Air for Band by Frank Erickson

Frank Erickson served with the United States Army Air Force from 1942-1946 and wrote arrangements for army bands during that time. Erickson’s Air for Band was composed in 1956 and later (1966) revised it to fit “standard” band instrumentation and part divisions. This piece features Baroque and Classical elements, such as its binary form. Erickson strived to create a piece that was melodically interesting and offered pedagogical merit, making it a great educational tool for young bands.
