I just changed mine last week 09 Edge, the cradle doesn't need to be dropped, once you disconnect the lower dogbone, rock the engine down and place a block in, the ptu will fall right out
2008 Ford EdgeAWD here, 140kMiles, original PTU with Oil changes made easy as follows: ~ Drill+Tap PTU bottom between ExhaustPipe & TranMt, installed Fumoto10mmDrainValve. ~ Replaced 1/2"*14 FillPlug on PTU side with 1/2"*14 to 3/8"HoseBarb90 pointed upward. ~ Removed PTU TopVentCap+Rubber1Way wIth 5/8"Socket+ScrewPick, reveals 3/8"HoseBarb. ~ Installed two 3/8"OilHoses from PTU HoseBarbs to FireWall between BattTray+FuseBox. ~ Installed FiberGlassInsulationWrap around ExhaustPipe under ear PTU. ~ Installed OilCatchCan with FIlteredVent on FireWallTopLip between BattTray+FuseBox. ~ Refilled PTU 1/2qt=16oz 75w140 HiTemp AmsOil thru above new OilCatchCan+Hoses. ~ Routinely Drain+Refill PTU at 5kMile\6Mth intervals, along with EngineOil+Filter changes.
I had never heard of this issue till now for some reason.Own a 2015 mkx and it just hit 100k and never had a fluid change.I did use a pump and pumped it out and just seemed like dirty gear oil.Not all thickened up like others I had seen.Going to do it again in near future..
I have same car with the same issue I see the old one $300 + also I see at Amazon new one after market $500+ you got it from Amazon to what your experience so far Whit that please respond it to me
Does anyone know if on the passenger side if there are two axles with the inner going into the ptu or is it a one piece axle that goes direct into ptu ??? Thanks
