Barney Springboro accidentally gains telekinetic powers in a failed lab experiment. When his best friend learns about this, he gets motivated to use his powers for his own good. But when Barney falls in love with the class president, Bernadette, he realizes that he might've abused his powers.

Just learned about this movie. As a side note, it would be impossible to create this film today, for there were at least three scenes that would easily put some of the characters in prison.

It's funny how simple the plot was and they really make the most of it. Unlike today's films which are overly preachy and miss the simple concept of a great story. Forced diversity and no good character arcs.
@@bartsullivan4866 This is a film that stayed true to the audience it was trying to reach and they were successful. Funny, whimsical, and just a pinch of sci-fi nonsense that didn't try to be anything but farcical.
I don't mind the diversity and preachy things in films, but generally, I like that those things are side shows. Examples would be Animal House, Old School, and PCU.

I know I would have.I never got to see girls breast, had no girlfriends and was too scared to ask a girl to show me so this ability would have given me this option. Of course over time I likely wouldn't do it as much and only do it to a girl if she acts like she's too good to date me or if I'm just very angry at her.

@@daedae1522 Heather Thomas, who played Jane, wasn't comfortable about appearing in the nude, so without her permission, the film makers hired a body double for scenes where Jane was supposed to be naked.

Caught this one on cable a very long time ago. The actress playing Barney's girlfriend, Bernadette (Felice Schachter), kinda reminds me of a young Connie Sellecca.

Love how Cha Chi became a scientist, then basically got the lead to a whole series Charles in Charge (which was pretty good). And oh, that getting high fantasy scene!

I felt bad for the blond girl. She was sexually assaulted when her blouse was unbuttoned and then at the prom when all her clothes was stripped off. This is a total abuse of power to do something like this.

I miss movies like these, this is fun to watch.
Apparently, Heather Thomas, who played Jane the Cheerleader, was apprehensive about filming her nude scenes, so they used a body double, and pasted her head on a picture. Thomas apparently filed a complaint with the Screen Actors Guild.
She must have received the script before she was casted? What people will do for 15 minutes of fame and then object to it later on. SMH

Anybody remember these two actors from the series “Charles in Charge”?

Let me tell yall a story: Once a man spent a whole week, going to a park and creepily stalking another man and his remote plane. This man which we will call "unidentified man" is a quite a weird man, who has nothing better to do. So each day he would bring a remote controller, and adjust the frequencies on the controller, everytime he went to the park. Now with some sheer effort and will, he finally managed to take control of the plane, which at first, he simply made the plane turn a bit to the left, to make sure it went unnoticed. And it worked, and it almost looked like the wind simply nudged it.
And thus, the last day of the week, on the sunday morning, I was once again at the park, flying my new remote plane and chasing another man with it, who was screaming something about his remote plane going rogue. The park is sure filled with weirdos.

Except Willie Ames regrets doing this type of movie now ever since he became a fundamentalist Christian. His children's series Bibleman is very....different (about an evangelical super hero that usually fights evil by quoting scripture.)

But the movie' Zapped' will live on, as its part 2,'Zapped 2', both are 80's low-budget, fan-favorites.
Low-budget compare to the TROMA films of this era, more fan-favorites from New Jersey and the 1980's.

By far, the best thing about this movie was the soundtrack. The songs written and performed by David Pomeranz were some of the best to come out of the 80s.

Back when this was first released, Willie Ames was probably more known for his role on the tv series, Eight is Enough.

They stole this entire idea from a twilight zone episode. The one where he uses telekinesis to win in the casino then at the end he faked not having his powers anymore so his friend wouldn't ask him to go back to gambling and keep winning.
