The construction crew is building an elaborate, cantilevered roof overhang for a garage. They are carefully aligning the roof rafters, even when the wall framing is uneven, using screws, shims, and boards to pull everything straight. To aid drainage, they are cutting a 3/4" slope on the top of the rafters. The overhang will extend 4.5 feet past the garage door, providing good protection from rain. The crew also has to carefully remove a concrete curb to make room for a new door. Despite challenges like uneven framing and material shortages, their attention to detail and problem-solving skills are evident as they construct this high-quality, sturdy roof system.

The 42 hour super cut of this project is going to fun fun fun
I mean I've watched every second of each release but a supercut is what got me watching many projects ago.
It’s going to be October 2030 before it’s done being edited lol
Haha Jamie will have bought and sold ten jeeps before the end of this beast
@@IIBundoAnd Erik will need help from NASA and Google for some extra storage and CPU grunt to render the final edit together!!!
42 hours for part 1 of the super cut.
Wow, Jaime did a really nice job of removing that concrete in the doorway!
With so many builder videos to watch on TH-cam, I've settled on just two .. Perkins Bro's and Jays Way .. Seriously the energy, and brotherhood goes beyond the work of building ..
Thank you for letting us build with you ..
Yup that's me
Only two you need although I'm slowly dipping my feet into Stud Pack.
Ray out there lookin like ZZ Top with the new shades
If those flat roofs are going to be EPDM Rubber or White TPO membranes, the roofer can install tapered insulation/cover board to create the slope. As a roofer, we like built in slopes, but if you have to cut boards to get it, the tapered insulation is much easier.
Pvc
Jamie: "What do you want from me?"
Erik: "Just counting. Counting would be real good"
Hilarious 🤣
Should get Jamie a sesame street count von count shirt.
@ 2:41, even the tape measure was in disbelief. 🤣
I really liked the way you got the fascia on and straight and level. It was fun to watch! I like to watch you getting things right! The way you make decisions is really a mixture of madcap and exactitude. How you solve problems is really striking!
Love the “Thanks for building with us!” from Jamie. 💪💪
Yes. Maybe see it from the team occasionally?
Man, I remember at the beginning of this series y'all were talking about how long the framing alone would take, and you were not kidding. 50 episodes in and there's still a whole nother floor to frame and roof! Loving it though, the craftsmanship that goes into making rock solid framing that helps the build later on is invaluable to see and document
This 76 year-old lady can’t begin to tell you how much I enjoy watching the construction. My daddy was a carpenter and so was my grandpa and my uncle and my older brother and it brings back such fun memories of going to their works sites.
78 year old woman still learning new stuff. My handyman groans sometimes
In my 30 years of building and renovating, the Perkins Builder Belt has been the most comfortable belt. Reaching for tools and hardware feels natural, and it didn't take long for muscle memory to kick in. The hammer sling is my favorite...
Well then, you have never seen “Occidental Leather” belts, you should look them up.
Awesome job on the roof guys! Jamie knocked it out of the park with that cut out!
You didn't even know you knew, but you knew, that's how much you know. - Jason to Eric
So deep, so intuitive. We are all so blessed to be amongst his greatness. #jaysway
You guys are hilarious....and smart all at the same time. I'm a project manager in commercial construction, and deal with drawing issues daily, almost hourly. You all cope with these issues so well, with some laughter mixed in. That's hard to do sometimes. I really enjoy your videos.
I've been wondering, are you planning to continue as a 5 man crew since Arlo left? Any plans to find a 6th?
@M104-q9y bro, I do be really missing Arli and his tips, bro
I personally am really hoping they use the space to keep taking on apprentices. Perkins is a fantastic crew to learn from, and we could certainly use many more young builders trained with Perkins ethics and skills
Best Lines of the of the video. Jamie: "It's got to hold the roofer and 4 of his best buds." Jason: "You didn't know what you knew but you knew it." Love the content. Happy Holiday fellas.
Finished watching the previous 3hr build video..And just in time for the new update of the current build. What a win.
Great stuff today, Perkins crew. Looking great
Appreciate you watching!
How did all of you guys meet each other? Have a special video on this. Your crew is awesome!
Ah. You guys are great. We got two (2!) "Thanks for building with us!" :)
BTW, it's really amazing to see how you quickly adjust your plans and innovate (as with Jamie (Jaime?) did with opening that door) to meet the needs of your client. Incidentally, I really enjoyed watching the latest compiled video (of Ramelle's house.) I watched the original build series but it was just as enjoyable to watch the whole build altogether. Watching them each way has its advantages. Thanks! Be sure to always let us know when these become available. I think I've missed a few. Now I need to go back and watch those.
Hello Perkins brothers and team. My name is Jaime and greetings from Chile. I work in IT but my hobby is carpentry and I have a small workshop where I entertain myself. I really enjoy your videos and I send you all my best regards. 😃😃😃
Who else stalks the playlist to watch the video prior to the notification? I can't get enough PBB and this build!
It’s usually in there a few hours early!
@@PerkinsBuilderBrothers your consistency is top notch as well. Fantastic work building this channel.
I do 😅
The garage rafters overhang was hilarious! 😂
Did you install some of them upside down? Put the 3/4 inch runoff on the bottom? Also, here a cantilever requires 2 feet in for each 1 foot out so you would need 8 feet in, and you have a little under 6.
@@hedunlapgood question. i’m not sure they messed it up but i can understand what you mean and it’s plausible
Another great video! Cool to see you working with other TH-camrs. RR is another of my favorites to watch.
Hey guys love the channel, I mention once too yall when you were building the last deck, anyway I build decks in Michigan, PT lumber suks, so I measure all the joists width, stack in 3-4 different piles then start from wide boards down to your short width boards, it helps a lot, still have to plane some sometimes but when u use composite deck boards or OSB, x-factor it will help with putting your rim joists up, hopefully this helps, keep rocking guys!
This build is really starting to take shape! It's really looking good!
I think you’re right about the cantilever. In my area, the building official accepted a 2:1 in vs out without an engineer. Meaning for a 4 foot cantilever, you would need 8’ attached to the joists inside.
Its the little things that make the difference 👍💯
We watch every episode. Thank you for sharing all the fun, tips, and knowledge. We love every bit of your content. I'm saving loot for a belt for sure. You all are amazing
Y'all should be really proud of yourselves building that house like the Amish build barns. They don't have cranes to help move wood around, it's mere strength of the team.
YES!! A NEW VIDEO! Was waiting for this
We appreciate you sticking with us!
@you’ll see me in the comments Sunday I’ll be waiting!
I LOVE this house! It is going to be AMAZING when you guys are done!
the autumn leaves are also getting more beautiful just as the house getting in shape. All forces on earth are in tune with you
I have watched many Perkins Brothers videos ( not just this series on this house ). I agree with all of the positive comments and praise from so many people. I would like to add that one of the things I like is that both bosses -- the brothers -- very often take on the most difficult and/or dangerous tasks themselves. They don't try to find someone else to do it. They just do it. Great leaders.
I would love to have these guy build a house for me. Talk about exceptional quality!
Go back to relaxing music I watch your videos to go to sleep it’s relaxing 🥹🤣😭 you guys make me laugh and lift my spirits , look forward to every upload !
Lmao i get a good laugh every time I watch this build & Jamie has an eagle eye it's as good as a string line !! Yal do awesome work because yal take pride in your trade !! That good to watch !! Everyone stay safe & have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY
Great video guys, greetings from the Philippines
Awesome! Thank you!
I've been watching Bushradical build simple small cabins by himself and I think wow I can do that but watching you guys build such a complex house with drawings blows my mind! I learn tons everytime I watch you guys.
We need a shirt with Jamie's face where one eye is squinting and the other has a laser beam shooting from it... "Laser Eye".
Wow Jamie, removing that concrete lip took some work. I would have been lazy and made it into a platform step on the inside and out 😅. Someone was telling you all to lay that flooring in the correct area so you could add that overhang later 😊 Thanks for letting us build with you ❤
THIS HOME IS LOOKING AMAZING~GREAT JOB YOU GUYS~LOVE YOUR SHOW 😁
I have such mad respect for your professional skills.
We appreciate it!
Hey guys, I made it!! The house is coming together!! Thanks again & KUTGW
I Love you guy's.....Thank's for the entertainment
i want to see RR buildings working with you guys
Pro Tip: When you're trying to straighten a wall, use a string line set off each end by about 1". Then, in the middle, push or pull the wall in until it is also 1".
I use this method on decks all the time. :)
Thanks Jamie .. you just reminded me I needed to order some Tub-o-towels!
Amazing attention to detail.
It's really nice to see how this is coming together.
Love the overhang over the roof. If I could ever build my dream home I would probably have just about a whole car port in front of the garage or at the very least a large enough overhang to block rain and give people cover when they walk out of the garage.
You've got folks with good aim for throwing and good hand-eye coordination for catching. I'm a bit envious. I can't throw or catch worth crap. LOL.
I've used regular Houzz and it was what helped me plan a bathroom and laundry room reno for my house. I got some great suggestions from other users.
"Get some smaller roofers!" LOL. My first thought was to hire jockeys as roofers. They tend to be lighter weight. :P
Sucks that all of those diagonal braces had to be removed but hopefully they will still be used for something.
"You didn't even know you knew, you knew so much" LOL. Jason cracks me up.
Question: I wear like XL pants but 2XL to 3XL shirts but I have very narrow shoulders, what size of the belts with suspenders do you think would be best? How adjustable are the straps horizontally and vertically? (I'm also only 5'5" but have a shorter-than-normal torso).
Great construction by the Perkins crew as always its fun to see the team work and banter
Siete bravissimi complimenti davvero 🎉❤😮😊
Such fun watching these while I work my IT job... you guys are awesome
as long as you guys keep Jason Happy, everything will progress fine,
It actually feels like I build with You Guys. Great Channel.
On the next video in this series I want to see Erik wearing those safety glasses with a red & white striped wool beanie with a red & white striped shirt 😁. Loving this series, this home is coming along amazingly
Props to Jamie. Go dood 👍
Been watching the channel for years and this is the first recollection I have of seeing Ray without a hat.
Given how high the garage roof is, I’m not sure a 4’ overhang will keep rain out. And Eric, glad to see you using earmuffs rather than, or in addition to, those earplugs!
Great video Erik. If I had an extra $150 laying around I’d definitely buy one. Lol. Winter layoffs suck tho
Love the crew. Real teamwork.
Next time for flat roofs buy furring strips, they are specially made for flat roofs, that will avoid the extra work you had to do with the cantilever roof- just check out furring strips!
I think Allen is Phillips brother
Haha🤣
And Robert-San in Japanese
Very cool cantilever. That’ll look awesome. Well done guys.
24:30 Pause of the year bro! 😂😂
Another amazing video - house looking awesome
The modern mountain getaway was 50 episodes. Just got 50 episodes on this build and not done with framing. What a massive project!
Hello from Ireland, really enjoying this build, great work as always :)
7:30 that's the money shot right there. Trees and building look good too.
Suggest your client to add green roof on the small horisontal roofs. So modern and cool looking.
I kid you not! This is getting exciting! (I would love to see a video of the tossing/catching and maybe some tossing/missing at the end.)
Make sure to add some soffit lights in that overhang and it would look amazing at night
didnt know ray was a type 1 diabetic , respect to him grafting away with diabetes,, been waiting months for my libra device fitted but uk doctors drag there heels
Way to go
Jay certainly isn’t lacking for strength, man’s a beast 💪
I absolutely no need for a tool belt, but damn I really want one XD Love the channel, love this series! Best vids on TH-cam!
The height differences on those rafters almost looks like you alternated which side got cut with the angle. Wild!
Looks great!
There was a build where you estimated how many screws and nails were used. I need that on this build. And you STILL have a floor to build. HOLY MOLY!!!
Luv those belts!!
Nice touch that Jamie at the end of the video, there. Happy Thanksgiving.
I started watching you guys when I was in high school during shop class in 2018/2019
Milwaukee should sponsor you with one of their track saws! Just saying you would get a ton of use out of it. It would be a hell of a promo for them or makita.
Belt ordered. Thanks for all the great content!
Sweet catch Eric
"Whaddya want from me?"
"Counting."
"Can't do it."
You guys are THE BEST.
I like the harness especially the phone holster. But I need it to be aproved for fall protection.
You guys are my new This Old House.
Thanks for the video!
William G. Allen also patented a method of cold-forming screw heads around a hexagonal die (U.S. patent 960,244). Published advertisements for the "Allen safety set screw" by the Allen Manufacturing Company of Hartford, Connecticut, exist from 1910
Love this build!
Could you do a quick demonstration on setting up the new perkins tool belt? I had the older version but sent it back because I couldn't figure out how to get the pouches secured the right way. Thanks. Really enjoying your videos.
Eric"s new nickname The Construction Professor
Nice big head todd and the monsters reference!
Grreat Videos Thank you Guys
Referencing Big Head Todd and the Monsters was impressive.
Regarding the awesome tool belt. Can you guys create a short video showing how to properly set it up to fit good? Thx!
Shirt IDEA. Jason saying “where’s the crane”. I think he says this every build for anything heavy. Poor Erik has to deliver the bad news most of the time. “Sorry bud!, not coming today”. So funny!
Tool belt is really good
You guys are the best
