🔧 The first 200km brought us face-to-face with the harsh reality of the Outback as we encountered our first flat tire. With no prior experience in changing a tire and no one around for miles, we found ourselves in a tight spot. After a bit of fumbling, thanks to Cristiana consulting the manual, we located the elusive jack. The vastness of the uncharted roads became evident as we navigated this hurdle with no phone signal in sight.
🛠️ Wrestling with the stubborn tire, we overcame the odds and pressed on, determined to conquer the Great Central Road. Our next pitstop, Lasseter's Cave, offered a brief respite, showcasing the beauty of the Australian Outback. However, our break turned into another unexpected challenge when we returned to find our car lifeless - a drained battery adding to the adventure!
🕵️♂️ Enter Joao, our hero of the day, who identified the issue: a loose cable disconnecting from the battery. As we fixed the problem, we couldn't shake the feeling that perhaps we were navigating through a cursed journey. Undeterred, we pushed forward, determined to make it to our next milestone.
🌄 The journey continued, each kilometer adding to the epic tale of our adventure. We pressed on until we reached the Warakurna Roadhouse, our oasis in the vast desert. As the sun set on the horizon, we reflected on the challenges overcome and the thrill of the unknown that lay ahead.

Always carry a Beacon with you so you can send a distress signal and then emergency assistance will arrive to help you .You guys are awesome !
It is quite shocking to see how unprepared people can be. A sat phone is the minimum to carry, suitable tyres, etc...

On gcr a sat phone is not req today, a good CB is , preparation certainly is req .Some knowlage of your veh is . These two were very lucky indeed a good example of what NOT to do they broke EVERY rule in the book VERY LUCKY glad they got to safety
Live & Learn, when travelling in the outback always carry plenty of food & water. People will always stop & help.
Indeed, in the outback you can never take the chance of not being prepared
I don’t want to be rude but you have no business being in the outback if you think a simple flat tyre is the worst that can happen and clearly have zero mechanical knowledge. This video is a great example of how people die in remote parts of Australia. I’m not saying don’t travel there, but you need to take spare parts, tools, and have even the slightest clue about your vehicle.
We should have been prepared for these type of situations and we agree with you, luckily nothing serious happened but it just goes to show how some situations are completely the traveller’s fault.
We learnt the lesson and we wish we would have listened to the advice we read online when organising this trip. Hope that others can see this and not make the same mistake we did
Everyone else watching this at least check you have tire changing equipment and even a second spare tire and a battery pack starter. I'm Australian and the outback is no playground for newbies.

Wow judging from your trip perhaps you really underestimated the outback. It can be dangerous too even the locals have not attempted to try the road trip.
We did underestimated the outback, we always think that everything is going to be fine - until it’s not 😅😅🥲
@@Travelgramers Not long ago an English couple backpackers one being raped alive & the other being murdered and the body has not been found. They are bad people holding gun in the outback. Not trying to scare you but you must be vigilance. They were horror stories happened to backpackers in the outback. When bad things happened, you are completely on your own. It is too far to get help and there is no internet unless your car has installed a satellite radio. Even so it is hard to locate you as central Australia is simply too big.
@roamingalone5226 you are absolutely right, no matter where we are in the world we should always be wary and prepared - if something serious was to happen to us it would be 110% our fault for not taking any advice we read online at the time.
We hope that others can see this and take it as a lesson

Carry tools, a puncture repair kit( very easy to use), heaps of water and when the road has plenty of corrugations, speed up to over 80 kms and the car will handle the bumps a lot better.
Have you ever seen Wolf Creek?
That might be an explanation for the disconnected battery terminal.

Great tips that we failed to follow due to “nothing will happen” mindset. Hope others watching this take these precautions and be prepared.

Anything between 10°c and 50°c
Malaysia and Brunei are humid with tropical weather. There was actually desert dry hot 🥵 a lot similar to the heat we have in the summer in Portugal 🙃🙃

I share the views of the other seasoned outback travellers. You should have also monitored your tyre pressures with a compressor. You should not have attempted to change the tyre in the heat.The better view is to do it later or earlier in the day when the effects of the sun are less savage. I strongly suggest from the stressful activities you both endured in the harsh heat.At the very least get medical advice on having an ECG/EKG test and if appropriate then have a stress test. According to Jack Absalom a man died of heart failure in his sleep after reaching Birdsville from a desert crossing .He also changed a tyre earlier in the day in similar circumstances that you encountered.
You did not state how much water you took with you.Running out of water is the easiest way to die.
I always travel with an absolute minimum of 6 litres of water per person per day .
You should have also done a 4 wheel drive and bush survival course.
My speculation is you have been event free if you dropped your tyre pressures to about 25 PSI when you hit the dirt and once a day every day checked the car and tightened up anything that was loose. If this occurred you should have picked up the battery problem.
If you traveled in any more remote regions you may not have survived.I did the Anne Beadell Highway and did not see any moving vehicles for 6 days. If you did this trip with your problems and were stranded you may have died.
Anyone who has limited or no remote travel experience should do an appropriate course before exploring the nooks and crannies of our great nation.
I respect you in advertising to the public at large how potentially dangerous remote travel can be.
