  • The WLToys V686G is a relatively low cost, good quality 5.8Ghz FPV flier. But the best feature is the great video quality from its 720p camera. You can get it here on sale shrsl.com/?~8lw6

    I have a question - It seems my camera blue light (on my V686G) goes out (or dims to the point where you cant see it) the minute you throttle up the quadcopter. A replacement Camera costs $40 -- Is there any way to check this before I buy it? I would hate to waste $40 when it's the quadcopter -- ALSO -- I don't use the FVP very much -- can I use the monitor for something else as long as it's transmitting 5.4? -- AND -- since I have a MOBIUS camera - can you name a low cost quad that can carry that camera? - It doesn't make sense to FIX the camera for $40 when I can buy a camera carrying quad for $40 --

    Thank you for a very interesting and entertaining video. Today my first RC helicopter arrived, a WLToys V911. After spending all day charging batteries, flying, charging again, flying, and charging, I can safely say I am very impressed with the quality for how little it cost. My dad has a DJI Mavic, which is absolutely brilliant (and extremely expensive), and after seeing on the website that WLToys make drones, I have decided I may just buy one. If you ever want to try helicopters, try the V911 heli. They cost about $20 without battery or transmitter, (or $50 with) and are great fun, slightly challenging, but an excellent product for very little money, and trust me, they can take a beating! Nice video!
    Edit: Is there some way of mounting a GoPro to the underside of this drone?

      Quadcopter 101 i ordered a v686g from Tmart on friday. As of now my order has not been shipped and was placed on hold. I contacted them via their website messenger. They said they require me to send them a photo of my credit card to verify the security. I find this hard to believe that a company would ask for photo of your credit card. Against my better judgement i sent it and when asked i can expect to recieve my item they couldnt answer me. So not only are they holding up my money, they asked for a photo of my credit card and now cant give me a date as to when it will be shipped. At this point i said to cancel the order and refund me. Just wondering my options are if they dont refund me.

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      JP Videos Contact your credit card company, tell them what happened and also tell them to cancel the order. Purchase from a different vendor if still interested in this product. By the way, I recommend Paypal for China purchases. Less chance of shady things happening, and If you're not satisfied with your order, they'll back you up.

    Hello I desperately need help with my V686G transmitter. I recently got a new transmitter because I put a new board in the V686g copter and it no longer would work with the transmitter which also had backward controls that I originally received with the copoter when new. This caused a few fly away's and hared crashes, but now I have the original transmitter that won't bind with the copter. The new transmitter does great and the controls are what we are typically used to which I love. My question is ,is there any way a lay person can fix this controller to have US style action .I suspect that is why it is not binding with the copter since I changed the board in the quad. Again the new transmitter and it's controls work great .I don't want to order the China style board again just to make this transmitter work. I can't imagine why they make the two different styles of transmitter boards. This also may be a heads up for others with a similar problem. I now have a much easier time flying it and it works perfectly.. Sorry for being so long winded, Thanks Rob

    Hi All,
    On my 686g "Return to home" function is activated by holding Lights button for 2 secs - the middle button on the right side - this is what the instruction manual says as well.
    Have tested it outdoor at low and high altitude - it is working perfectly forcing the drone to come closely, so I can take control.
    We all know there is no GPS, but I think the strength of the signal takes control searching for the transmitter - i.e. you.

    Hello again Quadcopter101! :)
    Which one do you prefer between this and HT F802D for FPV?
    What about in terms of stability and battery life for the controller and the quadcopter itself?
    I wanna buy one or the other and haven't made up my mind yet.
    All the best & greetings from Romania!

    • @Quadcopter101

      Sabin Teodor Felea It depends. I feel that this quadcopter is more appropriate for intermediate fliers with some quadcopter flying experience who wish to try FPV as their next step. The more stable F802D is an ideal quadcopter for beginner fliers to learn to fly with, and also get a taste of FPV flying.

Remember to also turn the camera off when finished by pressing the video button one more time before turning off the quadcopter. If you don't do this, the video will not write to the memory card. The video button may be seen at 6:52 in the above video.

    Quick question guys.
    The fpv monitor I have for my v686 is acting odd, it's new, but the battery gauge never shows full regardless of charging source and duration of charging, after 20 mins the low power warning comes on in the middle of the screen. However. The screen continues to function for at least another 40 minutes before dying. Any theories, and/or solutions to this?

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's common for all of these screens. The screen power warning is inaccurate (actually worthless). And the charger never shows full charge. When I fly mine, I top it off charge before heading out for about a half hour.

    I was going to order 5x v636 batteries with charging cable from bang good for like 20 bucks but I read on rc groups forum that they won't fit this quad but heard you say you're using them that's good to know. Are they a tighter fit?

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TimmyV They fit snug but OK (not forced). I was using one in the second flight as I didn't have time to recharge my stock battery after the first flight. But the quadcopter did not seem to fly as nimbly as it did with the stock battery (notice my several unintended "landings"). Am thinking that the V636 battery may be slightly lower "C rating", thus not able to supply as much constant amperage as the stock battery. Or my V636 battery may be just a little too old and failing in health (it is a year old :)

  • @yazgersfarm6192
    @yazgersfarm6192 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I own this one (thanks to you QC101) and really like it... however - I THOUGHT I broke 2 motors after the first flight. What happened was I had a hard landing and the gears separated (because the motor was able to slide down in the seat) and the gears separated. Easily fixed by pushing the motor back up...
    NOT good in much wind but a fun flyer nonetheless - Video is good on this one.

    Think it is good value for 110$ and the monitor has its own lipo, not like some systems that feed of the TX
    Just ordered 1 through your link, with extra lipo's and spare motors.
    It specifies 150 meter rang on the TX I think or is that on the FPV.
    I wonder if this FPV will work with the Shark FPV goggels

    If you live in the USA, GearBest's US warehouse has some pretty good deals going on quadcopters for Halloween. One is the V686G with free shipping for $76! You should also receive the products somewhat quickly when ordering from their US warehouse. And here are their Halloween quadcopter specials shrsl.com/?~a4y4

      +Steve RC You did better buying Amazon, at lest you will receive it. I did Gearbest $76 deal and ordered a MJX X600 with extra batts/motors for both, well over a week later and they were still processing the order, never sent it, and the order was coming from their US warehouse?! I cancelled and got refund, Ordered from Tiny deal and ebay at least I have some recourse and feedback system if there's a problem. Funniest thing is I ordered from Tinydeal Chine warehouse also a couple days later than Gearbest and received their order inside of a week. You live, you learn. Just like R/C, some will be crap and some are awesome.

      +wild300zx Thanks for the reply Wild. I've learned so much from other hobbyists such as you and on these forums. So far, I've been hearing a lot of negs on GB. I did some research on Tmart before trying them and found it was "swear at" or "swear by", nothing in the middle. Mine was "swear at" so I'm done with those nimrods.
      I've had good luck with Banggood, [BG], even with their warranty dept. I received some advice here, BG will honor you just have to stay on them.
      I've not tried Ebay yet, nor HobbyKing, [HK]. Been meaning to try HK with a small order of LiPos, they have smokin' prices. Their shipping costs "arm & leg" unless it's from a USA warehouse and even then it's still high. IDK Wild, on a $40 or so order, I've got minimal exposure.
      Anyway, thx again and I'd appreciate your future shares and experiences, we gotta stick together man!

    just to be helpful , when you do quads with FPV you should bring it down closer to the ground with objects near it so we can see how well the or wide of camera angle , flying way up does no good for this and most FPV's are flown lower and between walls windows and trees. it helps us decide which ones will work

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      iam4god2day I am a total neophyte regarding FPV flying. But yes, in future videos I will try to keep it closer to the ground.

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ragitysdad It's still kind of new. But parts will soon be available as this seems to be quickly becoming a popular quadcopter. In the meantime, these should work, but will give somewhat shorter flight time. www.ebay.com/itm/2pcs-600mAh-3-7V-JST-Plug-Lipo-Battery-For-RC-SYMA-S032G-WLtoy-V959-Helicopter-/371211726169

    when you charge the fpv screen, is the light on the charger meant to stay on?
    i also have another problem. when i connect the antenna andthe camera flashes blue and i turn on bothe the quadcopter and transmitter and iturn on the screen with the antenna, nothing comes up, not even a 'no signal', i have charged it for 2-3 hours and i am quite worried as the fpv is a major reason as to why i bought it. any help will be appreciated.

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      If power is going to both the camera and the screen, It should automatically connect to the screen once the screen is turned on. If not, something is wrong. Recommend making a short TH-cam video to show to your vendor's customer service (helps overcome the language barrier).

      marc tingley Look at the video from 3.00 minutes in.
      He quickly describes each button.
      (You have 4 modes of responsiveness. the 3 buttons in a row (left side) give you 40%, 60%, 80% control. The right side top button is 100% The next button down on right side switches on/off the led's on the quadcopter. The bottom button right side takes still photo. The top left button - extreme top left button - switched video on/off.
      Something like that anyhow.

    I'd love to see more of the transmitter screen - how well it displays, what is the lag (delay) and so on. I'm considering and low cost FPV as a step between Syma X11c + Syma X5SC that I've ordered recently to learn how to fly and the DJ Phantom 3 as my final destionation (maybe) :)

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Martin The Orange The lag is not too bad, but the screen is hard to see in full daylight. But its camera is much better than the X11c and X5SC. Here are some more demo flights

    You should notice, that the one key return function only works in Headlessmode. And to bring the Drone in a correct Headlessmode you have to bring the Drone and the Controller in the same Position. Usually before you begin to flight.

    • @Quadcopter101
      @Quadcopter101  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Notice the date on this video. This was one of the first quadcopters to incorporate "One Key Return". At the time, nobody knew what that meant, or how it worked. It was assumed that it would bring the quadcopter back home no matter where it was flying. Now most know that it merely does the same thing as pulling back on the pitch stick while the quadcopter is in headless mode. It's not really a return to home.

    Actually, "The One Key Return" works really well. It's not a "One Key To Home" which is much different and found on more expensive quads. To use the former, (which this quad has) make sure the butt of the drone is lined up to you as if just taking off and as close as possible in the same direction, and then hit the button and it will backup straight to your location. The later, uses GPS (not on this quad) so the quad will return pretty close to it's actual take off no matter which direction it's facing.
