The thing is, every studio version of every singer you've ever heard is autotuned. When it's done right, you cant notice it. And no, you couldn't sound good with autotune, you have to be able to sing well for it to even be useful. The over-the-top, robotic sounding autotune is a stylistic choice. It's not supposed to trick you....
@@NidokingOtsutsuki what? That's not correct at all. First of all, if every studio song an "artist" has is autotuned, then i'm sorry, he/she is not a singer, because you need to be TUNED to sing. Second of all, autotune was invented in 1997, so i don't know why you say that EVERY studio song is autotuned. And third, current pop music is full of singers that can't sing, but with a little too much of autotune and vocal effects they sound okay (if you ask me they still sound awful, but people seem to like it).
did childish gambino just single handedly bring back funk? this man is very talented he can rap, sing, act play instruments, he's a comedian what can't be do?
well there's him, Bruno Mars, Kamasi Washington (and a ton more) but there needs to be more on the map. I miss soul/funk performances that makes you feel more human
I just love the fact that you can see how much he feels the music by his facial expressions and movements. Unfortunately too many other artist are too busy thinking about if they look good or cool to really feel the music physically
PumpkinsnBlackcats Just because Beyoncé puts really much choreo into her performances to make them entertaining, doesnt mean that she is not feeling her music or is less talented. In fact, she is one of the best vocalists out there and a really good dancer too. She creates a whole experience for the viewer with every show while serving insane vocals. Her work ethic is unbelievable thats why she is constantly improving her vocals, dancing, visuals, stages etc. She is a perfectionist and tries to make everything right. When she performs her slower and more sad songs you can really see another side of her , she DOES show emotion and really feels her music without following a strict choreo. She doesnt write all of her Songs herself, thats correct. Doesnt mean she cant relate to it and feel it tho. Both artists worked hard to be where there are right now so we should appreciate both approaches on performing music. What U Like more is of course subjective ^^

@@layne182 in the album version the formant is raised higher. so yeah it is technically "electronically manipulated", but the pitch and vocal control is all him.
Thats because it was. With the exception of the lyrics, this is pretty standard stuff. It's like how I Believe in a Thing Called Love, Woman, High Voltage, and Earfquake are, at heart, those same old songs, just with a layer of gloss that makes them current. This song, in particular, is 50% George Michael, and 50% Bobby Brown, musically, with a dash of 89-93's diva groups like En Vogue or SWV, and the solo artists from the men's groups, like Bobby Brown. (I know damn well that is over 100%, but this song has room for at least 101%)A kind of pre-New Jack Swing mixed with Gospel. If you wanted to, you could match every musical phrase directly to something in the past. Take the bass walk down back to the first note. That exact bass tone and walk down is in Everything She Wants, by Wham!(the name has the exclamation in it. I'm not even sort of excited) listen to the call/response part that goes "Somebody tell me (Won't You tell me ooh)

Alex he's a horrible rapper but great at pretty much everything else
The exact opposite of horrible, but okay.

This is my first time seeing him performing this particular song live and I'm blown away. My god. Raps like a monster, comedic genius and sings like no other actor rapper I've ever heard. Salute Donald Glover! Respect!

I'm stuck on this version.. He put more into it here than any of his other live or pre-recorded versions. Sounding so clear, no autotune here fo sho
No auto tune on the recording too
There’s no autotune on the recording just a filter on his voice, but I get what you mean
Agreed. I heard this one like a hundred times now.
@@Stoffendous 💯Love This Song.. It seems U know abt. this stuff Does Post Malone use auto tune ?? I love him nowadays n I am kinda old. He is Mesmerizing ! ☮
This can be the best live performance he has ever made he is literally living in the song
So many people saying "no autotune?", it's really a shame that a SINGER needs to impress by showing that he knows how to SING.
Thank you for saying that 🤘🏽😆
It’s probably more or so how high his voice goes when singing this that surprises people that he isn’t pitch shifting it
The thing is, every studio version of every singer you've ever heard is autotuned.
@@thetruestrepairman7423 The issue is, you clearly have no idea what Autotune is, which is understandable because the name is misleading.

I see what you mea its like people perform the songs with no life and don't even give credit. Kinda like the Ricegum "Ghost Writer" Controvercy.
It helps a lot with the fact that the guy is mega high all the time too.

I'm not even sort of excited) listen to the call/response part that goes
