That's all an good, spend alot of time on trinity and klamath rivers, best I've found is metal detector an pan the signals.real productive, out of eureka, heavy pans(lifetime GPAA member also)
I have to confess that I made that video back in September. My spot on the river is west of Big Bar, a bit down stream from DC. The Trinity river has been picked over for a century and a half so we are left with scraps. I try not to compare what's in my pan to other TH-cam prospectors and just enjoy a beautiful day on the river.
That is just way too much work and project building when you can use a gold claw gold pan not have to classify anything and you can completely remove the black sand from your away from the gold
I don't often have time to make it out to the river. I agree that it is way too much work but I have as much fun building stuff as using it. For me, it is less about catching gold as the adventure of prospecting building hair brained ideas on how to catch gold. Either way, when I do get out, I always find a beautiful day on the river.

use a shallow wedge versus the brush?
Spent some time in Douglas City this year. Did ok. Water was way too high.
