  • Historic racing cars and much more feature in this visit to a varied Testday at Oulton Park circuit - ranging from a thunderous Lola racing car to an eventually straight-piped early 1960s Lotus F1 car!
Expect a walk around the busy paddock of Oulton Park where a variety of racing cars both modern and classic could be spotted, with many BMWs old & new, Ginettas, Porsche Caymans and F1000 cars featuring.
After a quick look at the paddock I wandered over to the fantastic vantage point of Lodge corner which is the last corner of a lap of the Cheshire circuit where tyres are overheating and grip is low - which you can certainly see in the footage!
Luckily, I also was lucky to get a seat in one of the many Formula 1000 cars attending this particular race car testing session, with drivers practising for the next day's race.
If you enjoyed this then please take a look at the channel homepage for past videos of motorsport action from Oulton Park circuit, featuring both classic race cars and modern race cars on the limit and beyond at the undulating Cheshire circuit, filmed from a range of fantastic vantage points - and subscribe so ensure you don't miss out on any future content.
Which car would you have taken for a lap - let me know in the comments below!
    Thanks for watching!

Gear change in the Healey 100 you were looking at is correct for a right hand drive car, the only difference with the left-hand drive is it’s slightly shorter. The gearbox was originally for a column shift car so that’s how they had to do it. Cheers, Trevor.

Another wonderful video thankyou Harley. That F5000 is a Lola T330 / T332 variant (not sure which). When I was your age these were very popular cars in Australia. They were so LOUD!!!’nnn you can imagine the noise when 20 of these lined up on a grid ready to race! They would make the earth vibrate!
Wonderful old memories you have brought back for me, thanks once again.

Yep, I think the Lola in this video was probably silenced a bit more than back in the day to comply with the sound regulations of the circuit - which contrasts how the Lotus did several laps with its silencer removed!

@@CarTractionvids makes a difference, doesn’t it! This was the sound of motor racing when I was your age…. Which may account for why I wear hearing aids now!!!!

Harley's dad probably told him already that the Yamaha badge is three tuning forks, because of Yamaha making musical instruments (the motor bike bit being a kind of spin-off from the music company part). If you're lucky enough to have a Yamaha piano you can find the same logo on the frame.

Thanks for another great video! I had a job once that on occasion allowed me to be around a lot of race cars. I never even tried to get into one.😮

Excellent work, young man. Great coverage of behind the scenes in the pits. You look good in the cockpit, was the note on the panel to you? 🙂

Never knew much about F1000. One litre superbike engine. Way back when I was your age we had F5000 in Oz. It was all about Cubic inches in the '70s. MAPing engines i suppose was all about grinding a good cam and more CFMs in the carb. Will we be sitting around in the future discussing kilowatt hours, listening to almost silent cars with 10 thousand torques? I hope not.

I remember seeing a couple of F5000 cars at Oulton Park a while ago, in fact the Lola in this video may be F5000 - they sound awesome!

I'm sorry Harley but I won't be viewing your channel anymore. Your father seemed to take offense about my saying you are photogenic . I was complimenting you that's all. All the best with your channel and in the future with what you do. From Carl in New Zealand.
