    You are correct Randy, hunting is available to everyone. In my case I was diagnosed with MS and I hunted every year but no more. I just want to say keep hunting and making these videos, they are great. Keep hunting ☺

      Dang, sorry to hear that. I have a friend who was diagnosed with MS in his late 30's and it has really been a challenge for him to do what he used to do. My best to you. Thanks for watching.

    Awesome Video Randy!! Being a Canadian Hunter I'm a little sticker shocked buy how much money Americans have to pay for hunting tags!! SOO much cheaper in Canada for some reason.

    • @Fresh_Tracks
      @Fresh_Tracks  8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes, we do pay a lot. But, that is what funds our wildlife agencies and conservation system. It is not a perfect system, but what we have arrived at here in the states. Thanks for watching.

    Couldn't have said it any better. The plan you laid out is the one I use. Now to see if I draw my Arizona elk tag in the next couple weeks.....

    • @Fresh_Tracks

      Thanks. I just got a credit card hit for AZ this morning. Hope you draw.

      Randy Newberg, Hunter I guess we have the luck of the Irish. Drew my first AZ elk tag it would seem! Western CO OTC rifle should be fun too. Good luck if you end up hunting on the Mesa this year

      Congrats on the AZ draw. Not sure if my schedule will put me in CO this year, or not.

    you didn't mention over the counter tags for Utah. they are available on July 11

    • @Fresh_Tracks
      @Fresh_Tracks  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I didn't, as the UT tags are low on the list of most traveling non-residents as they view the price for the experience to be lower than other states. Not sure if that is true or not, but that is the perception most non-residents have of the UT OTC option in comparison to the states we mentioned here. Thanks for watching.

    Great info, Randy. Thanks for always putting out such helpful content. Do you have a similar guide for mule deer / pronghorn?

    • @Fresh_Tracks
      @Fresh_Tracks  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We don't have such for mule deer or pronghorn. Those are far easier to figure out than are elk.

      Dang, it was that obvious? I have a rare liver condition that was giving me some serious fits that week. Now that I look at it, you are right, I did look kind of rough. Thanks for watching.

    • @Bringyourquivertotheriver

      Not obvious at all sir, your content is always top shelf. I live for your "hunting logistics" discussions. Your videos and knowledge are the stuff that hunting dreams are made of. I'm 25 and live in Chicago but your videos have really opened my eyes to hunting the west over the last few years. I don't usually leave youtube comments, but you should know. You're the man Randy, seriously.

    One caveat with Wyoming, if you hunt there as a non-resident they require you must use a licensed guide. That skyrockets price way past what most can afford

    • @Fresh_Tracks
      @Fresh_Tracks  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Incorrect. You only need a guide in Wyoming to hunt a designated Wilderness Area, which is a very small portion of the state. All other parts of the state can be hunted without a guide.

    • @jaysmotogp
      @jaysmotogp 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Randy Newberg, Hunter Interesting, guess dont always believe what a non-pro tells you. Thanks Randy!

    • @gunnarhitchcock4363
      @gunnarhitchcock4363 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can also use a resident guide in Wyoming . Doesn’t have to be licensed !

    Randy, any particular opinion or experience with the 6.5 Creedmoor? Seems to shoot flatter with more energy than the 308, but do you feel it’s a little small (bullet diameter wise) for elk? Like you said accuracy and shot placement is key, but in your opinion is the 6.5 below your suggested minimum caliber size?

    • @Fresh_Tracks
      @Fresh_Tracks  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have both. I prefer the heavier bullets of a .308 when hunting elk.

    Randy how much would it be total in Idaho? You mentioned a $155 licence but what about the over the counter feee? Great videos thanks!

    • @Fresh_Tracks
      @Fresh_Tracks  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think they just raised the price of an elk tag a little bit. If you go to their website, it will have the non-resident elk license fee that you will need in addition to your non-resident hunting license.

    What about Oregon? There don't seem to be much information on Oregon elk hunting.

    • @ziongearhart2489
      @ziongearhart2489 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Then how do people elk hunt there year after year?

    • @longridge3078

      Zion Gearhart Yeah lots of over the counter tags for hunts with lots of pressure and people. 15+ years to draw a good bull tag for eastern Oregon. Oregon is managed for money not animals.

    • @Fresh_Tracks
      @Fresh_Tracks  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Steve Gebhart has pretty much nailed the reason why Oregon is low on the list of most traveling non-resident hunters. The other states we mention are widely considered more desirable OTC options than Oregon. Thanks for watchin.

    Got 5 pts for elk and mule deer in wyoming. Trying to narrow down a good unit for a chance at both. Is gohunt.com worth the price??

    • @Fresh_Tracks
      @Fresh_Tracks  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it is worth the price, but I need to get us a lot of tags for the TV show, thus the value I place on it is very high. If you do sign up, you can get $50 of credit at their Gear Shop for using our promo code - RANDY.
      Good luck in your apps. I hope you find a way to do both and have a great hunt.

    randy can you a show for cow hunts in all the states that have elk hunting great show.

    • @Fresh_Tracks
      @Fresh_Tracks  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Since finding cows is the easiest part of elk hunting, we usually don't focus on that. Cows have one primary need, year-round; food, food, food. Find the best food in your unit and you will find the cows. Thanks for watching.
