I’m so glad you participated in this collab since new viewers will discover you.
Here’s an idea for you to try in your roaster one day: caramelize a boatload of onions. I’ve done it in my crockpot for around 10-14 hours. You can then save meal-sized portions for later use - a great start on meal prep!

      @dorothyyoung8231 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@flowergod12 you can because most of us like to fuss a bit. But you don’t really need to. It cooks down on its own and it’s evenly caramelized by the time it’s done!

I am from Ontario Canada and I just started watching your videos, when I was younger my dad grew a garden pretty much the same size that you have and I would always be out there with him tending to it, I got married and had my 4 kids and did not have any time to do a garden, now that I am in my 60's and moving to a new town out in the country I am going to build a garden come spring of 2023. I just finished making this soup with tomatoes that were given to me and my oh my, so delicious and so much better then store bought canned stuff, I will be making this more often now that winter in on its way. Thanks so much for all your videos, they are very informative and very helpful :)

It’s really inspiring to see someone who shows so much of the “real life” side of things. When I watch other TH-camrs, it can be a disheartening when it seems like they dedicate every waking hour to their home steads. Watching your videos, seeing how you manage to do all this and work full time and have so much going on in your life, makes me feel like this is something I could actually achieve myself one day. Thank you for all the inspiration!!

I made roasted tomato soup in the heat of August when I had tomatoes coming in every day. This makes me want to pull some out and cozy up with grilled cheese but at 39 weeks pregnant tomatoes are amplifying my crazy heartburn. Becky love your channel and your enthusiasm is contagious. I like many watchers am on a very tight budget with a very small social security check. While I'd like to buy the vitamix and other items you feature there us mo room in my budget. I love your channel and you make it seem like so much fun to be gardening and cooking. It's not feasible for some of us who are doing good just to get any food from the local grocery store.
Id love to have a freeze drying machine and freeze dry a lot of stuff instead of taking up freezer space but the cost is not in my budget. I'm sure others who love your channel are facing the same problem how to do these things that you teach without the products to do them like the Vitamix, or a freeze drying machine. Could you teach some alternatives to your recipes that dont need these expensive products?
Please keep doing your channel and teaching people because your joy for what you do is needed these days.
For me its a nice deversion from chemotherapy for breast cancer. Thanks for bring joy to a world that can be hard at times.

Looking forward to trying some fig preserves on my grilled cheese in the future. I like adding a little bit of smokeD Gouda to along with other cheese which adds just enough smokiness to it. But one of my favorite grilled cheese had provolone, medium cheddar and a cheese I can’t begin to pronounce or spell. It is caramel color which is a good clue you have found the right one since I have never seen another that color. I found it at Wegmans but I don’t think that store is on the west coast. And the final thing I added was thinly sliced apples. There is a mild caramel flavor to the brown cheese. For me this was a great combo.
Once winter sets in it would be great to have a grilled cheese challenge using any cheeses except American to challenge everyone’s imagination.

The Vitamix makes such a huge difference with tomatoes. Why bother skinning them with the Vitamix? It’s super smooth where the hand blender leaves a chunky skin texture if you don’t remove the skins. I got a Vitamix for christmas this year and was hoping that when tomato season came my suspicion that the skins would be smooth and unnoticeable would be true and it was.

Tomato soup and sandwiches have been a staple since I was a kid (although our sandwich of choice is usually tuna) but the soup was always from that iconic red and white can. I was feeling adventurous a couple years ago and followed a recipe similar to yours and was simply floored at how much better tomato soup can be. This is now the new staple.

How absolutely delightful! It’s spring here down under, and this is such a good idea once our tomatoes are in season!

Looks great! When I am in a hurry to get fast grilled cheese sandwiches, I put them unbuttered on a plate and microwave for 10-2- seconds just to get cheese warm and almost melty. Then I put each one (still unbuttered) in a small nonstick pan and toast the bread. These come out great for my taste.

    Great video.
Take the vita mix and add water 1/3 to 1/2 full and 1 to 2 drops dish soap and put lid on it and run it 30 to 40 seconds and that helps clean it especially on bottom. The guy on QVC who sales it Gene told every one that all host. I do that and it sure helps clean bottom great.
    Love my vita mix.

That was a fabulous video. I loved the different colours of the tomatoes going into it, the box of them made me want to dye a ‘tomato gradient’ colourway on some of my handspun wool. Thank you for the recipe.

I made this with my garden tomatoes and basil. Very delicious. Also I used oat milk as a replacement for the cream and it works really well. We use Califa oat milk which is a little thicker than others but very good with cooking
