Ordered one from blade hq and I absolutely love mine. I ordered a deep carry pocket clip as well, as I’m not the biggest fan of the standard split arrow clip.
I generally carry a benchmade boost 590-sbk-1 federal exclusive as my work and field knife, but the 9400 has quickly became my edc for when I go out as it’s a significantly slimmer knife and disappears in my pocket much better in civilian attire when I’m worried about concealing my knife.
Very cool review! The 940 auto is a great Benchmade knife. One of my favorites. I have both versions: satin and black blade. The back spacer on the 940 really gives it a unique look.

Big 940 fan also. Have many of their models and exclusives, but ima wait till they come out with a blue or black one before I pull the trigger.
Just for giggles, I decided to check the edge thickness on my 5 yr. old 940. It’s thinnest by the handle, at .028. Up at the belly curve, it’s .032. The edge bevel is about 45 degree inclusive. It’s definitely not one of my better slicers.
Great design on it, well done conversion to auto.
Haha actually carrying my 940 today, and would really like to try the auto version. It’s amazing how many autos are on my wish list knowing that I can’t get them :(
Was literally JUST contemplating this knife. I think I'll just stick with my standard Osborne.
Gonna wait on different scales. Finally figured out how to set and maintain an axis lock. More fidgety then an auto which is mostly what my knives are used for 😂

I’d love to see this compared to the Newport. I really want to get my first side auto, definitly getting the mini Socom elite when that finally comes out, but I want a 9400 or Newport until then (I’m a HUGE 940 fan)
I dont care what anyone says about Benchmade I will always love them. In my opinion the best production knives being made right now with Spyderco a very close second. Lifetime and lifesharp warranty with awesome customer service. Do they have some problems? Yes but a company that's willing to stand behind their knife and make the wrongs, right speaks volumes. Great video and I am jealous!!!

A great review Bryan. I don’t have any Benchmades yet but this is appealing. I opted for the 940 inspired Ganzo FH756 which fits my hand better and at 20% of the cost (no hate please). If I do spring for the big bucks Benchmade I think it will be the Superfreek. Thanks!
What do you think about the Kershaw launch 11 would you say that is a good knife for every day carry and for cutting

The LUDT is worth it. I personally wouldn't spend that much on a Benchmade. I would but a protech or microtech. Wey better quality. My opinion of course.
yup, spend just a little more, you get that M390/204P steel on LUDT. BM 9400 asks $200+ for S30v is just unacceptable

The same Benchmade on Zach's stuff channel, but he has a march 2020 prototype model, the button is flat ;) I'm not an autos fan, and when I will buy a 940 it will be the 940-2 (for the G10 weightlight)
940 XL with 4“ blade would be a bomb drop for Benchmade! I think people would gobble it up!

I picked up a arcane. It is my first assisted knife. After having a broken in axis lock I don’t see the purpose. Much harder to close. Kills my figit factor for me.

Looks nice but with me being a lefty I obviously wouldn't go for it personally. I think an OTF version that has the same general look would be neat though. But it would probably cost a small fortune.

I am surprised we had such different experiences with how hard it hits. I showed in my video on the 9400 that the invictus kicked a good bit harder than the 9400. Maybe it’s variation in quality control in one or both of the knives?

It's a sliding manual lock instead of just being jimping to stabilize your thumb

The benchmades ive seen in the last 5-6 months have been good, fit & finish wise
@David I have not seen any centering issues on my 560bk-1... and well if my 202 Leuku had centering issues thatd be catastrophic lol...
Off topic, I haven't seen any reviews on the Kershaw launch 6... is that a bad thing? The launch 11 looks pretty much beloved from what I've seen. Any experience with those ? Opinions even?... maybe out Friend @SliceyDicey could help me with that.. I'm not usually an auto guy, but the Launch 6 & 11 interest me... as does the BM 9400 & the Osbourne 940 ... I mean to be honest, I'd love 4 inches of coated CPM-M4 (810 Contego) but that might be a little too "tactical" for slicing plastic wrap, and I'm a CDL truck driver and alot of states have a 3.5" and 3" "rule"

To compare the two cutting you should have a current model of the 940. Later where thicker behind the edge. 2018-2019 the edge changed. Also, never owned a 940-1 might get less grind time behind the edge. Difficult to grind on. Probably not ground super thin for that reason.
My 940-1 is an early 2019.
I wish there was a mini 940.

I had one as a loaner and already reviewed it. I like 9400 better.
Like my Benchmades alot! And this is a great idea! But I just waited so long for 940-2 and TF- (or word about why taking so long) that I canceled my order and picked up a couple Microtechs. After spending some time with an Ultratech, at about $250, I'll spent a little more for 204P steel, get delivery this year, and call it a deal! I understand Microtech resharpens serrations under warranty... not BM🦋. And I wouldn't know about Microtech if BM hadn't left me hanging. My money was spent and I wasn't shopping.
It's easy to knock any company's customer service, but this is more like hyping too early so that by the time 1 hits the market nobody cares anymore. Well... I'll just speak for myself. They kinda remind me of Colt in the 90s... Very attentive while taking your order- then roll their eyes when you only order one... and expect them to build it.

Not a big fan of making the 940 an auto, I much prefer it being manual. What would have really sold me would be a front flip, manual, button lock.
