This channel has unusually honest reviews, this hardly ever happens in industry where manufacturers hire 'reviewers' to be part of their marketing team. Thank you!
Absolutely love mine, I can see why people were skeptical about the whole it being open and all but tbh it leaks as much as the average apple earpods, they sound great ( with either eq or the cypher your choice :) and I will definitely be keeping mine for as long as possible
I just got the isine 10's and they sound great. I mostly listen on my Pixel device. I would suggest the spectraX amplifier which did the job for me to boost the Headphones to a good level!
After owning the iSines for several months, I can say these are the best in ear headphones I’ve ever heard. I like to use the cipher cable because it’s easier than carrying around another DAC with my phone. However, the only part in this video that I disagree with is the passive cable. After doing some testing, I have found that using the passive cable with a good DAC/amp is almost always better than the cipher cable. The Mojo, the Oppo HA-2SE, and the ifi Micro all sound distinctly better without any problems of treble roll-off or lows being under powered. Anyone with an android could probably get the same quality of the cipher cable for around the same price using the Fiio F1 or something similar, but whether iPhone or android, you’ll probably want something better anyways. Ifi Micro works phenomenally well with them.
I completely agree, im using my HTC 10 which powers them well and without a amp. To me it sounded better than the cipher but once I hooked it up to my Elemental Watson, my oh my. The cipher is no where near as good, absolutely got blown out the water and for the asking price for the Isine 20 which is $800-850 these are a bloody damn steal. They have blown the CA Dorado, JH Roxanne and many other higher end iems costing 2 to 4 times more. Soundstage is out of this world, detail retrieval is the best I have ever heard, silky smooth but crystal clear mids and the treble? WHAT ROLL OFF? I can say yes its smooth and dark, but that treble is to die for. Honestly, best iems I have heard period.
I own the iSine 20 since approx 2 months and I also had the chance to listen to the LCD i4 at the German distributors office. While I agree in general with your assessment I think that it is important to add that the 3D of the iSine 20 doesn't come from the Cypher cable but also comes through when you use some EQing on the Onkyo HF player. Since I have them I barely use my other headphones like the HD 800 etc. It is also interesting how much better the LCD i4 are. I was amazed how shockingly good they sounded. The German distributor had also some loudspeakers standing around in the shop part of their offices and it was sometimes hard to distinguish if the sound came from the LCD i4 or the loudspeakers (although they were actually not running).
Just wondering are they bad in a noisy environment? Say a gym which plays music, would there be too much bleed ruining the music? Also wondering if I could use a replacement memory cable and would that be able to hold them in place as well as the rest clips?
spacecats Depends if you want it to be a portable set up or if you want to just sit at home and listen which could cost a good fair bit but you'll get the best out of the Isine 10 or 20
FYI you can use EQ to tune them like the cipher-cable, Audeze rep posted the PEQ to mimic the cipher on the Head-fi thread for the isines. EQ'd and powered by a good dac/amp is how they sound their best imo. EDIT:Link in the answer to the comment.

Love your videos, been watching them for years. I know you dont do much professional cans but, i'd love to see your reviews on the Sony MDR 7510 and KRK KNS 8400!
The problem with Android devices is that its more difficult to get audio digital signal out of the micro usb port. On iOS devices its much easier and Apple provides all the guidelines on how to do that to manufacturers (it even has a special program for manufacturers that use the lighting technology). So, you can't really blame them for offering you the iOS cable.
My driver failed withing 2 monts, but at least Audeze customer service is great. Sound-wise they're incredible. Audeze have also explained why they can't offer an android cable (because of diversity on the market), so I guess a lightning cable is better than nothing right?
cost not really laughable since they sound nearly identical to EL8's they're like a poor mans EL8's but I'd still rather lug these around in my bag over EL8's but EL8's leakage is heard from across the room the Sine 10's you can barely hear big plus
"Audeze have also explained why they can't offer an android cable (because of diversity on the market)" That's BS if you ask me, what I suspect is really happening is that the contract they have with Apple allowing them to use the lightning connection stipulates that they aren't allowed to make the same cable for USB, and that of course they aren't allowed to say that because the contract content must stay confidential or they'll get sued. Oppo can make a usb DAC/AMP that works for Android, as well as AudioQuest, Fiio, Chord, SMSL, Sony, Denon, Encore, Cambridge, Creative and pretty much everybody else on eath seem to be able to make them just fine but somehow Audeze can't seem to make a product that the Chinese are mass producing for under 10$ ? So either they're incredibly incompetent or they don't actually want to do it.
I have the iSine 20 and I understand the stock aux cable is lacking the Audio decoding and equalizer for the full experience/punch of the earphones that the APPLE Cypher cables provide, also the Bluetooth Cypher is an option but it's still behind the apple direct wire connections delivery. Is there a solution for me to unlock the FULL GLORY of these headphones using my ANDROID PHONE? Audiophiles please help!!!!
Great review video Tyll. Just wondering do these have a similar sound to the HD800S do they produce more bass? I don't have the opportunity to audition them sadly.
Did your pair have a midrange peak? On the pair I tried it was quite sharp when excited and a deal breaker. If it weren't for that peak I would buy instantly. Also I laughed out loud at i4 price literally.
I don't think the iSine is the first open in-ear headphone. The Stax srs-001 is also in-ear and open back, but I think it came out much earlier than the iSine.
Most uncomfortable earphone I've tried to wear. Gave me headaches within 15mins. Too bad because they sound amazing (as long as you're in a perfectly quiet room and not moving around)
A suggestion or two. Did you experiment with the ear tips? Your ear canals are probably not the same size so you may want to mix and match. Also, the ear hooks in the video are no longer in use, Audeze redesigned them and the new ones are a lot more comfortable. Remember, these are not made for a deep insertion . The ear tip should rest right in the opening of your ear canal.
But tyll, we can always use dsp correction on the 3.5mm as well. Maybe its a good idea for audeze to share their cipher dsp correction pmeq curve so ppl who uses a more upstream gear could correct it as well while using a more resolving dac
I am using the iSine10 and Its a mixed bag, but in a different way. Its great for using with a laptop or phone on the go or for using with my dac/amp (this little fella uses my Asgard 1 like a boss). I tend to use them at home for gaming, on the go, at work. Not for critical listening or music, I use LCD-2 for that (cant use lcd-2 for gaming as my head develops a hotspot and my neck tells me to go F myself after a while). My only negative opinion about it is that the eartips are not exactly what Id like (I love the shure foams, other tips can induce pain over time in my case). Lucky for me I can Frankenstein the shure tips for this HP, just need to buy some new ones. I suggest using the clip to hold the cable in place (close to your neck) if you use them on the go. Other way the tips will move slightly every time the cable wobbles, inducing discomfort more often.
Completely different in year solutions but if you were to take the sound stage imaging at face value how do they stack up against the SE 846? I currently own these, and if I was to buy these I sine, where would I find the value in its performance,? Just curious, seeing as it's a bit difficult getting hold of these and been able to send it back if you don't like them
I'm surprised they didn't make an android version that takes advantage of OTG USB audio out. That "dongle" is nothing more than a low current draw DAC/AMP I'm guessing.
They've stated that they couldn't make an android cable because of diversity in the market, and a cable wouldn't work with all android phones. The dongle is a dac/amp that draws power from the lightning port yes, with some dsp built-in
Here is some information on the current state of USB audio in android. The Cipher cable already supports USB internally, but we are waiting for the market to mature before taking a stab at it. www.computeraudiophile.com/ca/bits-and-bytes/an-audiophile-switches-from-ios-to-android/
Vince Buonassi, here is my guess as to why Audeze refuses to releace USB C or USB Micro Cypher, Audeze needed to get on shelves of Apple. One of Apple's conditions was that Lightning will be the only connector for agreed number of years.
what's more important isn't imaging ,very wide soundstage, neutral which boring but the more natural everything sound and place around your head hear the hd 800 it sound really not good ..there is a hole btw bass, mids and highs.beyer t1 sound the same but smoother and better 3d... the best is utopia real natural imaging with very good soundstage that's what most reviewers didn't focus on the thickness of the sound is very important... Not ridiculous at all. However, they serve a small niche. I own these, among a lot of other IEMs and headphones. These can’t replace my home headphone setup, nor can they replace any IEM or true wireless IEM for when I am on the go. However, these are a great stand in for my main rig when I travel. I use them to unwind in my hotel room.
I am planning to buy Audio Technica ATH M50x because I can't find a M40X here in my country or I'll buy a Sony NW a30 walkman. Which do you suggest I buy first the M50x or the NW a30? I'll only use it for listening to music and I'm no audio professional but I want to enjoy my music with clarity and accuracy.
I laugh at the cipher, yes its a good dac, but these sound so much better through my HTC 10 hooked up to my Elemental Watson, people that are saying these are over priced? Nah these are a bargain. Amp them well and feed them a very good dac then listen to some iems that cost 2 or 3 times more. You'll be amazed how good these really are. They punch way beyond the price. The lcdi4 are more pricey but that price seems about right. The Isine 20? Way underpriced, but hey hey, thats great for us :D
Has anyone tried the iSines with custom cables? A lot of people say the stock cables don’t sound good and o agree, but maybe there’s a solution for non-iOS users.
i listened to these a while ago with the standard cable on a fiio x7 , metla music , and did not like them , low bass and not so much mids , treble a little recessed...
Alex Serban so low everything? that would be flat / neutral. you literally cannot say they have low bass low mids and low treble and expect that to come across as anything meaningful...
Alexandru Serban Did you use a good amp? These are planar iems and benefit so much with much more power. With the Fiio X7 alone, it will not do these justice at all. Fiio X7 with Chord mojo or Elemental Watson? These become mind blowing good.
So I received my Oppo Pm-3's today. So far I love them! That being said I currently own modded HifiMan He-400, Vmoda M100s, Sennheiser Urbanite on-ear, and HD-6XX. For amp and DAC I have the Schiit Asgard 2, Schiit Fulla 2, Cayin C5 (amp only), and JDS Labs ODAC. Im saving up about $1000 currently for my next purchase, I was thinking about getting then Focal Elears, but do you think I should invest my $ elsewhere (dac/amp)? Thanks for all you do Ty!!!
Benjamin Talley what does you showing off all your equipment have to do with this review??? Stick with the subject , now I know why Tyll doesn't answer any questions
Ron Bernard besides being excited about acquiring a headphone Tyll raved about I'm not showing off anything. I figured knowing what headphones I already had might be relevant to determining whether I should go for the Elears or upgrade my other equipment. I wasn't aware Tyll didn't questions, but I figured there would also be community responses regardless. I'm an enthusiast same as you (I assume you didn't wind up watching a video like this by accident), but I have limited means to test new equipment before purchasing otherwise this decision would already have been made.
Then you either need to try the cipher eq or get comply's to get a better seal. I've owned both at the same time and the isines destroy the se215 on bass quality and quantity.
Magnus Eide Knutsen I have tried cipher EQ. it adds warmth to the bass.and I have the earphones shoved deep into my ears as possible. It's just not my preferred sound signature I guess
That's your problem though...these are not meant to be shoved all the way in (giggity). I got used to the amount of bass in mine after a few days. You should probably play around with the fittings for a while. I eq'd them a bit to increase the bass a bit btw.
SE215 better than iSine? You are joking? I use SE846, and those are light years ahead of 215, but as far as distortion goes, iSine blows away my 846. Reason I'm not buying iSine is Audeze and Apple agreement to have Cypher with Lightning only. But Shure 215? lol
This channel has unusually honest reviews, this hardly ever happens in industry where manufacturers hire 'reviewers' to be part of their marketing team. Thank you!

The only reviewer I trust, thank you for a another video!
Bismillah
Miss you Tyll! Innerfidelity is no where near as good without you.
These really need to go very near the top of the wall of fame!
I just got the isine 10's and they sound great. I mostly listen on my Pixel device. I would suggest the spectraX amplifier which did the job for me to boost the Headphones to a good level!
im not 100% sure, but the star sr002 would also qualify as fully open.

How would you describe the diffrence between isine 20 and i4?
Just wondering are they bad in a noisy environment? Say a gym which plays music, would there be too much bleed ruining the music? Also wondering if I could use a replacement memory cable and would that be able to hold them in place as well as the rest clips?
Stax made the first open in-ear.
I think you are correct. I have the Stax SRS-002, and love them! However, I did place an order for the iSine10 yesterday, so eager to compare the two.
cal bear what’d you think?
I like my iSine20 as well, but I prefer the standard cable with my Lotoo Diana Edition music player.
hearing someone say they prefer the standard cable is very rare XD
spacecats No really... Many on head fi prefer the standard cable as you can amp them properly and give them a better dac : )
hmm....now I feel empty inside...oh well as long as they sound good ;)
btw got any reccomendations on said amps/dacs? im rlly interested

Magnus Eide Knutsen thank you!!
Just want to say what a difference EQ makes .sound even better
Magnus Eide Knutsen may i ask, are the alternatives or the original cipher better? They both seem pretty different
Love your videos, been watching them for years. I know you dont do much professional cans but, i'd love to see your reviews on the Sony MDR 7510 and KRK KNS 8400!
Try these cans with any older Nokia phone. N81 or music express model.... astonishing sound!
We miss you Tyll. Just want you to know.
There've been several cases of the drivers on these failing already, keeping with audeze tradition
also a big fuck you to non ios users.

My one issue with these is the cable's strain relief on the lightning cable. i've had my iSine 10 a month and already had the cable replaced.
Great review video Tyll. Just wondering do these have a similar sound to the HD800S do they produce more bass? I don't have the opportunity to audition them sadly.
Can't wait for Audeze El-8 Closed-back... or... Audeze el-8 closed-back Titanium. (with in line DAC)

Would you get equivalent results adding your own eq (matching the cyphers) using the music player on an android device?
couldn't I just use EQ with an android device? or does the iOS cable add something more that standard EQ doesn't have..
Can't wait for LCDi4 next hah
$2500 for those things is insane lol
You should get the isine 10. IMO, they're better than the 20s and worth every penny. Plus, I'd like to hear what you think about them.
Any chance you could review the bowers and Wilkins p9 headphones.
Thinking of getting them.
The p9 sounds amazing. Let me know if you want one.
Is the microphone on it any better than the EarPods?
interesting enthusiasm night and day next to Z reviews on these cans
Jazz Juke LA I guess it depends what kind of sound they prefer.but I bought the isine 10 and sound great.i use them for gaming and music
PigeonNutz hey thanks yeah mine are in the mail I had someone who owns both tell me they sound better than the EL8 closed
i recommend to buy comply comfort 600 eartips
PigeonNutz thanks hoping they sound good enough to not want to touch anything
They sound like open headphones.
dear sir, kindly make a comparision of audeze isine 10 with jh Michelle limited, thanks.

BandNerdcp I doubt it because the driver is so small
BandNerdcp they are open back, so yes they will produce a bit of external noise.
I recommend, for the money, trying B&W C5s for $150 if they want an "open sounding" earbud. These are a ridiculous alternative.

Doesn't have anyting to do with the cable, it's because of the dsp in the cipher cable's dac/amp.

I don’t think they are the first in-ear open back earphone. They are the worlds first in-ear planar magnetic earphone.
Sounded like Steve Guttenberg (AKA Sphere) at 7:19
See you at the next booth.
Will i get punched in the nyc subway due to it being semi open? Lol
I have used LCD 3 in public transportation, and lived to tell the tale. Wasn't in NYC tho lol
With ridged ear-tips, for your pleasure. 😆
Take a couple of steps back, Tyll, it will make for a better picture.
I don't trust Audeze qauility. They are overprice everything as well. Pass.
Good review, however, thanks.
$500 for top of the line IEM is actually low.
I have isine10 and they are too bass light for me. Shure SE 215sounds much better to me and it's a lot cheaper
I agree with u, if there is no seal u it will never sound good
SE215 better than iSine? You are joking? I use SE846, and those are light years ahead of 215, but as far as distortion goes, iSine blows away my 846. Reason I'm not buying iSine is Audeze and Apple agreement to have Cypher with Lightning only. But Shure 215? lol
Headphones for 600$ don't sound wright without an EQ !? Just buy something else , simple !
Spider man edition?
HAHAHAHAHA!
A from Avengers
Glad I waited for this review, completely useless product for me!
Damm expensive
Sounds good but pointless, go somewhere loud and public it sucks balls
