dope vid. i'd add more hardfacing tbh, I usually see it done with a bit tighter patterns to keep the wear on the base metal down. if you're primarily using that buckets for big rocks though, your pattern should be alright. If not, I'd put like a + shape inside the diamonds you made. Though, thats up to you, and thats just my opinion. love your vid, (p.s. hows welding jobs in alaska?)
Looks good man! Don't worry your not doing anything wrong those rods are still good. The rod burning up half Way through a weld is normal. It's not because of the age it's because of the alloys in it. All hardfacing rods do that and other high alloy rods like inconel, Monel and some stainless rods do it too. When hardfacing I usually burn half of the rod then put it aside. later i turn my amps down and burn the pile of half rods.
Thanks for the comment. Now when I go in the shop without them, I feel like somethings missing, haha. My clothes already have holes in them, but at least they arn’t too greasy now

I gave up on stoody, switched to ranite 35 and it's been great.

Thats just life, to do one one thing you must frist do ten things, and none of them work the way they sould.
Hardface should sticku0 by making 2 beads on to of each other no 7018! My experience.
Stoody 31 or 35 I've had nothing but problems with the esab stuff ranite is so much better
