Cannot forget to add that Mark Knopfler''s languid, moody soundtrack so effortlessly carries the film. It is an inseparable part of the experience.

The saddest moment is at the end--when Mac gets back to his big-city condo and starts taking the seashells from his coat pocket. Mac seems sort of Boon from _Animal House_ ... but now pushing 40 and youth spirits long forgotten.

I have to watch this masterpiece at least once a year - probably seen it about 30 times. The dialogue and soundtrack are etched in my mind.

And the ending track...Going Home is now the unofficial Scots National Anthem--played over and over at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo!!!

Don’t forget Gordon is portrayed by Denis Lawson, aka Wedge Antilles from Star Wars.

To this day I cannot bring myself to watch this film. And that's because one Sunday afternoon, years ago, it had just started on our television. On that day I had THE WORST migraine I've ever had. Had to go to hospital with it. Any time I see this movie mentioned or anything related to it, I vividly remember that damn migraine...

Make yourself some nice popcorn, sit back and enjoy the movie they don't make anymore 😌...

Great movie. Another film I like, not as good as Local Hero but still very good is “The Field.”

A much different type of film. Certainly not a comedy in any way. I think they are equally good, but one certainly has different feeling at the end of "The Field" than at the end of "Local Hero".

Let's assume you're not an AI review, which given the date of your inception seems unlikely, then I'm going to say what I say on so many of these things
    STOP!!!!!!!!
    PAUSE!!!!
    BREATHE!!!
DON'T TALK ten to the dozen!!!
Allow the viewer/listener time to absorb what you've said.
I assume that you worked out your narrative and that it took you more than a few mins to do so - then WHY would you squander you efforts by racing through your script?????
    SLOW DOWN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
[OK so i just watched a more recent one of your videos, (BTW I like them, my comments come out of a position of admiration not dislike) and your pacing is better but you definitley still need to pause at the end of sentences. I get the self imposed "time limit" thing but that really means losing a section rather than creating a rushing feel.]
