A tip for getting the string through, feed a wire through the opposite direction, wrap it around the string and pull it through.

They 'should' have stronger cords, but grab the bottom
of my blinds and lift gently while pulling the cord.
This moment of genius reduces the stress on the cord
and allowed OUR blind strings to last over 20 without breaking.
I smack my wife every time she grabs that cords and jerks
it like a lawn mower starter rope. SMACK! POW! BANG!

Thanks for the video.. I hate blinds, but renters insist on providing them in rentals- while just tried to open one in my room that I've never touched before because it's hotter than hot, and half of the strings came crashing out!
Even worse the window is painted shut! So if I didn't try to open it then it wouldn't of been in double vain! 😅
Mine doesn't appear to be strung the same as yours, but still interesting...

Yeah these blinds are heavy.. it helps to lift up on the bottom while pulling the cord

IMPORTANT: Use polyester cord which is much more durable and longer-lasting than cheap cotton cord which will eventually fray and even break.
When repairing the older type blinds than the ones shown here on TH-cam, you will have to carefully note how the worn out cord that you are replacing attaches to the mechanism to that you can reconnect the new cord correctly. Take your time. Why spend money for a brand new blind?

you can get string like this from a hardware store or like a walmart.. craft type stuff... kite string would work well I think
