      Probably because he truly cares what happens with the dogs. A lot of people when someone tells them it’s their fault or criticizes them will shut down and ignore them. He basically tells them they are wrong in a polite way so they are more willing to listen to the advice and training

    What a fantastic discussion. I was sat saying 'yes' constantly. You all are so correct in what you have said. We get so annoyed with people who do not realise that dogs need boundaries and rules. Our dogs, like our children, now hardly ever need telling off, as they know the boundaries and the consequences. This means we have a fantastic life with our dogs, they are calm, happy, relaxed and look to us as the head of the pack, and one that loves them. Thank you all, I loved this.

    • @mirawenya
      @mirawenya 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I do a lot of praise for my dog, that doesn't mean there's no boundraies and rules. If anything, there's a lot of boundaries and rules. I've raised him since 8 weeks. He's now 20 months. To be able to teach these boundaries and rules, I've often had to teach him what I expected of him. It's not just what not to do, it's what I want him to do instead. And with that comes a lot of prasie and reinforcement. I have a dog that waits for his food, waits to go out the door, waits to get out the car, that doesn't beg for food, he allows me to cut his nails, give him eye drops, and brush him. (He'll sit for me, give paw to brush his feathers, lay down with his head on my lap so I can brush his neck etc.) All voluntary. He can walk off if he wants to, and doesn't. He doesn't pull on walks, but gets to sniff around for 99 percent of the walk.. He's become exactly what I want him to be. And it took consistency, kindness, patience and lots of praise. Rules and boundaries for sure, but it's not taken a harsh word, nor leash correction, or prong or e-collars. Did I have to repeat myself ad nauseum? Yes. Do I still repeat myself? No. You can have rules and boundaries while still "saying yes constantly".

    I’m so thankful I found you guys. When my rescue turned out to be way more reactive than I was ready for, I didn’t know what to do, when we’d just see a dog at the end of the street, she’d start going nuts and I couldn’t get her attention back, I could literally hold a treat an inch from her nose and couldn’t get her to look at me (and the constantly feeding treats while you walk method doesn’t work so well when the dog is only 15lbs). I walked her so much to try and desensitize her (since she seemed constantly overstimulated when we left the house) but it just didn’t seem to be getting any better. She’s my fifth dog and the only one I ever considered rehoming, but then I found Beckman and finally had a path. She’s still a work in progress, but now she’ll walk loose leash and come when I call her the first time.

True constructive criticism or a level- headed difference of opinion can be valuable ways to learn and grow (no matter how much experience you have), but straight-up bashing is just a useless tool to express an opinion. Two comments guys-
    First: What a week! Three incredible videos back to back to back! Plus, who knew Joel could be so gracious lol.
    Second: It’s time to bring back an opening theme. These abrupt openings are getting kind of jarring. You already have the perfect opening song too! It’s your secondary theme- an easy going tune that I have heard on some older videos which I think came near the end. It would Imo make a perfect opening theme to the podcast. Just my 2 cents. 😊

      The reason content creators forgo the intro is that a lot of people don't like the intros to the point that they will bounce off the video before the intro ends. Personally, I just skip intros and I really love it when there are the chapters that tells me where the intro ends so I can start the content.

    Love, love, love Dog Daddy and Joel Beckman!!! Great interview with my favorites! People don't know what to do with dogs that act out. So they use their brain to try stuff they are guessing what to do then when it doesn't work they blame the dog as if it's their true nature then take it to the pound or put the dog down or they get smart and use you for correction. You are saving millions of dogs and giving owners the right information. And preventing a lot of damage. I so appreciate you both!

    I know this is a little older, couple.months old, and I just started the interview so this has nothing to do with the interview. I just want to say I absolutely love both these guys. Both channels have totally changed me and my dogs and how I train my dogs forever. I was having a real problem with a dominant dog. I've got two males and one female. The two males after hitting about a year and a half old started to have issues over food and generally who was the most dominant. I was so worried that I would have to re-home one or both of them if I couldn't get it under control. We don't have much money so paying for training is out of the question. I was up until about 4am a few nights ago desperately trying to find a solution. These three are very special to me. Their mom was the best dog I ever had the privilege of living with. She became pregnant by accident and she passed away after giving birth. I was devastated but I was left with 9 new born pups to care for. My wife and I took shifts sleeping so one of us was up to feed and care for the pups. We rehomed all but 3 and these three were the ones I was the closest to. Parvo came through the house while we still had about 6 of them and it took one of the pups and their father. Again devastated. I pushed water down their throats to keep the 5 survivors alive. So needless to say if I couldn't get these guys under control I was going to lose the only link I still had to Harley. Watching both your channels has shown me that I needed to be the boss. That they needed a leader and I needed to be that leader. We are about 4 days now I to the training and my whole family sees a noticable difference. They sit, stay and come on command which was something they would only previously do if we had a treat for them. We even seem closer if that's even possible. I love my dogs and I realize that being we don't have a whole lot of money isn't ideal so I've been forced to do most everything myself from training to vaccinations to treatments that I can handle. I am all they've ever known. Their first memories are of me and my wife feeding them. When they opened their eyes it was me who they saw. So basically after this extremely long winded comment I want to say thank you for putting this information online for people like me to find. I no longer fear the aggression. I handle it with confidence and patience now. I feel my own confidence has increased along with my dogs. Thank you both.

    I know as balanced trainers, by nature we have no fight in us, we literally got into this to help people avoid banging their heads against a wall... but I'm starting to think this may have to be a battle. I try to stay in my lane, but lately you two and Ivan have me thinking a little bit differently. I don't know if going heads on against Zak and the ideologists is necessarily the best approach. That seems like adding fuel to the fire, as much as i would LOVE for things to go south for that movement, literally for the sake of the dogs that we help. But I do like Ivan's recent idea of funding more studies that are actually scientific is a good one. I love all of this podcast, every freaking second, keep this dialogue going! The world needs more balanced superstars talking the good talk!
