    After hours of searching I finally found a video that makes finger positioning and the certain frets easy to understand.

    Phenomenal lesson for someone learning the bass! And I love the groove at 5:45! Just the punch and the slap you’re getting out of that J bass without slapping it is definitely something I’d be interested in learning how to do. I’m sure part of it is the attack with your fingers but I’m guessing another part of it is the strings, and Pick Up choices? And I’m just noticing now you have five knobs on that bass… I’ve never seen more than three or four.

      Good question, his recommendation for a starter bass is unavailable I hope he has another choice and I'm curious about what he's playing

    I am very glad you put these into context when explaining the scale .It is allowing my ear to learn and recognise upon hearing.Which is my goal atm.(preparing for my venture into soloing and slap) Your videos are the best and you are a true master of bass. Not to mention,your teaching method is not only inspirational to a beginner like myself, but super condusive for someone who can only play by ear at this point, but trying to aquire a good working knowledge for forming and applying lines that are not in root note.

    Great way to see it. Also a good approach would be intervals and that would cover all patterns.

    i'm not an expert at music theory, but these are basically modes for the major pentatonic scale, right? I could be wrong tho. Anyways, thanks for the lesson, much appreciated as always. Grabbed my bass as soon as is saw the notification.

      That’s correct -it’s just starting on a different degree of the pentatonic scale.

    You could try filing the nails. Sometimes if I forget to file the same thing happens only scratch myself lol this makes me think btw....having longer nails on the fingers has an interesting crisp effect especially with harmonics I've noticed.

    Mr. D: What is your set up for recording these amazing videos? Are we hearing you amp mic'd up or are you playing through an audio interface or DAW? Love your approach.

    So you start the scales on the A string, so when you use the fat E string, are you playing the octave of the notes on the fat E string? For example, on the C scale, are you playing the G note on the fat E string with the octave in the C scale?

    Hey , the dog does what makes him/her a dog it´s in their instincts. We on the other hand have no clue of our place in the world. I live with cats, whenever they do cats need to do even if it bothers me I remember I chose to share my place with them. Thank you for the lesson though, cool as always.

  • @LeFingal
    @LeFingal 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    wdym? Now i am really confused, because, if you know pentatonic on a G, you just do the same on A, and same on B, and same on C, and same on D, and same on E... The patters are the exact same on each note, so just transfer what you learned on C to G or go F or whatever. Same goes for dorian and blues scales :) You only need to learn it on for instance C, and know where you all C's on the neck is, its better tho to learn first G and then Gminor penta because they are slighty different in how you ride :)

    Thank you for vision of music theory. I know that is helpful too many including myself. But at the end you race through your run. Slow it down so that we can get a better understanding of what you are trying show us. You are losing a lot of us by racing through the runs. Other than that, love what you are doing.
