Their they are selling some old man's hopes and dreams it took him a life time to get. sold in a few hours like the Bible says your here and gone in a instant and in a few years later your name is never brought up again and forgotten through out time. @@lookingbehind6335 That is true but often there are lots of people out their who do feel it worth while and its a shame to allow these things to considerably degrade just for the sake of a cover or selling them promptly when you decide they are not worth repairing. If you are selling them then you must consider they are worth something or why didnt you take them to the scrap dealer.

I wish I could have been at that auction, although my wife would have shot me because at those prices I would have bought a ton of stuff. I couldn't believe that the old power hacksaw went for only $5! It's worth more than that as yard art! I love auctions like that, much to the chagrin of my wife. I would love to find another Rusnok mill table, I paid about $650 new for mine in 1979, I actually went to the Rusnok factory and met Mr. Rusnok then.

I'm not a big fan of the smaller Atlas lathes like the 618. I had a chance of buying one a while back that has all of the accessories you could get for it back then from Sears. It had been sitting up in a shed and the elements got to it similar to the condition yours is in. I passed on it for $300! I should have bought it, dad would have rolled over in his grave had I done so! As always thanks for sharing. What did the EMCO lathe sell for?

I would have taken any one of those lathes but I wouldn't have paid more than 200 for any one of them especially in the condition they are in but like you said a couple of those were words the price of admission blow drawer index drawers with all the stuff in the man that was pretty cool😊

Sober I wouldn't have gone any higher than $200 for that lathe. Maybe $250 if I was in a real good mood. I'd have to be blind drunk to go higher than that. That machinery at that auction was in a real state. The Emco mill for $20 was a deal.

I'm extremely interested in seeing what you do with the lathe and what it is capable of. I've had the Sears version if the same lathe for 30 years that I have a love/hate relationship with. I sometimes want to junk it and buy a new import, but I think the problem is my skill rather than the lathe. I do have a complete set of gears for it, but not much else in the way of accessories. I'll be eagerly wait for future videos, and to see what is in the cabinet!

It was 225 to me, and I had looked it over pretty close. I thought another 200 or less for a static phase converter. No tooling, but it had the three and four jaw chucks. I decided not today and let it go. Later I talked with the man that bought it. He told me they had one where he worked and wanted this one for his shop when he retires. So someone who really wanted it is going to get to enjoy it. Just the other part of the story.

Great auction video! I have an Atlas 618 I'm fixing up right now, need to make a new lead screw. I might have given $150 for that lathe without the cabinet, though the locked cabinet is intriguing. My preference there would've been the EMCO lathe/mill. Do you know what it sold for? The Morgan vise is really cool and I believe someone is still making Morgan bench vises here in the USA. Thanks Mr. Pete!!

Too bad all these tools have so much rust! Given my budget, and the amount of rust on the lathe, I would have only paid $100.00.
I have had good luck with Evapo-rust. Soak the smaller parts for a day or two. The larger areas you can lay several layers of paper towels on the rusty surface and soak the towels with Epapo-rust. It works like magic!
You might come out OK once you get the cabinet open!

I saw a lot of stuff I would have been interested in, but the rust would have really limited my bids. Really sad.
I can’t comment on what I would have given on the lathe, by itself maybe $200, but the gamble is in the contents of the cabinet. Wish you good luck on that. I’m sure by the time I’m commenting you already know what’s in it.

Wow! Love this video, wish similar auctions would occur near me. What treasures. I would have kept the cardex cabinet you left behind for storing small items. Don't drill open the cabinet, practice your lock-picking skills! I didn't find the video long enough, I kept pausing it to better survey the offerings. Wish I could have seen and heard all the lot going prices - give me a better idea of the worth of used equipment. I have been after a lathe for years now, but offerings near me are non-existent - I'll probably end up purchasing one of those 8" Chinese mini-lathes. Oh well!

Another auction which always brings high hopes for good cheap stuff. Not so much this time. Can’t stand to see good tools left out in the rain to rust like that. My daddy would have given me a good whupping if I’d done that. He especially valued his Henry Disston hand saw. $250.00 tops for that Atlas lathe. Lookin forward to watching you open that big box. I hope it doesn’t contain fifty brake rotors.

I noticed the Compound Slide is a little above center or is it just the video? Hate you to not have noticed that.
My old lathe needs a compound slide found and then fitted but having no luck as the cross slide is 2-1/2" above the ways of the lathe which means I have to condense it down to 2" including the tool post to the actual Center Height of the Lathe Turning center height. At the moment I have the same type of Tool holder on the lathe as the Atlas and will get rid of it at the first chance.
We lack Auctions like the one you attended, as in Australia they end up in Second-hand equipment places but only those that nobody wants and end up on marketplaces and need a hell of a lot of work. Usually, the gear trains are very badly damaged or just total junk as you can imagine.
The lathe I have was total junk and although done some fixings, it is still a pile of Junk. However, I did buy this lathe to do light work only but struggled to even achieve that at the moment.

Thanks for taking us along. Seeing all of that neglected machinery was heartbreaking, though. I would have spent up to 350 for the lathe But only due to my lack of confidence in evaluating a neglected machine and my ability to resurrect it. With a 400 pound cabinet of unknown booty, i think your bid was actually pretty fair.
