    I own a 2022 Ridgeline Sport edition, and besides having to push the engine shut off button every time I start it, there is not one thing I can say I hate about it! Best truck I have ever owned so far. I also put a Diamondback HD bed cover on it too, that’s also been awesome.

      I did my homework before buying it, and I agree it's the best in the segment for sure. My biggest gripe is the interior rattles, but it seems like that is common in most new vehicles since 2021.

    I have a 23 RTL. The only complaint that you mentioned I've found to be real. The rattle noise! Luckily it's 3 screws to remove the doors and some RTV to rectify. Couldn't be happier.

      @@del7506 what is RTV?

    • @del7506
      @del7506 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @reid.bailey850 RTV is a silicone. You can purchase it at any hardware or automotive store. The rattle in the doors comes from the wires vibrating against the shell. Remove doors, locate all the spots where contact may happen and put a bit o RTV between the two. Let it cure for a couple hours and rattle free. This applies to all things rattling.

      The Ridgeline is a pickup for people who would normally drive a car.
      Except you don't get car fuel mileage.
      I was so unimpressed with the new Accord that I looked at a Ridgeline.
      It rides like a car. I don't care. It still has a 12vdc cigarette lighter socket in the dash. The Accord doesn't. Huh???????
      If you buy an Accord, if you want more power out of the dash, you have to go to a stereo or alarm shop and hope that they won't butcher your computers. Terrible decision by Honda.
      I like the Honda V6. I have a 2007 Accord with a 3.0 liter that still gets 30 mpg in mixed driving. It only has 170K miles on it but I hope it lasts till I die.
      The Ridgeline is begging for a hybrid option that will put up 30 mpg.
      I wish that they would get rid of the full size rear seat and offer a jump seat with a half door. This way they can extend the bed an extra foot or so.
      As far as the trunk, I'll keep it. Even with the shallow depth. Like I said I don't need the pickup options that often.
      For those that do, maybe Honda can just decide to make two pickup versions.

    Just got a 24. Mine rattles similarly in the front. Has paint defects. Rear door doesn’t line up to let tonneau cover seal. So. I think it’s probably quality stuff as you said. My 2019 Colorado was all plastic. Longevity worried me. The ridgeline powertrain is buttery smooth and refined so I think I can live with the other issues for what this gains.

    I own a 2021 Ridgeline and what you said about the tailgate weight limit is interesting to me and a concern. I have never thought about it before because I weigh 300lbs. and I sit on my tailgate with other people frequently and have not had a problem. You mentioned the room for the driver, and I have more room in the Ridgeline than I had in my Ford F350. I am 6'6" and when the seat is all of the way down and to the back, I can wear my cowboy hat without hitting the door post or the roof and sit low enough to see under the rearview mirror. I could not do that in the F350 that I used to own. I have never thought about stretching my legs out in any vehicle I have been in. I have not noticed any rattles in my Ridgeline which must be annoying. I love the quiet ride. For the last 20 or more years all of the previous trucks I owned were all diesels with large toolboxes directly behind the cab.

    • @reid.bailey850
      @reid.bailey850  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Someone else chimed in, in comments saying that there’s a difference between dynamic and static weight on the tailgate, but when Honda says 300lbs, they sure make it sound like that’s the working limit, and I would hate to damage that thing and repair. That’s interesting about the F350, I traded in a 2013 crew cab F250 and I had at what felt like inches more leg room (front to back) in that truck. I guess I just like the idea of being able to stretch my left leg out on long trips.

      @@Thrownblock honestly it was between the Ridgeline and the Tacoma as I don’t trust the other brands for various reasons. I went from a F150 to a F250, then down to the Honda and in reality I don’t know if I need a truck at all anymore. Definitely make sure to drive all of the ones you’re considering. The Honda rides significantly different/better than the others.

    The tailgate weight rating you quote is dynamic, not static. There is a significant difference. The tailgate can hold two people sitting on it with no problems. There are plenty of pictures on the Ridgeline Owners Club forum that illustrate what can be hauled with weight on the tailgate.

    • @reid.bailey850

      @@reid.bailey850 I do not remember it at the top of my head, but there are several references on the Ridgeline Owners Club about Honda positioning two First Generation Ridgelines back-to-back, tailgates down, and they lifted a third Ridgeline up and rested it on the two tailgates to demonstrate its "best in class" tailgate strength. I have not seen a photograph of such, but it was frequently referenced. You can search for it. Also, you'll notice that there are two depressions in the Second Generation RLs, such as yours, that are designed with backsides in mind. I have moved an AGA stove (cast iron), multiple refrigerators, and a gun safe with mine.

      @@reid.bailey850 I don't know if Honda has listed a number officially, but they do say you can load heavy items such as ATVs and motorcycles on the tailgate. Try searching other manufacturer's tailgate weight limits and see what you find. Also, while searching, you can read when Honda first announced the Ridgeline, they positioned back-to back two RLs with tailgates down, and then lifted a third and rested it onto the tailgates of the other two. I'm not aware of photos of this event, but it is documented. Lastly, you'll notice Honda formed two divots into the tailgate just for people's backsides, a supposed improvement from the first generation.

    I have not needed to do this, so this is just an idea....if the squeaks and rattle are hard to locate you could consider getting a Multi-channel Automotive Electronic Stethoscope. They are more often used to help pinpoint mechanical problems like determining if some noise is coming from the rightwheel bearing, rear differential, etc. Where one can drive around and switch between audio channels to see which is louder. If you can pinpoint the noise, that might help resolve it.

    • @reid.bailey850
      @reid.bailey850  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@davidw2014 interestingly enough, the first dealer that was addressing the rattles used the stethoscope on the exterior only to locate a rattle that wasn’t there, and after attempting the repair caused the non-rattling part to rattle. 😂 The second dealer was able to fix it what the first dealer did, but did not admit to being able to locate it, which was interesting to me. The rear door seal area is still rattling like crazy intermittently, no solution in sight at the moment.

    Watch the TH-cam video "2006 Honda Ridgeline introduction (pt 1 of 4)". Large project leader Gary Flint (the lead engineer of Honda Ridgeline) explains that the tailgate is "the strongest in the industry" and is designed to support the weight of Honda's largest ATV. He goes on to explain that the bed (and the tailgate) are designed to transport two mountain bikes, and shows promotional video of a Ridgeline hauling two bikes. Honda changed the design of the depressions in the tailgate specifically for people's backsides to make sitting on the tailgate more comfortable than what they had on the first generation. I can't address the rattles you are experiencing, but to say the Ridgeline is not a truck because two people can't sit on the tailgate is a complete mis-characterization of the abilities of the truck.
