This incredible film is a great example of how life ‘could’ be lived but the relationship between the dad & children is the best part. He teaches them how to debate with an open knowledge policy.
Seriously, I couldn't deal with the raw emotion of this movie. I applaud you all for making a movie that I couldn't finish, but prayed there might be a happy ending somewhere. Brilliant movie making but way too emotional for me regarding loss.
@@JJ-wm6vj my interpretation was that the last 20 minutes didn't actually happen and were fantasies of Ben's imagination. I saw it as quite a sad ending.
@@InexorableVideos The ending doesn't seem possible given the events leading up to it. Grandpa would never have just allowed Ben to take all the kids away on the bus, and steal his daughter's body out of the cemetery. So yes, it does make more sense as something he imagines.
Would be in the fiction category, you know what wouldn't be in the fiction category? Americans stealing from other countries because they can't produce sh*t.
It’s not about the Gulag, but there’s a good movie about the Ukrainian Famine/ Holodomor of 1932, made in Poland called Mr Jones. It’s about the british journalist Gareth Jones risking his life to expose the lies of the Soviet miracle under Stalin. Not a perfect movie. It had the potential to be another The Pianist. In the hands of a director like Polanski or Scorsese it could have been a masterpiece. But a worthwhile watch all the same.

You're always offended by good messages, because they're usually coming from people with leftist values. That's why you belong to the party of bad values and support pathological liars like Trump. The party who've been involved in over 50 times as many criminal scandals as Dems.
kinda believable that the kids in that movie would grow up to be 'philosopher kings' ruling over the burger-munching plebs of america. though, of course, equally possible they'd get teased mercilessly at any school in the country for being weirdo's
Even though this movie claims to be left wing, it's still right wing. Rural, family oriented protagonists = right wing by default. Right wing people aren't sympathetic to elitists either. The opposite is true. This movie certainly is sure to offend _the left._ The moment you start to acknowledge reality and try to make a good movie...yeah. Dangerously right wing.
The guys in the movie are pretty much living a communist lifestyle, just much less people living together. A commune would have max of 2k people, they are like towns just without money and limited ownership. If you have a network of communes, you get communism.
in the movie the father was a complete narcisist and psycho that isolates himself and his family from living in society, his kids are just like mini hitlers
What era was Viggo's character supposed to be from? Embarrassing from beginning to end. But it must be nice having George Sorros for a grandpa and all. At least he let them all live. Pathetic!

Heartbreaking when the kids are laughing as their mothers remains are being flushed down a toilet.
How is it heartbreaking? They just understood their mother’s sense of humor and her beliefs about not being our bodies.
