Tip when working on modern cars: disconnect the battery 🔋 before removing any electrical connectors, why? Example: i removed the dash outta my pickup without disconnecting the battery, the tail lights would not turn on after plugging the connectors back in until i disconnected the battery 🔋, electrical surface tension on the wires. the fuel gauge sending unit can burn off contact points. sensitive computer ecm parts.

The painted center look fantastic. You'll see carbon fiber here and there, but VERY rarely will you see paint matched centers! Great choice man. I love it.

Get some Gyeon Leather Cleaner on those door panels and the dash, it'll bring the matte look back to match the seats. Probably the best leather cleaner on the market.

Center console looks great! I did the same thing to my 996, color matched it black. The only thing I would ask Mustafa to do is to paint the ebrake cover that snaps on the left side. Will make a huge difference !
A few people mentioned that. I’m worried that part would get beat up in that location.

Lookin goooood, yellow console Def makes the interior pop. I wouldn't throw too much more Yellow in her though. Also that shift boot looks a bit uncircumcised if you know what I mean 😅
Matt, I’ve had several 996’s and I haven’t figured out how to restore the door cards and handle leather. There has to be a way to remove the shine and restore it back to its original satin finish. I’d love to see a video on this and I know many 996 owners would too.
I want to get the door handles in carbon fiber to match the armrests.
Yellow console looks really good! Only one cosmetic upgrade I can think of: SILVER WHEELS 😎

I think the centre console looks great in yellow. The only comment I would make is that there's a panel flush with the rest of the console under the handbrake lever that I think should have been yellow as well. That would have just finished it off in my opinion. If you do get Mustafa to do it, tell him to wear a respirator next time!

You should get a leather shift boot same stitching as the existing one. All leather everything uniform match

3 things: 1) Content is awesome!! I love it!! The turbo is coming along nicely. 2) reverse your QJ: at least I do with my 911 since the engine and weight is in the rear. When I raise it it goes up and back since the weight is back here. I think QJ recommends this too. 3). If anybody wants to send me cool leather parts for a 997, I will gladly accept!

Looks sick, as an upgrade I would buy the numeric racing shifter cables and shifter. It will shift so much cleaner. Had them in my race Boxster.
Also I would put an original shifter sack / knob in there.

Your problem could also be in the door harness going into the frame of the car . Audi and vw used to have issues there check to see if the harness is stretched or moisture in the connector. These things once being connected for a long time don't like to be apart use stablant or dielectric grease .you actually did the right thing with the butt connectors with air bag it was a recall we used to perform. Great job bro 👏.
Congrats on the progress Matt! Coming along very well! Btw, I had the ashtray delete on my 996 GT2 too and from what I know it should come with a rubber lining that covers the screws.

Strangely I have a painted silver console on my black 996tt, and all the trim is stock CF. And it looks great.
Makes a huge difference for the interior. Everyone who gets in it mentions how nice the interior is, compared to a base interior.

Looks great! The painted center console is definitely an upgrade. I picked up a used center console and am trying out doing a CF wrap on it for my car. My car has the CF trim package, but it didn't come with the CF center console, and like you mentioned... $1000 for one is a bit much, so I found a wrap that matches the CF trim I have and I'm going to give it a shot. The whole project will be under $100, so I thought it was worth trying. My wish list would be to get a CF wheel as well (like yours), but that's also $1000 or so and not something I can really justify to my better half right now. Maybe she'll get it for me for Christmas (haha).
If you can wrap that center console and make it look nice I would be impressed!

The yellow center console actually makes the interior pop. The factory interior was pretty bland but with everything you've done it has really made it look more like a Porsche instead of a VW lol.

Yellow looks good in the middle, I must say that the fit of the handbrake sleeve doesn't look very nice around the button. Maybe it can be glued or something so it doesn't look like something uncircumcised :D ( sorry I had to). Otherwise the piece does look pretty good.

This has been a fun one to follow. Glad you got past all the gremlins. Are you going to hit the dash and elbow rest leather with a dedicated (not Sprayaway glass cleaner) leather cleaner to get them closer to OEM/new matte finish, like so much of your new leather that's been installed?
I think the painted console looks good. What I would do is find carbon fiber dash panels and other trim pieces which will go well with the carbon fiber you’ve already added to the car and just improve the interior look that much more.

I don't like color matched center consoles... but that flows well enough that I think it works. Better than CF in my opinion. Nice!
the wrinkles you have in the seat covers can be taken out with steam. they make dedicated machines for this but if you soak a wash cloth in hot water and hold it over the wrinkles it should shrink them.
That is a future project for sure.
I really like the color matched center console, but if I did mine I’m sure I’d end up scratching it. But it would go good with my red deviated stitching. Perhaps a used unit to experiment with might be the answer. Yours turned out great!
I think since it's clear coated it will hold up pretty nicely.

I used to install remote starts and alarms professionally for a bunch of years and wiring into the door harness was one of my least favorite things of the job.
Love the way you walk through troubleshooting. That was something we had to do a lot working on car electronics.

Matt, great progress. The only thing holding ya back from dang near perfection is the wrinkles in the new seat covers. As you already know, these seat covers and this interior package is the taught leather and not the comfort or cushion leather many came with. Can you get the seats over to an interior trim shop and have them tighten all the wrinkles out for ya?
It's on my list, but way back on the list.

I think your airbag Issue was cured by taking the electrical plug off the airbag and reinstalling. It might have had corrosion and by taking off and back on it got a proper connection. My 2 cents.
