Mario Wonder was announced and released within 5-6 months.
It sold over 13 million units by March 31 this year.
Nintendo does not need to announce a new game ahead of time to be successful.
Mario Wonder did but most franchises don't have the name value that Mario has.

Actually there was a first party game announced at the partner showcase, Endless Ocean Luminous.
The only thing I really need in my life is a "Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake". That would seriously send me launching through my roof. I would prefer a "Majora's Mask" remake, but I know that's not happening. At least, not before an Ocarina of time remake. Im praying.
Edit: It baffles me how you could be hyped for a "Mario baseball" or "Mario Basketball", with the potential of so much else, but that's just me.
But those were remade on 3DS already. Nothing against those games, I just think other games in the franchise deserve a chance to be remade first.
Mario baseball was my childhood, one of my favorite games of all time, so to get a new entry after 15+ years of nothing would be incredible for me

Let me be clear about this and with clarity: The Switch is NOT at the end of its lifecycle, we are STILL in the middle of it, and the last Nintendo Direct is the one in February even though you'd treat it as small. Additionally, I am not over hyped about what to expect in the June Summer Direct, I am instead doing it cautiously.

Or being disappointed if we still don't have anything for a Star Fox new game or a remaster, Metroid Prime 4, F-Zero new game or a GX remaster and a Kid Icarus new game or a Uprising remaster and more disapoint if it's another cash grab games of Mario, Pokemon, Fire Emblem and Kirby being announced because it's not like if we have a lack of Mario, Pokemon, Fire Emblem and Kirby on the Switch since 7 years unlike Metroid, Star Fox, F-Zero and Kid Icarus huh?

I think the chance of us seeing Metroid Prime 4 in this upcoming June Direct is way bigger than what Nin10doland thinks. For me it's basically 50/50 between seeing it in June, or seeing it at an upcoming Switch 2 event.

In the uk false advertising is illegal. Announcing that this direct would only have Switch games then showing a Switch 2 game and not making it clear it was for the new console would be a crime. Either the game they show would have to be a cross gen game or the uk direct would have to be different than the American one.

Since Nintendo became so silent this year it would even shush the crickets in the room, my worrying is on a 7 as silence can lead to sketchy roads (far more sketchy than usual for Nintendo to be this silent), even back in 2016, they were still as secretive of the Nintendo Switch as they are now, which was Project NX at the time, but info leaks were revealing more than the bare minimum we currently have (which might count as nothing)
With all the hype surrounding this direct, it should be big?!

It's going to be one of those uneventful end of life Directs with a bunch of games nobody really wants like Mario sports title, Wii music HD (or something stupid like that), probably another NSO battle royal and maybe if we're lucky a 2D Zelda reusing the Links Awakening assets (or probably multiple games reusing existing assets/graphics, like Advance Wars 3 or Mario 3D Land sequel or something) they won't show Metroid Prime 4 and if they do it'll be delayed or not released until 2026
