I love that Hayden reads these books and is now vlogging! I'd be curious to know what he thinks of an author like Grace Draven, since she writes romance but also some great fantasy worlds and her books aren't super long.

I second Grace Draven here!! Specifically Radiance - it’s also sci fi but definitely more ‘civilized’ than IPB so you guys might definitely enjoy it more. Plus it’s got some hilarious chemistry because both main characters start off thinking each other look just absolutely HORRIFYING! 😂❤ but I def love GD’s writing with my whole heart

Oh, I can picture you two doing this back and forth vlogging for Morning Glory Milking Farm 😅. That would be a prime time post right here. The consent in this IPB book in particular is iffy. Especially the poor girl running out into the snow after the assault! But Chan explains the attraction of monster and alien romance perfectly.
I find it so cute that you guys have the same humor. And I loved that Hayden talked about consent, and you knew he was going to mention it. This is really out of the blue but I think you guys should read Six of Crows, it's a book that Hayden maybe could enjoy (it has the heist and everything, it gets you hooked) and you said in a vlog that you were thinking about re-reading it. Where you vlog your reading experience and than add on a discussion bit at the end. That way we get both your thoughts and feelings fresh while you're reading the book. I really liked the format with vlogging! We got to hear reactions in real time which was cool. But I also missed the back and forth yall normally have when discussing a book. Maybe there’s a way to do both? A little bit of vlogging and a shorter than usual convo between you both at the end with some prompts? Not sure if that would be a ton of extra work though

I definitely commend you guys for trying out Ice Planet Barbarians! I think you guys would like her Corsair series a lot more though! Same humor, a lot more consent, and even better sci-fi world building for Hayden! I am one of those weirdos who does love IPB, but can definitely understand where others might not. However, I think Ruby is an amazing writer and definitely push for people giving her other works a try and her a second chance ❤

You did a GREAT job editing this but I can understand if it’s a little too much to actually have to do it! I’d say the only other thing that could be nice is for you two to read to a certain mark and then film your thoughts so far together instead of separate.
i loved this style of vlogging! but maybe to make it easier for you in terms of editing and for hayden to have someone he speaks to, maybe you guys can have set times to when you update the vlog together? so first 20 percent and then 50 and then 80 or 100 (like you choose the percentages) depending on the book? so you both sit together and talk up until that point!

I do dig monster romance for the primal side of it(kinda same reason why I like proper ENEMIES-to-lovers too, like the try and fight each other to the death[ until frustration of not succeeding has to be worked off in some other way but also because eventually they realize they'd actually miss each other if they were gone] kind, maybe)-sometimes it can be fun to entertain the idea of people being able to just cut-loose physically and/or emotionally or such-but even saying that, like, consent and respect can/could/ still factor in sometimes too; all depending(..like, particularly if they're humanoid or shifters and such, it's the perfect excuse to kinda blend and/or temper it a bit...basically pick-and-choose/mx-and-match your own degree of inhuman/animalistic-ness versus more human/polite-sensibilities or whatever, there's something for almost any mood, if that even makes any sense). Sometimes, some people just wanna imagine someone else taking the wheel from time to time too, but not always necessarily in an inherently malicious way? I guess? ?? But, either way, I legit can't fault anyone who would rather see a bit more of a sweeter consent-ruled monster romance; sometimes even I wish we saw a bit more that myself as well. Buuut, I'm-a stop rambling now!. Loll
