EVERY time I hear this song , it brings me back to how the 70's felt, smelled, looked like, and what the world was like for a child back then. The MTM show must've been on around my bedtime, I remember hearing the theme song from my bedroom while my parents were watching it in the living room. I remember falling asleep to this song a few times and just loving it! I have it in my playlist and listen to it in my car when I feel like being nostalgic. As many times as I listen, Ii can always get that feeling back. Thank you Sonny Curtis for creating a song that brings me back every time!
Sounded perfect even with an acoustic guitar, I grew up watching the Mary Tyler Moore show during my youth..That is the perfect written song. If Mary Tyler Moore can do it, we can do it too.
everything about that show was magic and full of love, including of course this song, mary was indeed a magical person who could turn the world on with her smile.
I am SO GLAD I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s we had the BEST OF TIMES IN AMERICA ... I cry thinking how bad I want to do it all over again .. it was the best years of our life’s
Awesome. I loved that show so much and had such a crush on Mary when I was a young boy that I'm still a Minnesota Vikings fan all these years later. This was a time when great shows had great theme songs and this is one of the all time best.
“…That sexy look will do wonders for you..” has to be one of the best lyrics ever! Besides, the opening one, of course. It Just slides right into that second verse. Brilliant!?!? ❤
@@hollyfanatic8686 This is an edited version of the song. The original version had what was used during the early episodes and a slow take of what he has here. It was released on the Ovation record label in 1970, and the album version was around 5:30 long.
I think this song is great and Sonny is a fantastic song writer, how wonderful to be apart of Mary's show, blessings, many stars for a spectacular song***************************"s
Wow, this performance by the authentic song writer Sonny Curtiss is phenomenal and historic. He was such a talented person and this song made him World famous. RIP Sonny you were a winner and your music will live on in infamy. Mary Tyler Moore and you both are now angels in Heaven looking down on all of us. Thanks for making our World a little brighter with your gifted talents , the both of you.
You are an American icon right up there with MTM and highly respected ! Your song and her show means so mush to millions of a time that was just so much better and I would run back any time if I could ... Thank you for being a part of American history
Once Upon A Special Time in Life & Humanity... Timeless Song - Well Done Here / Sharing with [ Ms. Angelina Jordan & Family ] Special Other's!!! Thank UUU / God Bless Everyone on Mother Earth... "Happy Wednesday in May 3, 2023 / Happy Sunny Smiles" Sincerely DD. Ps. Fantastic Song
Visited the MTM statue yesterday--the Dayton's name is back on the store where the statue stands (she's been moved outdoors again). Got to visit the statue every time I'm downtown Mpls.
has, always, loved the song. It's superb, to see this. When I was a country deejay, in 1980, got to play, many times, another Sonny Curtis masterpiece: "The Real Buddy Holly Story." When I saw the 45, I, instantly, recognise the name. When I played the song, I couldn't believe it was the same singer. He sounded SO different. Instantly, though, loved THAT song, also.
I came across Mr Curtis in a London club in the 70's. The Crickets were the guest band. It was early afternoon in the club which was empty at the time and I spotted a solitary figure stood at the bar. It was Sonny Curtis. I was allowed in the club at any time being a friend of the resident band. I could hardly miss an opportunity to meet a musical legend so I sidled up to him and said hello. I gushed like an adolescent schoolgirl saying how much I enjoyed his music and telling him he was a musical legend and a founder member of rock and roll along with Buddy Holly and it was a pleasure to meet him...He completely blanked me and turned away. It taught me a hard lesson though, never meet your heroes, it's likely to disappoint.
I loved this show. I was in my after 10 yrs old and early teens. Tweens? Anyway, classic. Those days were far different than the days we live in now. I think that's why baby boomers are more grounded. We were raised in a different time.
😁Wow! 2019' I looked forward to seeing this sitcom on Tv📺, It was the Melody, Tone, Lyrics and Inspiring Vocals of (Sonny) that captivated my tiny ears👏👏👏👏👏, just knowing (2019) whom the artist is and Great choice of Agent & Producer decision 👍of The Mary Tyler Moore show!!💕 This song is One of many Classic Tv Theme Songs!! Thanks for Sharing!👍
Love you, Sonny, m'man! I'm so very happy to see you receive such recognition for this and your many other successes... "I Fought the Law".... "The Real Buddy Holly Story"...
I enjoyed the show Luved Mary! But I had to be front in front of the tv. as soon as the way too short theme song came on. Kids have no idea today what things were like back then.
I grew up in Texas and never associated this theme to country. Back then it sounded like some campy 70s music. Now that I'm older and have lost a lot of my southern twang his voice on the original recording sounds so country.
Wow he sounds incredible 50 years after he recorded it. Beautiful song and uplifting lyrics
Unbelievable!! He sounds great
A memory of Buddy
This song should be played everyday for everyone to hear to start their day. ☺
So true!!♡
It gives me hope.
I have it set as my wake up alarm on my phone.
@@laurathegr8 I love that! What a great idea!
This song is nothing short of ICONIC

Throwing my beret up in the air in appreciation!
My mom was born in 1938 and could’ve been a Mary Tyler Moore stand in. Her show, and this song always reminds me of her. She passed in 2010 of cancer.
Oh, I am so sorry 💔
Definitely my favorite TV theme song!!! Thank God they went to him. Thanks, Sonny!
Had the privilege to hear Sonny sing this when the Crickets were opening the shows for Waylon Jennings. I think that was in 82.
Sounded perfect even with an acoustic guitar, I grew up watching the Mary Tyler Moore show during my youth..That is the perfect written song. If Mary Tyler Moore can do it, we can do it too.
Mary Tyler Moore was absolutely adorable.
everything about that show was magic and full of love, including of course this song, mary was indeed a magical person who could turn the world on with her smile.

Still flawless. What a beautiful voice.
“…That sexy look will do wonders for you..” has to be one of the best lyrics ever! Besides, the opening one, of course.
It Just slides right into that second verse. Brilliant!?!? ❤
First time I heard it all the way through. Wonderful.
They should have him sing the full version on the next Emmy show as a tribute to Mary.
Steven Patrick Stone great idea

So yes !!!
Such a great idea!!
I'm tearing up just thinking about it.
@@liz326522 Or at the next TV Hall of Fame ceremony regarding Mary.

I’m an emotionally strong man but this song stirs my emotions and brings a tear.
It reminds me so many beautiful moments in the days of Mary Tyler Moore... Thanks Sonny Curtis for this pleasant musical tune!
Wish Mary Taylor Moore get to see this video and see Sonny Curtis. Goodbye, Mary Taylor Moore.

Thanks Sonny, one of the most recognisable tunes in television
I am proud to call him my friend!
Could listen to him all day😊
Sonny was one of the original Crickets with Buddy Holly. A very talented song writer from Meadow, Texas.
Thank you so much for this performance of the upbeat MTM Show theme song; it 'fits' so well with what was a much more optimistic time.
That was just perfect.
That was awesome!
A terrific singer and songwriter, very underrated.

I had to chuckle, when he sings "Love is all around, no need to waste it" at 2:12 the kid is dumping ketchup onto his plate. LOL
Awesome! Brings me back over 50 years. One of the best TV theme songs.
I love this! That song so inspired me as a child.

That opening riff is deep
Even if the show was not something a person enjoyed, the theme song is one of the best things to come out of it. RIP Mary but thanks for the memories.
I enjoyed the show Luved Mary! But I had to be front in front of the tv. as soon as the way too short theme song came on. Kids have no idea today what things were like back then.
