    I've always been a set builder. I enjoy sorting cards, plus it gives me something to do with all of the "commons" I get from ripping retail packs. I rip for fun & nostalgia, but of course its awesome to occasionally pull a card thats worth a few hundred out of a blaster. I just have to keep myself in check because I do have an addictive personality. To combat this I only collect 2 products and have pack limit for each. After that limit is reached,, I finish the set buying singles/commons.

      I couldn’t agree anymore with you. Main thing is, is to know your capacity of buying because it does get expensive.

    Good advice.........
    My opinion on sets is collect the vintage ones if you can.
    I made the 1948 Bowman Baseball set & the 1955 Topps Baseball set around 15 years ago.
    Still have them today.
    Alot of HOF rookies in those sets.

    Great advice Scott. I personally don’t open packs. Yes it is fun - of course it is - but you’re 100% paying for that experience alone.
    Also, you’re the first person I’ve heard in the past 3 years to say “collect a set” - which is what we all did before high dollar inserts became the norm. Kudos to you and keep up the great work.

    One of my most beloved sets is my parallel set of 2022 Topps Update. No, they're not all golds or blues or rainbow foils, they're all over the place, but it's a set I worked hard on completing. The Meijer Purple Julio and Bobby are the set pieces in what was the best post-covid set so far, even if Julio and Bobby are dealing with sophomore slumps right now. Sets are fun to collect and are fun to puzzle together over time.

    • @kerouac906
      @kerouac906 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's a great way to make a 'set'. I also propose the idea of making a player 'Rainbow' from an entire year worth of sets, not just one. It'll make it vastly easier to pick up low numbered cards and the 1/1 if you're not chasing one specific set. So you can have an /5 from Chrome, /25 from flagship, /50 from stadium club, etc...

It took me over 4 years back in the day to get the last card from one of the 2006 sets of upper deck baseball. Great job, I am now trying to become a seller as the years are catching up to me. Me and my two daughters started opening packs. I use to be into cards in the 80s. We dig getting excited about the cool cards, even if they don't have a bunch of value. I'm doing it for the memories for them. Sometimes we hit something cool. Either way, it's cool to see my 10 year old get pumped on getting an Ohtani. I have bought a couple PSA 10s. A lot of people want immediate payback. Some end up being worth a lot later in life.

    Hi Scott. Quick question. I have some "junk era" cards that I want to have graded. I know a lot of people are wondering "Why?" with that question, but I have my reasons. For cards like this (A 1990 Donruss Nolan Ryan 5,000K card, for example) which grading service would you recommend? These will likely just be for personal collection.
