit of fun and show an example of applying all the theory discussed so it doesn’t come across like a boring university lecture. And yeah, I usually whip up the songs in an afternoon or so, and put most of my artistic & creative energy into making my own music and producing for other artists, which is my full-time job. So, sorry that I didn’t live up to the standard of one of the greatest albums of all time on a 20-minute educational video lol
Slightly off topic, or a far more general one - I was gobsmacked when you said you were 5 when this album was released; when I was 5, Thom Yorke was 3…and I was 30 when OK Computer came out. That is my favorite RH album, and in my top 5 ever by anyone. It was one of those that comes around once a decade that changes your life. What are your thoughts on OKC?
@@midlife_crossroads totally agree! Ok Computer and Kid A are also some of my favourite albums of all time. So is The Bends. And Amnesiac. And A Moon Shaped Pool, lol. Even though some of the records were a bit before my time Radiohead has pretty much soundtracked my life!
I think you did a good job of providing some inspiration to bedroom musicians like myself. Yeah it doesn’t sound like Radiohead, but if it did, that would be pretty insulting to their creativity if it was that easy. One thing you might factor into your videos might be to just come across more humble. I actually didn’t watch the whole video end to end but, but from what I saw I could understand if some people might find it “over simplifying” what is generally considered some of the most intricate music on the planet. Well done anyway
UPDATE: I was already subbed lol. Must’ve seen another video of yours that I dug during the last few years… bit of a blur. Happy to report currently 5+ months sober from alcohol ✌🏼take care bro
This is a wild take. I'm one music degree in and have yet to find anything that speaks to me on the same level. How does the year something was made have anything to do with it being great?
thanks so much! yeah i started off trying to do a thom yorke impersonation but i felt like it cheapened it a lot, just decided to do it in my own voice instead!
Very cool, thought it was funny that it came out sounding like Berklee jazz + radiohead
haha that must be the music school coming out from both of us! can be a blessing and a curse
This is fantastic! I'd love to see you do a full version of this song!

super glad you like it! thanks so much for being a part of this video, couldn’t have done it without you!

thank you so much, super glad to hear it!
It's crazy that you only have 4k! I wish I found this vid sooner
ah thanks so much, I really appreciate it :)
I'm a producer/songwriter and I also play in a Radiohead cover band. In Rainbows is absolutely my fave. Great content!
ahh thank you, that sounds like an amazing gig haha!! what’s your favourite radiohead song to play?
@@lucasfourniermusic So many! How To Disappear Completely and Weird Fishes/Arpeggi are definitely up there!
nice video , funny you were 5 when this came out I was like 17 18 and played it constantly! I feel like your my Radiohead little brother ha great taste bro
glad you enjoyed! Radiohead's music totally transcends generations, I've got 3+ generations in my family who are all obsessed with Radiohead
Great content man. Has anybody ever told you that you give slight John Mayer vibes? haha meant as a compliment!

thank you, super glad to hear that! I definitely want to do more Radiohead vids in the future, and it's true, each album deserves its own
That 9th chord on jigsaw section reminds me more of the john mayer - no such thing lol
Sounds more like a Puma Blue song but I'll take that
idk Puma Blue, sounds like I need to check them out! Thanks for watching :)
Bro Lucas keeps dropping HEAT.
haha thanks so much!

thanks so much! glad to hear that, I always try to not get TOO nerdy in these videos, as difficult as it is sometimes lol

Great video! Lots of stuff I will be implementing
super glad to hear! is your username a montreal reference by any chance?
@@lucasfourniermusic lol yeah, im one of rish’s friends 😅
Do you have any vocal presets for sale?
no I don't unfortunately, not a huge fan of one-size-fits-all presets tbh
I Love Radiohead but if anything from your lifetime is your favorite album, you need some deeper musical education

Nice job
thank you!
damn forget the production, the vocals are great! Not radiohead like, great in another way
thanks so much! yeah i started off trying to do a thom yorke impersonation but i felt like it cheapened it a lot, just decided to do it in my own voice instead!
Wow that's uncanny how in the valley you are.
haha the valley is my home
Great vocals sounds like conor from nbt
i take that as a huge compliment haha!
It's sounds more like a jeff Bulckey's song at the beggining
yeah i definitely hear that!! it’s a bit tough to sound like thom yorke when I…sound nothing like thom yorke lol
You sound a bit like Thom 🖤🖤
tbh i thought i did at least a little bit until i ran it through AI Thom then i was like oh…😂
