When it comes to Porsche vehicles, it’s the smallest things that are the hardest. I spent 3 months of weekends trying to repair the sun shade motors in my Cayenne. One of the most frustrating things I’ve ever done. After multiple unique torx bits, brass gears, one new sun shade motor (because I broke it) and a lot of cussing, I got them both fixed. To date, it’s the repair I’m most proud of. 😊
Looking so much better, but I would try to refresh the hand brake somehow.

Not sure what you want to do with the seats, but a cool idea would be to get the Porsche emblem embossed on the headrests and maybe even getting the centers in houndstooth.
Those “fake window” buttons are where the heated seat switch would be for cars optioned with those upgraded seats. That is a really nice center console upgrade, I will have to look into that!
Depends on which model. On a 996 Cab, the rear window switches do go there, the heated seat switches are in the batwing
Mine has heated seats on the radio surround area.
You should make a T-Shirt with the visor warning cover all scratched up with 996 underneath!

I had no problem at all with the ebay mirror flip covers, they fit perfect. It looks like you and I used the same retailer for all the lighting. I am impressed with your choice. It shows taste and style. They've been in for a year no failure so far, I know some cheap LEDs can disappoint, but knock on wood.
I reused the door courtesy lights just threw in LEDs. One day I'll splurge for the ones that shine the porsche crest on the ground when you open the door, so bling. I like the new ashtray replacement, but it does seem like there's quite a Porsche tax on it. Maybe renn will have a sale 😅

I didn't even think of the courtesy lights with the Porsche crest until a few people commented about that. I'm not sure how I feel, it can be cheesy sometimes.
I'm not worried about cheesy, no one will likely see it save me, rarely. I'm not huge on night driving at my age. Tho I have spent the money to refresh my litronics, using the kit from NL, retrofitlabs. They're great lights now. It was one of the first upgrades. Safety first.
A little tip on troubleshooting, always suspect the part with moving parts first.

I own two salvage Boxsters......the one I am going to keep for a daily driver......the windows go up and down when you open and close the doors......but, you can't do anything with the window switches.......as they go up/down/up when you open/close the doors.....it seems the motors are good......need to figure out if it is the switches or a relay or something.....you fixing your issue on the passenger door has motivated me to finally dig into the issue I am having.....
Electrical issues are annoying, that's for sure. Give it a try though!
So glad you were able to get the passenger window fixed. Your spirit fingers while showing it operate hands free inspired me to watch "Bring It On" just kidding! Absolutely love your videos (In the most manly way)!!! It is awesome to see how you channel had grown since the early days of the E36. Hopefully with Spring here we might see some LS glory!? No matter what I'll be here for the next drop!

There is a factory ashtray delete option but it retains those switch blanks... if I hadn't already installed that I would be buying one of the kind you got.

Great stuff Matt. I had a dude 3D print visors for me and they too were a little off. I ended up breaking one trying to install it. Glad that door window issue was only the motor. Mine is making scraping noises and clunks up against the cabriolet top when it’s all the way up.
I think there are a few different versions of the visors which make them tricky to create.

@8:05 Hate to burst your bubble, but the window should drop about 1 cm before opening the door. I think you need to set that stil.
Get the puddle lights that project the word PORSCHE onto the ground, they looks great.

Awesome work mate - I own Perfekt Lighting and do a superb LED interior and Numberplate kit for the 996’s (I’m UK based for any UK customers)
FYI the "fake" window switches are actually garage door openers. Seems like your car doesn't have it optioned. My 996 turbo has them and they work!
Is there a kit for sale that makes those operational?? I have a garage door and a gate remote on my visor I’d like to ditch

The aftermarket support for cars nowadays is insane. 3D printing has allowed people to make exactly what they want/need. I had e28 few years back and it didn't have cupholders at all. Some guy designed dual cupholders for the car, paid 30 bucks for it and I used it daily. Probably one of my favourite upgrades on any car, even though it's such a small thing.
Glad you got that fixed. Would you be surprised to learn that these are still an issue with Porsche? Probably not. @ those window motors going out a lot.

my 986 came with that centre cubby in the middle, never knew it was aftermarket, it had a little rubber mat at the bottom to keep coins from rumbling and jumping around !
Should have gotten the Porsche puddle lights since you replaced those door panel lights! Love the upgrades.

Just a diy idea. Can paint the center console in yellow with clear coat to add some pop inside. Yellow seat belts too.
I'm considering that right now, just not sure if I want bright yellow inside lol.

I had the exact same problem with the door latch. I just fixed it yesterday. Took the half with the mechanical bits and the new microswitch form the non-Porsche new one, and put it together with the other half with the electronic bits from the used one. I for the life of me cannot find a difference between the new and old board inside the half with the connector (there are no electronics inside, just a motor, and I swapped that around too). But the car knows... Maybe one lead goes to ground and it senses that. IDFK. In any case, now it is done. 5 hours gone. Was thinking about whether I could tell you how to fix yours as I was doing it :( Too late.
That new piece make the rest of the center console look like crap! Really nice upgrade

I just sold my 986 boxster 2.5 1999 for 1.2k gbp ! Was considering fixing it myself but the engines rod bearings spun, and i have no clue how to fix that lol. saving for a cayman 987.2 :)
Fixing the engine would have required an engine drop and nearly everyone does a complete engine overhaul while it's tore apart. Super expensive

The center console piece is a nice upgrade indeed. However, I personally find it’s price of $129 too high. It should be in the $60- $75 range. Great that you got it for free!
You have to account for research and development too. I'm sure it took a long time to design a nice working and fitting part.

About the window motor, cant understand why you couldnt measure the driver vs. passenger side. Currentdraw, and voltage supplied would have given the answer to this problem imideately ;-)
But as you said, now you got a new window regulator system as well!

So, you do your own thing, but when swapping the passenger window motor to the driver side. That only proves that the motor is faulty, but does nothing to prove the passenger wiring is in tact. Swapping the known good motor into the passenger side would help prove the root cause.
It did prove it. I installed a new window motor and it works perfectly.
The brushes might be worn in the old motor.

You've got a PORSCHE TURBO. Spending $652 on a window motor isn't that big a deal, and you know a new motor will be reliable.
I have a USED 149k mile Turbo. It doesn't need brand new OEM parts to work well. I can't afford brand new OEM parts everywhere.

Dude, that is a motor assembly, it has the regulator module on it! Last time you changed the window crane, not the regulator. It was the regulator this whole time as everyone in the comments told you. 🙂
