    #harvest #wheatharvesting #farm #kansas #caseih #tractor
    In this video I am out in a wheat field south of Anthony Kansas with Paplow Harvesting as they custom harvest for a farm in the area. In the video you will see 5 Case IH 8250 combines with MacDon FD145 & 245 Flex Draper heads working on two different fields while two Case IH 340 tractors pulling an Elmers 1300 Haul Master Grain Cart & Brent 1395 Cart Keep the grain moving from the combines to the trucks that will haul the wheat to a local grain elevator.
    Paplow Harvesting is a custom harvesting company from Worthington Minnesota that follows the wheat harvest on the American Great Plains, They had their crew split up as they were also cutting wheat 2 hours away near Kingfisher Oklahoma.
    I filmed several different wheat harvest videos in Kansas and Oklahoma so stay tuned for several more videos from this area,

    Never thought it'd happen. Mike Less admitting that a non-Versatile tractor & grain cart "looks pretty good." Just teasing! Great video Mike! As we saw, the combine drivers have to run obstacle courses.

    Mike, you should've went to Conway Springs. That's where the farm that I work for was cutting, along with some ground around Viola and some ground south of Lake Afton.

    Another great video Mike! The Paplow's are good people, and run an excellent operation! I've been visiting with them every year since 2018, and it's always a pleasure to visit with them! Honored to have them as friends, and they also cut for my friends, in North Texas and Southern Oklahoma! Thank you for sharing Mike, and I look forward to seeing the next video!

      They’re 45’. I heard him say the heads were fd 145 and 245. The last two numbers are the width. It’s crazy how they keep getting bigger and bigger. 20 years ago we ran a 16’ and it’d take almost all day to harvest 60 acres lol. That’d be a warm up for the machines nowadays

    Great video Mike. I'm not interested in the amount of bushels, but can you give me an idea how many acres are in this field? It looks like it goes on quite a ways and just from experience I would hate to chase cattle around that field. Thanks for sharing.

    Mike, thanks for all of your excellent videos.
    Have you come across any 60 footer heads. I think that Honeybee are the only mfgs of 60 foot heads in N America-?
    They say that the wheat ripens an average of 20 miles a day going north.

      @@farmhandmike Thanks for your fast reply.
      The Australians are now running a fair number of 60 foot heads, fronts as they call them
      Midwest manufacturing which is west of Brisbane in Auz manufacture most of their 60 footers and Honeybee from Canada are now shipping some to Auz.

    Why do they drive as they want during the harvest instead of moving systematically through the field?

    • @farmhandmike
      @farmhandmike  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is terraces in the field and they have to follow those contours. They don't show up super good in this video but they are there.

    Why doesn't the owner of the land combine their own wheat?

    • @organic_colorado_bob___8838
      @organic_colorado_bob___8838 ปีที่แล้ว

      It requires too much work and equipment for some farmers to put forth.

      @Steiger550 ปีที่แล้ว

      Then you shouldn't be farming

    • @farmhandmike
      @farmhandmike  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No Robb, Lots of these farms are cattle farmers and graze cattle on this wheat over the winter. They pull the cattle off in march and harvest what grain they can but growing wheat for maximum grain yield is not as important as the cattle. With large acres of wheat they need to get it harvested in a short time and the custom harvester makes that happen. Maybe this won't work in your operation but works out just fine for others. Some of the farms do have their own combines but they also grow other crops besides wheat.
