    In part 2 you point out the very important fact that very few dogs are inherently aggressive - most aggression - and there is not one aggression but many different types of aggression- is the result of an emotional state, usually fear and then a a successful aggressive reaction in a certain situation which results in a learned aggressive behavior. If this gets reinforced over time you will most likely end up with a dog which aggression is difficult/impossible to fix. Most of the time it’s a maintenance/ training problem caused by people. I loved you saying that people must take responsibility for their dogs instead of dropping them at shelters. Proper socialization and training, primarily with positive reinforcement from early on is so important.

    mr Cabral I respect you as a trainer more than most other trainers I have followed. I have two. female Malinois. and 3 year old Dutch Shepherd. The Malinois I raised from puppies. The Dutch Shepherd was given to me. as a rescue. She is three years old and was chained in a backyard for most of her life. They didn't abuse her. He did things with her, but she was mostly left on her own.She was never trained and has been hard to train as yet,she now walks on a leash but never pays Attention to me as we walk doesnt She also doesn't respond to treats or toys. I need to introduce her to my two malinois but she is dog aggressive. She is as sweet as she can be with people. Loves everyone Children, people. but other dogs. She's very aggressive. Before I could introduce her to my two malinois. She had a litter of puppies unknowing. to me that she was pregnant. It's almost time. for the puppies to go to their new home. After that, I would like to somehow introduce her to my two female. Malinois. How do I do this without them all getting hurt?

    Can we all just appreciate Robert's dog's names.
    And in the name of the fixing dogs thing ive seen it 1st hand, a highly aggressive male get fixed and continue trying to attack people and animals (props to his owner adopting this dog as is and working with him daily keeping the dog and everyone safe in the process) and the other example is my intact male who gets along with every person and dog. And my dogs b*tch who is the exact same as mine.

    Thanks Robert! I have a 3 month old Rottweiler male puppy. I’m trying to teach him cooperative play, fetch and catch. After playing with him he was resting, I walked away and called him, he came I said “yes” and treated him. Then I said “down” he complied I treated and praised. I began walking and then he ran up from behind me launched himself to bite my calf. ?? This thing has happened before. My reading is that he resents me being the boss and has not yet bonded and so this is something like a toddlers tantrum? What do you think? I would really appreciate any input.

    Love the shirt you're wearing! Is it available in your shop?
    My Belgian Malinois mix will move into a close heel if she sees something she doesn't like the looks of. Surprised the heck out of me the first time she did it.
    We're now to the point with Molly that if she sees another dog from across the street there's absolutely no reaction. (I'm very proud of her).

    ? I can’t read my Mals body language when she’s being dog reactive. I can’t tell if it’s fear or she just wants to fight, because it’s fun. I recently had a good dog trainer, trained Mals in the Army. He came to mine and did a 2 hour assessment, both in the house and outside. He got to witness her reactivity. I asked him the same question, fear or not. He said she’s a typical Mal, a perfect combination of total fear and total courage. His belief was her desire to protect me over rode her fear. After seeing me grieve the loss of my mum she became super reactive. Does this sound right, both fear and aggression reactivity. She’s 5, had her since a pup.

      I don’t use harnesses in most situations. But I can’t imagine. A dog not liking a harness if it’s properly introduced.

    My GSD is very over protective of my husband., especially while at home. If my husband is outside and someone walks by he goes nuts inside. Same as if my GSD is outside he is very reactive and territorial of people and or people with dogs walk by. How can we help this?

    My neighbors, a young couple, adopted a pit bull who had been rescued from a dog fighting situation. He was huge and very aggressive. I was scared of him. One night, they were horseplaying, mock wrestling on the floor. The pit bull got overexcited and attacked the girl. The young man was able to get the pitbull off her and get her to the hospital. She almost lost her leg and was in a wheelchair for months. They did put the dog down immediately.

      @Gurminder_S ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So basically you’re saying the owner was stupid and instead of providing a calm environment they went on to wrestle the dog back into its fighting background.
      Just goes to show how idiotic some people can be.

    • @walkyourdog6584
      @walkyourdog6584 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Gurminder_S not idiotic. Just inexperienced. That dog never should have been adopted out, much less to inexperienced people who had no idea how to handle dog aggression.

    • @Gurminder_S
      @Gurminder_S ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@walkyourdog6584 if they didn’t know the dog had a fighting background then I’d say it’s an honest mistake. But if they knew then it’s their own fault. The dog is trained to fight, redirect that to something else..not encourage it to do the same again…

    • @walkyourdog6584
      @walkyourdog6584 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Gurminder_S obviously the were not aware of encouraging the dog to fight. The dog should not have been adopted out. The dog should have been put down by the folks who rescued it. That is the point I was trying to make. Not to judge the well meaning couple who adopted the dog and got hurt.

    • @Gurminder_S
      @Gurminder_S ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@walkyourdog6584 how did you come to find it was a rescued fighting dog? Surely if you know then they knew? If they knew then they should either a) not adopted it. b) not encouraged it to fight. It just comes across as common sense. Fair enough that it got euthanised for biting someone but the family should never have let it get to that point and the girl would never have ended up in hospital and the dog may have been managed better by someone who knew what they were doing.
      It’s great to do good..but don’t be stupid and naive about the task you are about to undertake.

    Our 14 month male shepherd/ malicious... is usually friendly, and when in public he'll allow petting, but will start growling if ANY steps are taken towards us. AND he really loses it at vet clinic. So now we have to muzzle him.

    What should be done when a healthy, well behaved family dog goes from being 100% well behaved to occasionally snapping at and baring teeth to a young, non aggressive child?

    • @howlingwaters2741
      @howlingwaters2741 ปีที่แล้ว

      Keep them separated until the baby/toddler doesn't need *your full attention*. Babes will be babes and dogs will "correct" undesirable behavior.

    • @walkyourdog6584
      @walkyourdog6584 ปีที่แล้ว

      Be very scared and take the situation seriously.

      Take the dog to the vet for full exam. Pain can cause weird behavior or sudden bad behavior. Obviously keep the dog away from the child.

      Naturally the world gives less than pleasurable outcomes as the result of certain situations as well as to one's own actions.
      Sit in the sun for too long and it will burn.
      Brush up against a cactus and get pricked.
      Trample through poison oak and end up with a rash.
      Drink carelessly at the crocodile pond and end up looking down a crocodile throat.
      Walk out into the road then freeze up in the headlights and end up getting runover.
      Pick a fight with the wrong one and end up catching a beating.
      Fear and pain often teach a lesson which isn't soon forgotten.
      Bearing teeth and snapping at my little human would result in a dog who'd climb atop a hot stove or squeeze through the crack at the bottom of the door, before he'd snap at the kid again.
      That dog would climb up the chimney like Santa, before he'd bare his teeth again.
      I've had to cut and push a fish hook through my dog's lip after he got ahold of a lure somehow, and there wasn't a growl a nip or a grudge.

    Was mentioned in part 1 about police and military dogs starring in sport then muzzle work so they learn to target the man.
    Just start with man work from the start, sport is not protection. I think its a good way for trainers to get more money from the client

    My question....vet is telling me she thinks he's aggressive 😮. And thinks it'll become issue if we don't fix it. He's amazing with children and anyone he obvious knows...or comes to hours. But he's very protected of his family. Do we need to be seriously concerned??

    How many of us have visons of their dog being off leash, charging down the terrain, and ignoring recall. The thought of training to overide their trigger is intimidating.

    In a civilised society, we would not allow murderers to walk amongst us..
    Yet these breeds that have intact DNA to kill are somehow overlooked, even when animals, and Humans are violently killed

      In a civilised society we would not let murderers amongst us..we don’t vilify a whole race or community of people just because individuals of that community were murderers. We don’t send a murderers whole family to death row.

      The average person is at more risk of dying going back and forth to work or in a workplace accident.
      There are more people that drown in swimming pools than there are people killed by dogs, every year.
      Deer kill more people every year than dogs, and so do bee's/wasps/hornets.
      People are more likely to be killed by a family member, friend, partner, co-worker, classmate, or a stranger.
      Dogs are a little bit more dangerous than cows but a lot less dangerous than secondhand smoke, although there aren't any death certificates stating secondhand smoke as the cause of death.
      These killer dogs are here to stay but so are the killer Mosquitoes. Just wait, antel, you find out how many people they kill every year.

    I had a staffy for 13yrs I was 19 when I got him so all I cared about was having that prime time staffy bull terrier but counter to most peoples belief me and most of my friends got our dog kicks by seeing the look of your face when you realise wow these dogs are better behaved than my own dog is. Your embarrassing us flash. Stop humping that boys nice what is that thing?
    Cane corso ma'am n yes please remove your dododelight thing from my dog. He's a champion.
    My staffy was more like a cat than a dog. Which made him get attacked so many times over the years.
    Labs. Collies and retrievers were the most likly to attack too that surprised me.
    .
    What still infuriates me to this DAY! Is so many of these farmers wives tweed wearing I'm it youre 💩 types.
    They're collie would come attack lunge snapping at my dog whilst I drop the leash. Watch my dog dance around until he's behind me and I'm ready to kick the 💩 I would fully radiate rage in these moments and i think the dogs felt it. They 100% fled from me once faced with me they flee my staffy terrified like wtF.
    Our first attack was a boarder collie but I still wonder was I its target.
    Waiting to cross a road staffy calm sit waiting for the word to cross and we see a collie head down low growl stalking us.
    A decrepit one blind eye scraggy coat mange zombie dog and it just kept coming. Until it lept into the air I jumped backwards yanked my dog with me and watched this collie sail by my head eye level with me and it flew by cleared like 8ft from a crawl. 😮 But landed so hard it face planted into the road 😂😂😂😂😂
    We just watched as it shook its head then carried on going like it only wanted that way anyway.
    Now that staffy is gone. I raised my 3 kids with that dog as their favourite toy. The dog loved the babies attention too even if its just trying to poke his eyes he let's them. Pull his ears? What else are they for? Hanging onto his tail pulled along by doggy. Wait till I ride him. 🤪
    He was the best dog ever watching old videos I noticed how even when his claws get too close to tot he tucks them in under himself to keep them out of the way. When I saw that in 2 videos i was still shocked. He thought about it. He really was incredible.
    When my eldest was 3-4 she got a hair cut loved the experience came home eager to play a new game with the doggy. 😮😢
    She got her craft scissors kids but had wavey pattern metal cutters. She got the dog old faithful by her side and gave him a hair cut but staffs don't have hair like that so where did she choose to cut,
    His ear yes. She nicked that dogs ear like 5mm and it drip drip dripped red. The dog let out such a yelp stunned the 4yr old I came running into the room to see them both frozen in place kid holding scissors looking pale WHAT DID I DO?
    Dog looking at me like WHAT DID IT DO?
    Luckily that was it she never did that again. She felt terrible when she realised. My fault more though feeling comfortable with my kid and dog playing in the next room. But that was the biggest whoa moment and the dog performed beautifully he earned all of his trust though.
    The first time we met a kid togeher staffy was 3 my first baby on the way. This kid run up on my staffy then jumped slapped my dogs azz to the floor he was in such shock his rear just flopped whilst his front spun around to face the threat and was nose to nose with little boy. Time stopped still.
    My dog then licked the boy chin to eyebrows the wettest lick i seen him do. Cartoon dog licking steak look.
    The boy didn't move a muscle just had a dopey smile like yes that worked perfectly. I got his attention now.
    My dog licked him then turned to me like let's go. Snapping me back into motion. I turned to face the mother ready to be English level sarcastic but when I saw her face I just walked away.
    The mother knew exactly what she looked like a pillar of salt I never seen a human like that before. She knew how lucky we all were.
    Cos if it had been bad then the part about dog walking along then smacked into next week when he's already nervous of thing behind him. When he already had noisy cars at speed over head the under pass we was in. Senses on alert and still he got smacked into the floor. None of that would matter in the slightest.
    But I knew wow this dog will be great with my kids. And HE WAS.
    When we moved into our new home all decorated me and dog got there together and explored the rooms dog at my side all the way. Until I walked out of the nursery and saw my dog didn't come in he waited just outside the gate which I thought wow he's respecting the babies space. Like he knows. Wow.
    Then months later I realised how dog never jumps up on the couch anymore. So made himself a rule the kids safe place is the sofa. Which later was perfect if the kids over excited him got parted I could make the kid stay on the sofa and the dog won't creep over again for more.
    Ide never trust my malnois GSD like my staffy though. I hated tools on dogs whilst I had a great dog ofcourse prong and E collars are cruel I've no need of those things.
    Until now I do. Omfg I do. I tried the e collar first but its just not strong enough when malinois GSD goes outside he's big cat prowl mode heavily stimmed E collar does nothing.
    So I got the prong atleast try to stop him rearing up and jumping at people which it did perfectly. He checked himself one time on prong never did again. 😂😂😂
