    hi I recently purchased this quad and I am very disappointed. when I first used it I pulled the throttle up and the quad went up then flew sideways. I tried again but this time it crashed into a tree. because it was going sideways. then once it fell out of the tree I retried the quad and only 3 rotors would work. I adjusted the pitch then 2 rotors worked. then again and this time all four worked but only for half a minute. I tried changing the channels but only 3 rotors worked. IS their anyway to fix this problem? I really want this quad to work and if it's broken I just blew 100 bucks

    Hello im thinking of buying either the tarantula x6 with the 2.0MP 720p Camera and mount or a Wl toys v262 quad and just buy the wl toys camera to go along i was wonder if u could help me decide which one to get i like high flying and thought since i do that id like to get some video which quad do you think would be best for that cause?

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Creed Bruuh The Tarantula X6 definitely. Excellent range (300 m X6 vs. 100 m V262), great headless mode, and easy motor changes (plug-in motors, no soldering required) if needed. But be careful, with the X6 300m range, you can easily bust the FAA's altitude restriction of 400 feet (please don't make it hard for other modelers).

    In one of your other videos the H8C in high rate was pretty snappy; how about this one? It looks like it could possibly be quick and responsive..

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wobble Copter This is a good flier IMO. But it doesn't have the power of the H8C. Keep in mind that the H8C gets that power by sending a lot of voltage to the motors. That's why the H8C has motor failure issue. This one on the other hand does not have that problem. But it does have dropout issues. So you need to watch closely, and be ready to manually rebind if needed.

  • @chelcie3
    @chelcie3 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Question: I got one from Gearbest and one of the motors won't turn. They claim they're sending me a new motor. Any idea how difficult it is to swap out a motor on these?

    Nice quad. Have you thought of trying to do a range mod to improve the distance your getting on this one? It looks like it already has a decent antenna.

    • @hawk_202
      @hawk_202 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      dheller777 the antenna you see is just a dummy the actual antenna goes up the carry handle of the transmitter.
      I only get about 50m range and actually ended up damaging the quad because it did not re bind to the transmitter considering the price I wouldn't recommend it at all.

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      hawk 4 reason Yeah, I've had that problem too (not rebinding). You have to turn the transmitter off and on then rebind. But it shouldn't be like that. Did you try any antenna mods to see if that helped?

    Hello ,
    I have a little question : how do I activate headless mode?
    I mean do I have to set it up or the front will always be the front of the starting position?
    And last question , in order to initiate one key return to Home feature I have to turn on headless mode first , right ?
    Thanks.

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      יובל כהן The front at takeoff will always be the front when headless mode is activated. And no you don't have to activate headless for one key fly back. But it does not return to home. It merely automatically activates headless mode and then flies the reverse direction of the set headless mode heading.

    • @traxxas246
      @traxxas246 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks,
      How do i set up the headless mode in the first flight,i have tried what you said but it kind of pointed the front whereever it wanted to but definitely not the front when i took off...
      I will be happy if you help me.
      thanks.

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      יובל כהן 1) Always turn the quadcopter on first, and place it on a level surface pointed in the desired reference direction for headless mode.
      2) With the quadcopter undisturbed on the ground, wait a few seconds for the quadcopter's gyros to initialize, and then turn on and bind your transmitter to the quadcopter.
      Your headless mode direction should now be set, and can be activated in flight when needed.

      +Dominique Theriault Place the quadcopter on a flat and level surface.
      Bind it to the transmitter.
      Set the transmitter to its highest rate (100%).
      Move and hold both sticks to their lower left corners until the quadcopter's lights blink.
      Let go of the sticks and try flying.

  • @traxxas246
    @traxxas246 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you ,
    Now I am a little bit confused.
    The headless mode switch is in the top left down button or top right down button ?
    Because I pressed the top left down button and now I realized it's written function switchover on it so I might just pressed the wrong button .

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      יובל כהן The previous description is how to always initialize your quadcopter before flight. The gyros are initialized and the headless heading is remembered then. Follow those steps as described before even taking off. To activate headless mode once you're in the air, just press the lower right button on the panel of your controller.

    I theory, to correctly test this you can't just fly it out and push the button. When the average person loses control, its because they have yawed and lost orientation of the quad! So to test it you must fly out , then yaw to react out lose orientation. Then activate it and see where it goes. The little green X9 by Bayang Toys has the best one key return I have seen in these toy quads! I say that because if its facing the side or towards the person, it turns its back to you! And thus , you can regain orientation as it slowly drifts back ;)

    Mr Quadcopter 101. I just subscribed to your channel and have watched a load of your quad videos as a buying guide on which to buy. I settled on buying the JJRC H12C-5 with 5 MP camera. The quad arrived today today. So i took the camera off and put the landing gear and prop guards on. However there is a problem i don't know how to solve.
    In my kitchen I'm having a problem trying to get it to hover stably in the air. No matter what I do with the trims it won't hover stably. What am i doing wrong? Do i need a bit more space on my room? I'm flying in like a 3x3 feet or 4 feet square with a door behind me a fridge, an oval table to the left with a table top cover and about 4-5 feet in front the front door with a Cloths liner. Could these be factoring in on making my drone unstable and do i need a more open space?
    I watched a video of the H11D from Dustin Dunhill's channel and when he take it into his living room it hovers much more stably than mine when he takes his hands off the sticks. No matter what i do with the trims I always need to keep moving the right stick left, forward or back. I can't take my finger off the right stick having to constantly give it inputs.. So I'm kinda wondering why the trim isn't working? I've tried to fine tune this.
    My yaw rates or speed is at 50%. I had it at 10. Will the yaw rates make a different for when it hovers itself with the trims? Kinda upsetting me a bit as i hope there is nothing wrong with my model. Also could i ask you what is the default yaw rates or stepless speed change? I appreciate it if you could help me fix it. Are you on line app on android? I was kinda hoping you might be able to help. Thanks again.

      @Quadcopter101  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try calibrating the gyros.
      1) Turn on the quadcopter and place it on a flat and level surface.
      2) Turn on and bind the transmitter. Center all trim tabs. Set the yaw rates to 80% or 100% (you can turn it back later)
      3) Leaving the quadcopter undisturbed, move and hold both control sticks to their lower left corners. Hold them there until the quadcopter's lights blink. If they don't blink, then try lower right corners, lower outboard, or lower inboard until you notice the lights blink.
      4) Let go of the sticks and try flying.

      I read the part in the drone manual where it said "Preparation before taking off." Then the only other instructions i followed was the part in the transmitter manual where it says "Assembled remote control and frequency modulation." Basically to bind it right.
      I could not find anywhere in both manuals where it mentions calibration? or am i blind? There is no where in either manual which says calibration. Thanks Mr Quadcopter 101. I'll try this tomorrow and get back to you. Thanks for your kind and swift reply. Btw you now have one extra UK subscriber from Leeds way North England.
      I also bought a second drone at the same time as this H12C-5, it's Symas latest 2016 version X5UW with 3MP Camera and FPV. I'm going to set that up tomorrow too. I have a battery charger with 1250mah 25c 3.7v ordered on Amazon.
      I'm hoping that the new batteries will give more extended flight time over the stock 750mah that came with it. I have a charger and extra batteries ordered for the X5UW aswell arriving soon. Once again. Thanks. I'll update you tomorrow. :)

      i just re read the copter manual again and realized the calibration is mentioned but not at all clearly labeled as calibration. It's on the 2nd page under the "Recharge the battery if the Quad copter."
      "When the quad copter suspending and deviate too much, the player can re-adjust the median size to improve the quad copter's suspending position. The operation way is to put the copter on a level floor, then slightly press the 3d mode which on the remote controls upper-right side, then simultaneously push the two operation lever to the bottom left for 3 seconds, and release the operation lever after the indication light of the quad is flashing, wait about 2 seconds until the indication light turn into constant on, the re-adjusting of the medium size is finished."
      I gotta say its worded in such a way as a note at the bottom of the page and greyed out and is not at all made clear or titled calibration. I think this must be clearly missed by a lot of first time beginners.

      Michael Myers The pilot is registered, NOT the quadcopter. You receive a single registration number, which you can use with all of your heavier quadcopters. You can simply print this number on several slips of paper, and insert it in the battery bay of all your heavy quadcopters, and your covered. The idea is, if your big quadcopter flies away and does something bad, the FAA will find that number and know who's door to come knocking on.

    My H8C regains signal when I'm at altitude. The real problem is the motors. Lost mine in a neighbors tree 25 feet up.. Yes, I did get it down. None of these quads will go 300 meters period.. You need to get into the hobby grade transmitters/quads to do that. Quads with a compass will do real headless mode. I may show a video of that with my 3D X6.

    The body looks the same as the F181 but the remote is completely different, the F181 also says it has a range of 300 metres but I have yet to test it, iv had it out the back (small field) and got good hight with it, being winter the weather hasn't been good enough to take it down the road to a bigger field, i live in Scotland so that should say it all really, iv subscribe to your channel and watch your video's every day, I'll let you know how I get on with testing the distance when weather permits, i'll be looking to buy a drone around the £500 range ($600) any suggestions, (one with good range) keep the videos coming.

      charger7022 The H8C is great if you're careful and use it for video only. If you fly aggressively with it, that 7.4V of power can burn out those little motors. This one (the H12), the jury is still out for me. I need further flights with it, but so far it's good. It handled the wind well, and banked turning is nice and smooth. One troubling thing though is the dropouts I describe at 100m range that require rebinding to reacquire the transmitter. I'm going to try flying upwind and high on a windy day to try various rebinding techniques when transmission contact is lost.

    • @MrPolymers
      @MrPolymers 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      charger7022 Stay away from the H8C my friend. I have two of them and have gone through 12 motors. Forget the cool off between flights. It's the 7.4 volt system the motors can't handle..

      +Danny Buruma The quadcopter uses an App which you must download from Google Play or the App store. Your instructions should include a link to it, or the name of the app that it uses. Once installed, turn on your quadcopter. Then open your phone's settings section, and open the WiFi settings. Look for your quadcopter in the list of available WiFi stations and select/connect to it. Then open the app. Video from the quadcopter should now be viewable on the app. You can also record this video to your phone by selectiing the record button as one of the upper menu buttons of the app.

    It was a great vid. Now I kinda now something must be wrong with mine, and probably its the remotec control that is faulty. YOu also going further than 30meters without loosing contact with the quad. And to be honest, I havent seen a vid on this quad that dont handle that range. But mine quad is not feeling so great at the moment. I did go in and look under the shell, and thought it could be the antenna that was under all those cables. Thought maybe it was a magneting field issue, so I pulled up the antenna and put it over the cables. And well no change when I was out flying that day. The only thing I did was do fly forward, and exactly at 30 meters, I lost control and contact and it crashed... again. And this time, the backleft arm actually almost fell off. So no more flying for this quad. I It was that high that I flew either so even if I knew the shut on/off transmitter routine, I dont think I would had the time to succed retaining control again. But now when you say it, I kinda new it was like that, Because when it crashed before, I only had to do that thing without shut the quad on/off.
    Well, its a pity it broke down like it did. Had it for two weeks or so. Was in a conflict with the seller of the quad (Deal Extreme) that didnt want to take it back, but now they accepted that. Deal Extreme blamed it on me, and said I should fly it longer than 80cm as their webpage says. But now they accepted defective item policy. But you right. Its a great flyer, well at least within 30 meters. The funny thing is that you even kinda accepted the return home function. Something I Still havent gotten to work. :-)

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jerry Berglund The performance will vary depending on where you fly. I strongly suspect that WiFi interference causes these dropouts. So if you fly over residential areas, or near apartment buildings, watch out. But for me, I'm flying in the desert with almost no WiFi interference. So I'm getting ranges out past 100m. But when I do lose contact, I need to rebind it by turning the transmitter off/on, and moving the throttle up/down. It's a shame, because this is a great flier, and its video is not that bad.

    • @Dragontrumpetare
      @Dragontrumpetare 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well I thought it could be WiFi -signals. Buy I live in a kinda small community in Sweden and when i checked for WiFi-signals i might find 2 or three. But i usually fly further from my place and there I haven't reach any WiFi at all, and it still can't reach over 30 meters. Is bad because i did like to fly it :-)

      The RCAddict No, when you hit the one key return on mine, it automatically enters headless mode, then flies the reverse direction of the base heading (same as entering headless mode, then pulling back on the pitch stick). This is OK if the quadcopter was in front of you up-range of the base heading, but not if it was behind you down-range of the base heading/

    You can only put so much lipstick on this pig. It flies well, within it's limited range, which is nowhere near even 100 meters, much less 300. It looks really cool, but doesn't do anything near what they promise in the ad. Manual re-binding for vertical flights isn't acceptable. Most of my dropouts have been during horizontal flight, and it went straight to the ground. RTH...try taking it straight out, then change the orientation to left or right, then hit RTH. Mine flies straight backwards, which isn't towards home.
    The camera is good, especially when it's crashed. I can see all the little insects in the grass clear as day. I have, do, and will continue to look forward to your flights, but this bird isn't up to par. If it did 50% of what they say, it could be marginally acceptable. No beginner should purchase this thinking that they'll get far out and not have to be concerned about orientation.
    I've had a Tarantula for about two weeks, and when I do eventually fly it, I think that it'll do what's advertised (based on your reviews). It came in a JJRC X6 box, so I'm not sure.

      Ninkone I have two JJRC H8C's and it does nothing but lose motors. Lost another two tonight in the same quad. My advice, stay away from these JJRC's. I've had much better luck with my V262 granted it does go through motors too. I do like the size of these for around my neighborhood flights, but these just are not reliable.

    Sorry man but your binding test is bullshit. You are just turning your transmitter off, it is a must that you have to arm it again. That's not the way of testing connection problems.
