Hi Michelle, good question! The two sugars may be used interchangeably when baking. I prefer cane sugar as it has a sweeter aftertaste. Beet sugar can add an earthy almost burnt flavor to your dessert.
@@smsinny1 I'm in Germany and we don't have the same brown sugar. The baking powder is different as well - not relevant to this recipe, but I just found this out after years of flat cakes so I thought I would share

I will have to try this, my cookies allways come out too flat and crystaline with European ingredients no matter how i make the recepie.
