My words were from experience - it didn't float because it was doing circuits. You don't have time to deploy ditching protocols fully during circuits because the height is so low, meaning you hit the water in milliseconds, not minutes. So, no, I wasn't spreading misinformation. Also, I didn't say that the RNLI wouldn't show up - their motto is to save lives at sea and they do a phenomenal job of it. I said that the military (particularly HMS Queen Elizabeth) has their own rescue operations team. The point was that, regardless of what the RNLI are doing, it isn't going to make the slightest difference to the survival of the crew. Why? It happened less than 24 hours ago, and details such as the identities of the people involved will not be released until the next-of-kin have consented, and the circumstances of the crash will not be released until the witnesses interviewed, aircraft recovered and at least a preliminary investigation completed. Until then, anything else is just speculation.

Look, feel free to express you opinions on boat crossings, but try to equip yourself with some information before making blanket claims driven by assumptions rather than facts. If you watch the documentaries they release, small boats don't accompany the helicopter during training.
