When I was dating almost 50 years ago, I gave up. The girls were either too dumb to hold up a conversation or blatant gold diggers. I found my other half in a parking lot when she needed help. The funny thing was that she had given up on men too. We had long conversations for a couple of weeks before we became romantic. The conversations continued for 39 years until she died from a tick bite. Now, I'm relaxed but, fading. Today's guys have it much harder. Im on a dating website now and many women in their profile list "a coffee date" as they're preferred first date. Not all of them, but I'd say around 50% of them.
Maybe its a maturity thing? Im looking at the ladies in the 40 to 55 age range. I'm 65.

Dating/relationship coaches have no vested interest in actually helping their "clients". If their "client" does find a partner they won't continue WASTING money on the worst advice possible, designed for nothing more than to make you fail. A business that drives it's customers away, won't be a business for long, so they don't actually want to help anyone.

I love the fact that women clutch their pearls at the idea of a man basically seeing if a woman is worth his time on a coffee date, when women literally use EVERY date, every action, every text as a way of assessing his worth. And it's not his worth as a person, but how close he is the "sixs" that women think they are owed.

As a man, I do not want a first date at night because I am afraid of being accused of anything inappropriate. A coffee date seems more safe for the man.
If these so called dating coaches are such experts, why are they all single? Not even a boyfriend? Yeah, I can claim to be a mechanic but never owned or worked on a car too right. As if. I stopped dating 8 years ago, but I’ve always thought that a walk or a coffee were perfect for a first date. I don’t owe anything to a perfect stranger! Beside, imagine if you discover your incompatibility with her during the meal, how awkward is that.
Years ago, I had a conversation with a girl from work about dating, she told me that she will give a full 100% but wants the man she's dating he has to give 1,000%.
then she'll pull back and decide if he gave too much or not enough.
so I replied, "Isn't that a 'Heads I win--Tails you lose' game?"
the look blank look she gave was kinda creepy but she was like, "How do I know if he's interested in me if he don't do the bare minimum, besides, aren't I worth it at the end of the day?"
