I hope you all enjoyed this video showing what medical school on zoom looks like! Honestly, when I don't have clinic responsibilities, I spend a lot of my days like this lol
It really blows my mind how small this world is! I was having a PAO on both of my hips at Mayo in 2019. I had Dr. Sierra an orthopedic surgeon and then I had Dr. Levy repair both of my labrum’s. It’s so sick seeing you at Mayo, makes me remember a very hard but rewarding time!
Hey man, Junior in HS here. This whole first semester of my hs year has been really bad and have been lacking a lot of motivation and inspiration to do anything, but about a night before the week of most my my assignments being due with loads of failing classes with the semester coming to an endI had watched one of ur videos and it had inspired me to sit down and crank out loads of work and as of now I am passing all of my classes and ready to take on next semester with all ive got, thanks for posting these :D
I am honored!! Thank you so much for sharing this with me! You just inspired me even more! It’s funny how inspiration can get passed back and forth like that. Good work!!
hey JR! current med applicant who just found your videos this past week; wanted to stop in and say i’ve been enjoying them a ton, and I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors!
Hey! Thanks so much! I’m glad you’ve been enjoying my videos. And good luck in the medical school application cycle! I’m sure you’re going to crush it. Let me know if you ever have questions about anything!
@@EvolvingMedic I definitely appreciate the offer as well as the guidance in your videos. Fortunately, I have one acceptance and another interview on Tuesday, so I certainly cannot complain about how the cycle has gone!
Hey! Minnesota native here👋🏻 My grandpa, Dr. Richard Schindler, was a Mayo Clinic doctor so it’s so cool to see it highlighted in these videos! I’m pretty new to your videos and I was wondering if you are from Minnesota as well!? I’m a freshman and the university of minnesota and studying biology on a pre med track and hoping to go to medical school too! I love watching how hard you work as it motivates me to work hard so one day I can hopefully be a medical student in an excellent program like Mayo!
Hey Karina! That’s so awesome that your grandpa was a Mayo doctor! I’m glad you’ve been enjoying my videos! I’m not from Minnesota but my wife is so I’m becoming more and more Minnesotan every year we live here! Lol Good luck with premed! I’m sure you’ll make a great applicant in a few years
I’m so excited for those videos! I wish I had a proper sleep schedule to be able to get up at 5am (finals are killing me 😂). Also! The music in this video was fire.
@@EvolvingMedic omg! So nice to get in touch. You're doing an amazing job here on TH-cam and I am pretty sure you're being perfect in Medical School! Thanks for the motivation! Congratulations for the videos, they're amazing!
What platform do you use for journaling? I've been thinking about starting that habit myself, but I can't find the place! The video as inspiring as usual, keep doing this and good luck!!
I have the 11” since it’s primary purpose is to be my mobile computer. But if it were my main computer I would probably prefer the 12.9. And a desk tour sounds like a good idea for a video!
Hi JR! New subscriber here and as a pre-med student, I have been binging your videos and finding so much motivation and inspiration from them :) Does med school involve a lot of group work and presentations? I have a little anxiety when it comes to public speaking, so I would love to have a video where you give tips on presenting and preparing for that!
Hey Anna! Thank you so much for your support! And I’m glad your enjoying the videos! There is quite a bit of group work throughout medical school, but know that you will not be the only one who gets a bit anxious when having to speak in front of people. I think most students feel that to some degree (I know I do!). But part of medical school is slowing progressing and becoming more comfortable with this in relatively low-stress environments (i.e. where there’s no wrong answers or presenting as groups, etc.). And you’ll come to find that it becomes easier and easier! But I will definitely consider making a video going into more details on the topic!
What app/tool do you use to journal. I have never done it and seems like a great thing to do in the morning. Do you have any recommendations for it. Thank you and love your videos!
I use the app Notion and created a template where every day I answer two questions: How will I grow today? What am I thankful for? I’m so happy you’re enjoying my videos! And I hope you get the same benefit from journaling that I do!
Thank you, Jr. Your videos are a great inspiration for medical students. Which deck would you suggest as a beginner Anki deck for pre-studying physiology? My medical school hasn't studied physiology yet but I want to alleviate the workload for the upcoming years. Thank you.
I usually listen to low-fi hip hop beats. It’s just instrumentals because any lyrics end up distracting me. For me, I have a playlist that I use and when I start it, it helps my brain get into study mode. But I know music can be more of a distraction to some people. I think it really depends on the person.
Hi! I am seriously considering becoming an MD after high school and am curious about something....how many papers (research or otherwise) per semester were you required to write for your undgrad degree/med school? I am terrible at writing papers and hate doing them so I want to know what to brace myself for 😂
Hahah that depends on your major in college. Some classes require more writing than others. It’s definitely not my favorite thing to do either lol, but you’ll have to write at some level no matter what so finding efficient and effective ways to get it done is helpful!
I personally haven’t had any issues related to viruses or slowing my computer down. Sometimes certain add-ons get a little funky and I have to delete and reinstall them. But that’s about it!
How often do you exercise? Knowing you were a D1 athlete, I am sure you find time to workout..... is there any time to do that in med school? If so, how many times a week? As a current d1 athlete striving to go to med school, thinking about having no time to workout is frightening haha
I feel you! I definitely still have time to exercise. I go probably 4-5 times a week and I have a classmate who goes every day! Lol. If it’s something you’re passionate about, you can definitely find time to do it
Hey Olivia! I’d say to complete the pre-reqs if you have already through a post-bacc program and take a couple of months to study for the MCAT. After that you will be in great shape to apply! And medical school’s really value nontraditional students and students who have other work experience. Especially suck meaningful work like you’re doing!
I hope you all enjoyed this video showing what medical school on zoom looks like! Honestly, when I don't have clinic responsibilities, I spend a lot of my days like this lol
I really like how you represent yourself in front of your classmates and how your professor called on you and you was ready to give him your answer.
Thank you so much!

Side note, there’s a basketball gym in the garage/shed!?!?!😱
I love it bro! Honored to provide some of that motivation! ✊🏽
Pre-made anki decks are so essential. Still using them as an intern in head and neck surgery.
Glad to hear that the Anki usage continues! I don’t think I’d know what to do otherwise lol

I definitely dread them (almost every day lol). I just got into the habit of doing them every day, but once they’re done I feel a lot better hahah
