Of all time? Dammmnnn! I know that a lot of those who are onto this album are hip hop heads (like myself) but If you like this, please treat yourself to some funk! There’s a riot goin’ on, cosmic slop and maggot brain were the records I started with!
When you said we’ve arrived… yes 😭 That is EXACTLY what I feel the whole purpose of this song is musically. To almost lure you in with the long intro, suddenly chock and overwhelm you and eventually settle back down with the rollercoaster after effect vibe going in to the rest of the album. The album is truly a journey and this song just grabs attention and sets the tone that anything can happen from now on. Love it when people actually revel in that feeling like you did! Also really liked your interpretation of the meaning 🙏
It really did it’s inspiration “maggot brain” by funkadelic. That song draws you in with despair, and by the end it’s a mellowed out euphoria, returning to the lackadaisical 6 notes at the beginning, seemingly forgetting the chaos in the midsection. This song has a very similar structure; quite different sonically though
@@_milkysoup no problem man! I always loved this album without actually knowing where else to find that sound. When I got into crate digging I found out. Glad to help out bro 🔥!
Extreme respect to Glover for somehow making a funk song, (nearly 50 years after the genre’s prime) better than a fuck ton of funk songs. I loved your analysis at the end! I definitely hear you on that! The album cover (and the structure of me and your mama imo) is inspired by funkadelics album/song “Maggot Brain”.
The album is for his son telling him story's this is about him being with his son's mom
I'm so glad to see this. I really enjoy your channel and seeing you and your dad react to my favorite album of all time is wonderful
Nvm I thought it was a reaction to the whole album at first
