- The year was 2021, and Gems in the Rough needed a winner. Tyler Hood stepped up to the plate ( • Tyler Hood | Lost Love... ), the people spoke, and he was the chosen one. Tyler got the opportunity to make a GemsOnVHS recording ( • Tyler Hood, "Alone Her... ), and a WesternAF one ( • Tyler Hood | "Five Mil... ) for that matter, and the folks loved it. Honestly, Tyler is a refreshing breath of fresh air in music for me, laid back, funny and humble. With the current contest in its top 10 phase, we figured now was a great time to revisit him, see what he is up to and celebrate his music again. This time it is a song about truck drivers. My dad is a truck driver, so I love a good song about the trucker life.

Tyler Hood always captures that raw rural working man spirit in his lyrics, which are at face value so simple but so nuanced! Killer song, and a brilliant video!

As a long truck driver myself he did a very good capturing the lifestyle of our lives I think and the struggle of trying to make it home for holidays. The amount of times I've missed important events or holidays while hammering down just trying to get home is crushing. Dropping a load and trying to get home 100% has happened to every driver only to not make it home or get there to late and everyone is gone and it's midnight and you are like FUCK I missed another birthday or Christmas god dam it.
I didn't think anyone would write another great trucker song and I was proven wrong, this is one of the best trucker songs just cause it's so emotional and true.
