MACH LOOP MERLIN AW101 and NH90 - 4K

Its been a long time since I last captured a merlin in the loop and to cap it off a Royal Netherlands Navy dropped by to say hello. Ive included a link on each aircraft for anyone interested in detailed comparisons

In fact the maintenance is high (but the on the Merlin also) on this beautiful helo, but sorry, there's no broken down NH90.....

NZ NH90s not fit for much, couldn't fly over sea or mountains. How could our defence force be so stupid to buy these ?

@@carlhedemann4603 couldnt...that was literally years ago and for a week after an engine issue that was then sorted. The 90s routinely fly around the Pacific and do mountain flying annually on ex blackbird but hey, everyone loves a good exaggeration right?

While they mostly fly for our Royal Navy, the NH90's actually are part of the Dutch Royal Airforce now in the Defense Helicopter Command, due to defense cutbacks several years ago. I was privileged to visit them recently, awesome versatile helicopters. Pretty big too! Looking forward to seeing them again next weekend in Den Helder, at the Navy open house days. Thanks for posting this, Dafydd, stunning imagery as always!

Had me baffled for a bit (it is 02:30 so cut me some slack) because I thought it was the Czech Air Force in the helos! Their logo is very similar to that of the Dutch.

@@DafyddPhillips ah that would be awesome. Yeah choppers are also very nice to see. At my backyard (LEUSDERHEIDE) I SEE THE AH-64 VERY OFTEN. Almost on a daily bases. Esp at night time. And ofcourse the CHINOOK thats a realy WORKING BEAST that fly here A LOT. Ok my friend have a nice WEEKEND.

I'm in tears. People talking about the troublesome NH90 (My favourite helicopter) what seems to be the problem ?
I've heard that it can only land on a completly flat runway. To much maintenance, and to expensive to operate 🤷‍♂️ but is it true, or is there even greater problems ?
