Thats great Scott. They are great materials and should last a long time. Do let me know if you want any decals in the future though. Good luck with everything.
Needed to wrap my Fox 34’s and all the only info I got with the vinyl was about using baby shampoo and water, not how to actually do it!! This video was super useful, thank you 👍
Thanks Tom2, that's very kind of you to say. I don't make any money out of TH-cam (too few subscribers) I just do this for fun, so that's really nice to hear, thank you 😁😁
What you're saying makes perfect sense. However, I chose to put them on top of the invis vinyl because I wasn't sure I liked the colour of the "Fox" logo and I thought I might change them in the future for a different colour scheme. That's it really, nothing more than the ability to change colour scheme more easily, that's all. As it is, 3 years later and over 3.5 thousand miles on the bike and I haven't changed them and they look just as good as they did when first fitted. Hope that helps 😁😁
@@scottgoodski cool, thanks for the reply I was just wondering because I just purchased new decals & also purchased ride wrap so wasn’t sure how to do it until I just seen your video…. Btw Great video

Thanks for that nice video. Thumps up! Allthough i have a question. I ordered a brand new pair of Fox 38s and i also ordered a kit of Invis foil. Can i install the foil over the factory stickers or should i remove them before? Does it look good or does much air get stuck inbetween the sticker and frame. Thanks.
Thank you for your nice comment. Now, Invis would tell you the wrap needs to go beneath the stickers so in you case you would have to remove factory ones (which would probably rip when you did it, so you'd have to source and buy replacement ones). I can see their reasoning in that you wouldn't get any air pockets around the stickers. However, I've done it both ways and each has pros and cons i my opinion. By putting the wrap over the existing stickers you are also protecting them, but equally this method prevents you from changing the stickers to change the "look" of your bike at a later date. I think the most important thing when you apply the wrap over the stickers is to take your time and really work hard with the squeegee around the edges os the stickers to reduce the air gap you end up with. When I've done it, you can tell there is a very small pocket in these areas when you over analyse it when you're first applying the wrap, but it really is tiny and once you walk away and stop obsessing you'll never notice them again. Just spend time with that squeegee and really work hard with the edge of it to make the air gap as small as possible. After saying all that, it is an easier application of the wrap without the stickers, but then that adds the task of adding stickers back on. So, after going round and round in circles, my advice to you is to do what is best for you, I wouldn't let any tiny air pockets prevent you from applying the wrap over the stickers personally. How likely are you to want to change the stickers for a different colour / style in the future?
@@scottgoodski Hey thanks for that Tutorial like answer :D Im not really sure as there are no 38 decaks to buy right now,. And as the Invis is only 20 dollar or so, i think i just wrap it over the stickers and later if i found stickers which i wanna replace them with i just do the whole work again this time under the decals. Thank you very much !!
In that case, I'd definitely wrap over them now. If you want to replace them at a later date you can always peel the whole lot off and start again like you say. Go for it, just take a bit of time round the sticker edges, you'll have a great result I'm sure.

Hi Ian. There's two reasons I did it this way, the first is that the protection wrap material I used, Invis, actually advise to put it under the stickers to get better contact to the frame/fork thus eliminating the chance of air gaps at the junction where the protection meets the sticker (although I have in the past put it over the stickers on previous bikes, mainly because I couldn't be bothered and didn't want to change the stickers for aesthetic reasons) and the second and main reason I put the stickers over the top is that I wanted the ability to change the stickers again in the future thus allowing me to change the look of the bike/ brightening it up later on down the line. But basically, I've done it both ways and it works either way, the benefit of putting it over the stickers is that it protects the stickers like you say, but the benefit of putting the protection beneath the stickers is it allows you to change the stickers/look of your bike at a later date if you decide you fancy a change. Hope that helps 😁
@@scottgoodski I've just ordered a replacement Invisifame down tube section for my Santa Cruz, wanting to put the new Santa Cruz decals on first so the invis goes over the top. As you say above, Invis do recommend the other way, how did you find the Invis sticking around the decals, did/have you got many air bubbles? Paul
@@paul23c609I found you get a tiny (and I mean tiny) line of air immediately around the sticker/decal, but no bubbles as such and it can't be seen when you're finished. I think this happens because the invis is quite thick (hence the protection it offers) and so it can't be made to fold/conform directly around the edge of the sticker. Just work hard with your squeegee around the edge of the stickers when you apply the invis. It's easier than I made it sound 😂 and looks fine when done. Hope that helps 😁
@@scottgoodski Nice one Scott, thanks for taking the time to reply. As I wash down the bike quite often I've found the Santa Cruz downtube stickers (as they are pointy corners) have begun to lift, so having fresh Stickers and a new section of Invis will look and feel super smooth, so, happy washing and scrubbing. I was alittle worried when Invis said to me that 'normally the stickers go on top' 😕. Right, enough waffle from me, will take my time when the kit arrives and taking your advice will work hard to get all the water removed around the stickers. Thanks again, Paul 👍🚴🍻
@@scottgoodski could you not just put protection over the decals (protecting them too) & if you wanted to change the colour of the decals later just add them over the top of all of it. That way the original fork & decals are protected.

I did actually try that first (but didn't film), but because the new decals were a slightly different size to the originals, when I put one side on the decal looked like it had slipped down the fork and was too low and so the faffing began 😂😂😂
Great video! I was about to go search forums for answers to my questions but I found them all here!! Wahoo! I have decals for frame and fork plus ride wrap so I was trying to figure out in which order to do. Only question, I see you say the benefit of decals over protection is the ability to change decals later. Wont the protection get damaged when removing said decals? Thanks and great vid
I've never actually tried taking the decals off the wrap once it's fully stuck, I only meant that you've got more chance of swapping decals later putting them on top of the wrap as opposed to below. Therefore can't say with 100% confidence, but 🤔 when I took the original decals off the fork they came off really easily. So. in my opinion, and it is just my best guess, I think if the replacement decals have the same or similar adhesive as the originals I really don't think it would pull up or damage the frame wrap at all. But as I said, it's only a guess. If anyone tries it, maybe they'd be kind enough to leave a comment here relating their experiences.
