🌵 Day 1: Yulara to Warakurna Roadhouse
Our adventure kicked off with a flat tire and a dead battery, but against all odds, we pushed through and made it to Warakurna Roadhouse, a remote oasis in the heart of the Australian outback.
🔧 Day 2: Warakurna to Warburton Roadhouse
Just when we thought the worst was behind us, we discovered a nail in one of our tires. Stranded in the vast desert, a hero from the roadhouse staff came to our rescue, fixing the tire and giving us a renewed sense of hope.
⏳ Day 3: Stranded in the Desert
With assistance days away, we braved the isolation of the desert at Tjukayirla Roadhouse, battling scorching temperatures of 47 degrees. Our endurance was put to the test, but our determination prevailed.
🌅 Day 4: Tjukayirla to Menzies
Rising with the sun, we continued our journey, passing through Leonora and finally finding solace at Menzies Caravan Park. It was here that we took a much-needed break, reflecting on the challenges that shaped our expedition.

Said you thought there wasn’t anything to see. I guess given you were crossing at a bad time of year, during the heat, you really didn’t want to stop and look. We travel the GCR a couple of times a year and absolutely love it, something different to see every trip. The stars at night! The spectacular sunsets against various cliffs and rock formations, the gnamma holes and caves - and more. Unfortunately it seems you hadn’t properly researched the trip and were definitely under prepared, I would love to think that maybe one day you will try again. Safe and happy touring of our wonderful state of WA.

You guys are a gem . You are strong , brave and have the courage to drive through the Aussie desert .Even though it is flat and boring to you , I love how the sky looks huge and meets the landscape .The road appears endless and you can look as far as you can see . That is beauty !
You dont know how lucky you are , even some of the locals have perished in that country . 37 deg is not hot , your lucky it wasn't hot or you might have been in a lot of trouble . I would not advise others to try the same going unprepared .Over my 30yrs going out there GCR & surrounds I have had to help out several vehicles who have NOT prepared for the trip , Im glad your safe but you were lucky

@@Travelgramers Proper preparation trumps bad luck every time . those tyres were not just worn out but unsuitable for outback travel. Having said that I hope you enjoyed your time in Australia.
What you need is a puncture repair kit. Any crews or nails can be fixed with out even taking the wheel off. But you will need to inflate the tyre so you should carry a compressor with you. This will help too if you need to decrease the tyre pressure for soft sand and then once on harder ground pump the tyres back up to correct pressure.
Those tyres need replacing as they are worn down to the tread mark. You keep travelling on tyres like that you're asking for trouble.
They did not even have a tyre pressure gauge

I respect both of you being candid with your trip. You have advertised the potential dangers of remote out back travel.
You should urgently get checked out by a cardiologist and have an ECG and a stress test. You may have suffered heart damage with your activities.
Jack Absalom reported a man died at Birdsville after changing a tyre in heat during the day in similar conditions you experienced.
The flat tyre may have been caused by your tyre pressures being too high.
You should have done both a 4WD and a bush survival course.
My 4WD gets comprehensively serviced before I undertake any remote trip.
Any remote driving I do is accompanied by; an air compressor (to adjust tyre pressures), spare parts, tools, EPIRB, X 2 5 watt UHF radios, SAT. phone, X2 spare tyres , 10+ days of food , a mirror to reflect your position on the ground from air craft and most importantly, an absolute minimum of 6 litres of water , per person, per day .
When I did the Anne Beadell Highway, I did not pass any other moving vehicles for 6 days. If you had your problems when I was on the Anne Beadell you both may have perished.
You made no comment on walking away from the car. Near Lake Eyre a couple had a similar experience, she decided to walk to get help and perished. Her grave/memorial is located on the side road to Lake Eyre from William Creek.
You should have changed the tyre later in the day or, if you could not change the tyre relax, stay in the shade, and wait for someone else to arrive and help you.
You are both lucky in the extreme as your adventure could have ended with the undeserved death of either or both of you.
I also agree with other seasoned remote travellers.

Oh gosh, it was indeed a no fun adventure, driving thru' that desert road with a few problems to the jeep. Great of you both to give some tips and advice and the best is you guys managed to reach a better place and are alive...😄😛 Thank you for sharing this informative video.

Também estou a seguir o percurso dos Viajando Mundo Af0ra , pela Namíbia ... e , pelo que me é dado a ver , estou em crer que o deserto da Namíbia é bem mais fácil de atravessar ... 🤔
As estradas são ótimas e , até agora , eles não sofreram nenhum percalço de maior ...
( Suponho que as temperaturas sejam mais elevadas aí na Austrália ) ...
Estou aprendendo muito com corajosos viajantes que se aventuram por desertos ... ( e não só ) !...

You should both take a lotto ticket. The GCR is a very unforgiving place let alone in summer. To blithely take it on with very little preparation is putting yourselves at risk. There is lots to see if you take the time. Giles weather station and Gwalia at Leonora to name a couple.
If you went via Adelaide to Perth coastal road your experience will be vastly different. I cannot imagine any locals will go via that inner road to be honest. You must consider yourself to be lucky to come out in one piece :)

What time of year did you do the trip?? Warburton temps during winter are usually mid to high 20s.. NOT high 40s
You’ve got a kings tent weighing nearly 100kg on track mount racks.. that’s just asking for trouble
Half bald highway tyres on those sorts of roads?? No way man
Alloy bull bar, petrol Prado (lot of 20+ year old technology there if something goes wrong), looks to be standard height suspension, the list could go on..
Anyway, congrats on what looked to be a huge effort. But we live in a massive, unforgiving country and you GOT to be prepared. Lose the tent, better more aggressive tyres, second spare, more water, steel bar, winch, diesel vehicle, travel with a second party if possible..
That dust we call bull dust and you will find it gets in and everywhere of your vehicle.
Easy times don't make good stories or memories
I admire your sense of adventure but nobody in their right minds drives off into that country in the summer. You were fortunate that there was someone available to make the repair to your tyre but it is also possible to make a temporary repair with tyre plugs and these kits, and knowing how to use them, should always be carried in these remote regions. Frankly, the road doesn't look in such bad condition, I've travelled over much worse tracks than this.
Well done Guys I live in Australia I wouldn't drive that road in a old car .
No. There is plenty to see. You were looking the wrong way and wrong time. It is at night and in the sky. You would have the best views of the stars and all the celestial bodies in the Universe, without any contamination from city lights. Great for people interested in astronomy.
