Thanks Paige. It's such a great genre. If you want to get into this genre I can recommend to play the new Prince of Persia, one of the two Ori games, Castlevania Symphony of the Night, Super Metroid or Metroid Prime first. These are great gateway MVs.
Bro, having a Zelda-themed Metroidvania would be amazing! This is such a cool video, would love to see most of these franchises give the genre a crack!
My wish would be a Metroidvania style God of War, think about it you already get power ups and items, new abilities, new weapons and so on while you progress the story. We could also finally see a comeback of the hack and slash gameplay I miss from the old God of War games, the new games are too simplified too Mainstream for my taste. The only thing you would change is the camera perspective from a 3D bird camera or a over the shoulder camera to a side scrolling one. It would also cost Sony and Santa Monica much less money to develop such a God of War spin off and it would bring back the old fans of this genre ME, who denies the existence of these new titles and just wants a fast past game with amazing combo moves where you can press hundreds of buttons and each different button combo gives you a different move the style Devil May Cry and Bayonetta also use, I want a comeback of hack and slash God of War even if it is a cheaper 2D Metroidvania style of game!
It's slightly odd that there haven't been more significant attempts by the big publishers to cash in on the popularity of the genre. Especially now given the seemingly successful release of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown by Ubi, you'd think Star Wars, Monster Hunter, or something from FromSoft would all generate some buzz and reach a pretty wide audience.
I can definitely see your point on DMC and DOOM. Zelda, I dont really have an opinion. Mario is a genius idea , but...Oddworld, Rayman, and Crash are hard enough. But Final Fantasy! No! Square are messing it up enough as it is 😂😂
Hahaha, naah man, SE is killing it the last couple of years 🤣 No but seriuosly, SE's has been hit or miss for a while now. If they announced a FF MV I would be equally excited and worried. 😅
What game would you want to see as Metroidvania spin-off?
Great list - I still need to get into this genre...haha, I tried with Shantae but it just didn't do it for me.

Thanks dude!

Thanks mate. Yeah this would be a dream come true. Fingers crossed - we never know what surprise Nintendo comes up with.

Yo fantastic idea. I can picture that being a brilliant Metroidvania. Would be sick to play this.
