That place really is dangerous when the weather turns, I was camping up there during quite a fierce storm so the tin shelter at Larachantivore really was a great help as in the morning my tent which I left pitched to collect a few days later was completely submerged. I walked back along the side of loch na sealga and the rivers which were just streams before were white rapids up to my waist, the bridge on the track at the head of loch na sealga was submerged under the river by about 2 feet. I’m glad you made it out ok. I don’t go up there when there is forecast rain anymore.
Hi Daniel, thanks for your comment. I completely agree with everything you said, it's a very beautiful place, but definitely dangerous in the wrong conditions. People should plan plan and plan some more before they enter
Hey great video can you send me the link for where you got them from please 😊
Hi Sean, I used Richard Scott Design richardscottdesign.com/ Hope that helps 😁
@@scottgoodski can find them on his website mate
@@seanhammond4527 It's a good few years since I applied the decals, maybe he's discontinued them? I do vaguely remember reading something about Fox clamping down on copyright, maybe that's it? Either try messaging Richard Scott direct or try a google search. I just tried and found a few others that do them Silk Graphics & Ride Decals, were the first two sites to pop up. Failing that Silverfish are UK fox suspension importers so they sell the official OEM ones. Cheers 😎😎
Why did you put the sticks over the protected film instead of under it ? Just wondering… shouldn’t the protected film have gone over the sticks ??
What you're saying makes perfect sense. However, I chose to put them on top of the invis vinyl because I wasn't sure I liked the colour of the "Fox" logo and I thought I might change them in the future for a different colour scheme. That's it really, nothing more than the ability to change colour scheme more easily, that's all. As it is, 3 years later and over 3.5 thousand miles on the bike and I haven't changed them and they look just as good as they did when first fitted. Hope that helps 😁😁
@@scottgoodski cool, thanks for the reply I was just wondering because I just purchased new decals & also purchased ride wrap so wasn’t sure how to do it until I just seen your video…. Btw Great video

Thank you very much for using my products Scott. Thank you🙏 A great video and very helpful for other riders. Great stuff Scott.
I should be thanking you. Decals are still on the forks and still looking good, so thanks again 🤘🤘

In hindsight don’t you wish you had taped off the locations of the previous edges of the previous decals for reference instead of faffing?
I did actually try that first (but didn't film), but because the new decals were a slightly different size to the originals, when I put one side on the decal looked like it had slipped down the fork and was too low and so the faffing began 😂😂😂

Scott - got the link to your vid. from McT Rider. Was it October time that you did this ride? Wondering why the watermark was so high?
Hi Stephen, it was early September, think it was actually first week in September if I remember correctly. Hope that helps. Are you planning a similar trip?
@@scottgoodski Hi Scott. Yes, same route - you've got me thinking about the time of year though Perhaps a good dry spell would make sense
@@stevia13 I think we were just unlucky that particular week. I tend to do a long ride/adventure the same time every year and that week "usually" comes up trumps 🌞 Just not that year unfortunately. If you have the luxury to wait for a dry spell then that would be best. Amazing how quick the water runs off those hills 😱
My back yard, love being able to ride here from my house. Are you local too then?
Not local no, I'm from Nottingham, but been a fair few times and loved the area. Did one of the PMBA enduro from there and Havok bike park a few years ago which was great fun. Had a couple of great curries on the way home before now as well at the Ashoka in Rawtenstall if you know it?
Dangerous there now guys turn up in cars and rob your bike
@@1spiders1 When I've been, I parked in the carpark by the council building that you pass just as you leave the main road. Not sure you're stickly allowed to do that, but I felt safer in there rather than the road that leads to the quarry.
Nicely done!
Thanks!
Scott, an excellent video. The route is a pretty tough on a dry day and in those conditions horrendous. The crossing at Shenevall is notoriously fickle to predict. My folks live on the River Ewe in Poolewe and heavy rain does not always cause an increase in the height of the river, sometimes it takes days to see an increase. I think if the weather has been dry the peat can absorb a huge amount of water with no notable increase in the burns or rivers. Once passed saturation point the the water in the hills is released very fast into the burns thus swelling the rivers exponentially in short period of time. A good day and a great outcome that everyone can come off the hills safely regardless of the circumstances. As you highlight, we are so fortunate to have non profit rescue services who provide such a professional service in times of need. All the best and a great video
Thank you for your kind words. It sounds like I could have done with your local knowledge before the ride. It was a true adventure I'll never forget, that's for sure 😁
Getting to Shenevall in those conditions was an adventure enough mate. You should return sometime when the weather is better. Found it pretty hard going 20 years ago when the paths were not done up as they are now. There is a lot of history in those hills, the 'causeway' has quite a story to it.
@@-ewen Wow, don't suppose you have any photos from 20 years ago?
I got mine in the mail, all damaged, schrunken and the edges were standing up. Not worth the money i paid for them.
That's such a shame and so disappointing once you've made your mind up to do the job. Who did you buy from? Who was manufacturer? Name and shame please. Hope you get something sorted and it looks cool in the end 😁
Ridedecals.uk desided to not send m back, cut the edges of and it looks ok now but it's not ok for this company to send me damaged stuff and they must have seen it.

Glad it helped 😁 Please consider subscribing, I've taken to begging people now 😂😂😂
There is no need to feel guilt for the trip. You all had done everything right and to the best of your experiences. You don't have control over Mother Nature or "stuff out of your control". And this really did fall into Mother Nature's control... The ones that should feel guilty are the people that aren't prepared for a journey like yours, we've all heard about "those" kind of folks. A lot of hikers, bikers, etc. don't plan for those "what if" situations. Personally, if I were to go on a trip like that, I would be packing everything including the kitchen sink. Glad to see that it turned out well.
Hi Larry, thank you for your comment, it's good to know people understand
This is a great example of preparation. As tutors in leadership and preparing guides for these sorts of challenges, it's great to see such a high level of preparedness. We all can be guilty of making marginal calls, even with the most pragmatic intentions, but when they don't work out it's the prep that saves you. I've seen a few folk online calling you out for getting into that situation, but I'm of the opposite opinion. We've all been there. Kudos to you for exposing yourselves and your experience to everyone and being so reflective about the whole ordeal. I'm going to show this video to our learners as an example of a job well done.
Thank you so much, such very kind words 😁
Got to the Vid via mctrail rider, glad you all got out safe and sound 👍 I got scared on a local trail once when the light dropped and everything looked so much different 😱 but I was only ever a maximum of about two miles from a main road in any direction 😄 happy riding 👍
We've all been there and done that. I jump out of my skin at a plastic bag on night rides sometimes, think it's a ghost chasing me 😂😂😂
@@scottgoodski 😄😄 made my day
Great video, you planned as much as possible. And liked he statement should always be questioning and waying up decisions on bike mountain rides like this as to not charge into danger. You did all possible in the above and the Scottish weather just didn't play ball. And a great wee video to appreciate the amazing job the rescue teams do.
It's one of those things that you think will never happen to you, but when it does you're damn glad we have such a service in the UK and for free too, incredible. Thanks again David
This is an old video but looks like you mastered those jumps five years ago. I hope you have had time to progress your skills 👍🏼
Thanks for the compliment, but never really progressed much since then. Getting older and had a big fracture (not dirt jumping) about 4 years ago, so mentally it's hard to come back from that. But after saying that, I do still enjoy the little jumps 😲 We can but dream 🤠🤡🤠🤡😂😂😂😂
Great video! I was about to go search forums for answers to my questions but I found them all here!! Wahoo! I have decals for frame and fork plus ride wrap so I was trying to figure out in which order to do. Only question, I see you say the benefit of decals over protection is the ability to change decals later. Wont the protection get damaged when removing said decals? Thanks and great vid
I've never actually tried taking the decals off the wrap once it's fully stuck, I only meant that you've got more chance of swapping decals later putting them on top of the wrap as opposed to below. Therefore can't say with 100% confidence, but 🤔 when I took the original decals off the fork they came off really easily. So. in my opinion, and it is just my best guess, I think if the replacement decals have the same or similar adhesive as the originals I really don't think it would pull up or damage the frame wrap at all. But as I said, it's only a guess. If anyone tries it, maybe they'd be kind enough to leave a comment here relating their experiences. Hope that helps 🤷🏼♂️ Thanks for your comment, please subscribe, sorry blatant begging for help to get to 1000 subscribers 😁
Buenos días. Saludos desde Colombia. Quisiera saber si tienen los moldes de la specialized enduro comp 29. 2019. Gracias
Lamentablemente no soy el fabricante. Pruébelos directamente en www.invis.co.uk/
Can I ask you something what if you remove the vinyl is it harmful to the bike paint?it will strip off ?if you you manage to remove the vinyl?
I've never tried removing a whole vinyl kit, but I have removed small pieces and it had no effect on the paintwork at all. The manufacturers recommend using some heat from a hairdryer when removing the vinyl, but obviously be careful how much heat you apply, maybe just warm up slightly and try it, you can always warm a bit more if it won't come off. Also, I'd say keep the heat/hairdryer moving, don't just hold it in one place, you don't want to risk damaging your frame. You could ask for more advice from the seller, I'm just a bloke who gave it a go, I'm NOT an expert. Let me know how you get on and any tips you learn from trying 😁
Hi mate, did you use the autoglym on your carbon frame before applying the invis too? Thanks
Yes I did. It cleaned it up nicely and didn't have any effect on the carbon or paintwork. Hope that helps 😁
@@scottgoodski Nice, cheers mate!
Isopropanol alcohol, anything above 90% will do the job as it’s cheap/safe and comes in a spray. It’s what the pros use after working on bikes.

Scott Goodwin Sure bro! It’s the least I can do,man!!!
Thanks for that nice video. Thumps up! Allthough i have a question. I ordered a brand new pair of Fox 38s and i also ordered a kit of Invis foil. Can i install the foil over the factory stickers or should i remove them before? Does it look good or does much air get stuck inbetween the sticker and frame. Thanks.
Thank you for your nice comment. Now, Invis would tell you the wrap needs to go beneath the stickers so in you case you would have to remove factory ones (which would probably rip when you did it, so you'd have to source and buy replacement ones). I can see their reasoning in that you wouldn't get any air pockets around the stickers. However, I've done it both ways and each has pros and cons i my opinion. By putting the wrap over the existing stickers you are also protecting them, but equally this method prevents you from changing the stickers to change the "look" of your bike at a later date. I think the most important thing when you apply the wrap over the stickers is to take your time and really work hard with the squeegee around the edges os the stickers to reduce the air gap you end up with. When I've done it, you can tell there is a very small pocket in these areas when you over analyse it when you're first applying the wrap, but it really is tiny and once you walk away and stop obsessing you'll never notice them again. Just spend time with that squeegee and really work hard with the edge of it to make the air gap as small as possible. After saying all that, it is an easier application of the wrap without the stickers, but then that adds the task of adding stickers back on. So, after going round and round in circles, my advice to you is to do what is best for you, I wouldn't let any tiny air pockets prevent you from applying the wrap over the stickers personally. How likely are you to want to change the stickers for a different colour / style in the future?
@@scottgoodski Hey thanks for that Tutorial like answer :D Im not really sure as there are no 38 decaks to buy right now,. And as the Invis is only 20 dollar or so, i think i just wrap it over the stickers and later if i found stickers which i wanna replace them with i just do the whole work again this time under the decals. Thank you very much !!
In that case, I'd definitely wrap over them now. If you want to replace them at a later date you can always peel the whole lot off and start again like you say. Go for it, just take a bit of time round the sticker edges, you'll have a great result I'm sure.
How many millimeters are the stickers?
The best place to look for exact dimensions is the manufacturer's website. Please be aware I do not make the vinyl. Thank you for your comment. www.invis.co.uk/?gclid=CjwKCAjwrvv3BRAJEiwAhwOdM-oLzqNu_m6X2bNTJhWOtIvBFiTMVhgWY3T_gDgTFpxSKItl3s89zBoCTVcQAvD_BwE

Great video thank you!!
Glad you liked it!
What thickness of vinyl? I used an 8mil 3m scotchgard and when trying to squeegee the water and air out it just stretches the vinyl defeating the purpose. So I just did it without water and stretched it to lay flat . Looks fine but not perfect . Not as easy as you do it lol
I'm not actually linked in any way with Invisframe (the protection kit I used) so don't know details like that, sorry. However, if you want to do it cheaper without a kit, they do sell the individual sheets of vinyl "uncut" in both gloss and matte. Could be worth trying that. For me though, although the kits are more expensive the ease of application and the end results are worth the extra paid for the pre cut kits. www.invis.co.uk/blank-sheet.html

Sorry, not had any experience of that myself. Hopefully someone else who knows more about it will reply to this comment. Be good to see the results though, maybe stick a photo below when you're done. Good luck 😁
will them decals be ok to put on a rockshock recon fork mine got a 15mm bolt though
Absolutely. Have a look online for decals that match your fork and colours you want, then go for it.
@@scottgoodski ok wii do
I ordered from a company called Richard Scott design, but there's loads of other places that do the same kind of thing, Silk Graphics, Dedecals, Invis, SpiralGFX, Graphicsdirect.....................literally loads of places when you start looking so there's loads of choice too. Let me know how you get on and it would be good to hear what the quality is like of the ones you finally decide on. Cheers mate 👍🏼
How much it cost ?
I bought mine from this website. Go on there and check the price for your make and model of bike www.invis.co.uk/?gclid=Cj0KCQjwncT1BRDhARIsAOQF9LkabJJTDK4K4paGorXRTji0WEEbItoM3oeElWSe0l-b1GhqeD8MnDYaAtGiEALw_wcB
Isn't the protection meant to go on top of the stickers? That way you protect the stickers as well as your fork?
Hi Ian. There's two reasons I did it this way, the first is that the protection wrap material I used, Invis, actually advise to put it under the stickers to get better contact to the frame/fork thus eliminating the chance of air gaps at the junction where the protection meets the sticker (although I have in the past put it over the stickers on previous bikes, mainly because I couldn't be bothered and didn't want to change the stickers for aesthetic reasons) and the second and main reason I put the stickers over the top is that I wanted the ability to change the stickers again in the future thus allowing me to change the look of the bike/ brightening it up later on down the line. But basically, I've done it both ways and it works either way, the benefit of putting it over the stickers is that it protects the stickers like you say, but the benefit of putting the protection beneath the stickers is it allows you to change the stickers/look of your bike at a later date if you decide you fancy a change. Hope that helps 😁
@@scottgoodski I've just ordered a replacement Invisifame down tube section for my Santa Cruz, wanting to put the new Santa Cruz decals on first so the invis goes over the top. As you say above, Invis do recommend the other way, how did you find the Invis sticking around the decals, did/have you got many air bubbles? Paul
@@paul23c609I found you get a tiny (and I mean tiny) line of air immediately around the sticker/decal, but no bubbles as such and it can't be seen when you're finished. I think this happens because the invis is quite thick (hence the protection it offers) and so it can't be made to fold/conform directly around the edge of the sticker. Just work hard with your squeegee around the edge of the stickers when you apply the invis. It's easier than I made it sound 😂 and looks fine when done. Hope that helps 😁
@@scottgoodski Nice one Scott, thanks for taking the time to reply. As I wash down the bike quite often I've found the Santa Cruz downtube stickers (as they are pointy corners) have begun to lift, so having fresh Stickers and a new section of Invis will look and feel super smooth, so, happy washing and scrubbing. I was alittle worried when Invis said to me that 'normally the stickers go on top' 😕. Right, enough waffle from me, will take my time when the kit arrives and taking your advice will work hard to get all the water removed around the stickers. Thanks again, Paul 👍🚴🍻
@@scottgoodski could you not just put protection over the decals (protecting them too) & if you wanted to change the colour of the decals later just add them over the top of all of it. That way the original fork & decals are protected.
Hi where do you usually wearing your watter bottle? I have similar frame, there is no space for cage. :-/
Hi Tomas, I don't carry a water bottle on this bike, I carry hydration bladder in my rucksack. I pretty much always carry a rucksack, so it seemed like a natural thing to do. I use the Osprey bags and hydration system.
@@scottgoodski Hi Scott, I solved problem with watter same like you. Regards!
As many have said, it looks easy when the vinyl is already cut hence the price of the kit.
